Do We Know Anything At All!? in Spirituality ·
Joseph Ramos11 said:Do you realize you can play around with questions like that forever and still come up empty? Can you actually explain to me how an electron exists as both a particle and a wave? Like, can you really wrap your head around that?
You can hide behind fancy wording and "scientific" jargon, but...
What do we actually know?
🙂

It’s just like how spiritualists can loop themselves in circles asking what consciousness is. It's the same thing, really. Human perception has its limits. But at least physics knows where those boundaries lie—it knows what's just convention, what it doesn't know, and what it does. And it knows how to apply that knowledge. Without any ambiguity.
The corpuscular and wave-like nature of particles? That's what you're stuck on?
Well, look: a particle is something for which we have zero actual experience of what it "is." Simply put, we live in a world of entirely different scales, and our lived experience just doesn't translate to the quantum level. Expecting the quantum realm to behave like the macroscopic world is a dream classical mechanics abandoned a long time ago.
So, an electron is SIMULTANEOUSLY a WAVE and a PARTICLE. Or rather, it is one single reality that we describe through the lens of our own experience—which isn't its experience, it's just our analogy—sometimes calling it a wave and sometimes a particle.
Maybe Bohmian mechanics, which is that unrecognized alternative to the Copenhagen convention, offers a better description.
But the electron is the easy part. The much harder question is WHAT IS SPIN?
The answer? A quantum number, a property. We compare it to "rotation" based on our own experience. Yet, reality shows us that spin simply cannot be rotation.
And what about an electron cloud? It’s a mistake to think of it as a region where an electron is zipping around incredibly fast, creating a cloud. No. It isn't moving so fast that we perceive it as a cloud; it is quite literally everywhere at once, as dense as the probability cloud dictates.
Still, for me, there's only one real answer:
MAN IS NOT THE MEASURE OF ALL THINGS. He only understands life at his own scale of existence. Everything else is incomprehensible to him, except through MATHEMATICS.

One of the most interesting and significant takeaways from the film is the idea that modern scientists don't truly grasp quantum physics. Things like an electron existing in two places at once actually happen, but the theories used to explain them are so incredibly complex that they often only make sense to the people who created them. This leads to a single reality: the deeper we look into the very essence of matter, the less we understand what matter actually is. It’s a fact. Even serious scientists, especially those deep in the weeds of quantum mechanics, are starting to admit that they don't really know what's going on at that quantum level.
Since this film was made for a general audience, I think its style makes sense for its purpose. To me, the film reflects shifts happening in the collective unconscious. It’s a sign that those old, rigid concepts that have been set in stone for centuries are finally starting to break down. Those heavy, outdated structures usually just stifle human creativity. It’s actually good that the public is being introduced to alternative perspectives on reality... if only to encourage people to question beliefs they previously took for granted.

At least they know what they don't know. The spiritualists behind this movie? They don't even have that much clarity.
One electron and two holes? Please.
Look, try it this way: imagine you're standing on a beach and there's a concrete sea wall with two holes cut through it.
When a wave hits that wall, does the water go through one hole or the other? Or does it go through both?
But how? You've got one single wave, yet somehow both holes get filled? You see the problem now?

They said that quote was meant for people with mental deficiencies!
Like Jesus, he’s offering them the Kingdom of Heaven—mostly because they’re all idiots, so at least they might get something out of it. 😕 🙄

Just find some damn passion. Otherwise, you’re going to spend your entire life crawling around like a worm.

So, what do you think of one from China?

Better to live one day like a tiger than an entire lifetime as a worm.🙄

Well, that’s just how some people roll, I guess. Personally? I wouldn't choose to live one single day like a tiger. That kind of mindset... it's exactly what those mobsters live by, and frankly, I can't stand them.
It isn't about the length of your life, really. It's more important that whatever little time you actually get, it's lived high.
It's all or nothing, like that old song says. But then again, if you listen to the rest of the lyrics, the guy ends up losing his brother to the whole mafia lifestyle anyway.

Shutting people out or dodging them only masks the issue temporarily; the tension just keeps building up under the surface. Besides, you're dealing with this too—you're just as much a victim of the cycle as they are.
Try to lean into the whole process. Walk through it a few times, and you'll see it isn't as scary as it seems. Eventually, you'll build up a kind of emotional immunity.
At least then you'll actually understand the mechanics of how it works.
You can't run away from it, but you might eventually reach a point where it just slides right past you.
Anyway, don't count on that happening every single time.

I’d honestly suggest finding a psychiatrist who won't sit there judging you, but will instead actually provide the kind of help you need...👍

A psychiatrist isn't going to do much for him, really. It's not like he's mentally ill or anything. He just... I don't know, he still has these naive illusions about how people actually work.

It’s like I can pick up on their thoughts—and along with those thoughts comes all their misery and baggage. I know everyone gets a little vibe from others sometimes, but for me, it’s constant... it happens in every single everyday conversation.
Sometimes it’s just incredibly frustrating—honestly, it makes me so pissed off when I can feel someone thinking one thing while they’re saying something completely different—that I have to fight just to stay cool.
On top of that, people end up "dumping" their suffering onto me... so I just cut the conversation short, sometimes pretty bluntly, and try to dodge anyone who seems like they're having a rough time. I hate doing that because then I feel like a total jerk, but I honestly don't know how else to handle it.
A few times now, during a totally normal chat, I’ve actually felt like I’m being "drained"... kind of like someone is sucking the life out of me through a straw (yeah, yeah, stupid metaphor, I know, but that’s the only way to describe it)... and then I just get super twitchy and have to stop myself from physically "defending" myself.
I know plenty of people deal with stuff like this—maybe not as intensely as I do, but still—so how do you protect yourself without just walking away? And please, don't give me that "just ignore it" or "mentally distance yourself" crap... I've tried all that, and it works for maybe two seconds before everything goes south again.

I think you're way too focused on other people. Someone clearly fed you some fairy tales about humanity. People aren't inherently good. They aren't even bad. Most people are just more or less hypocrites driven by their own selfish interests. Just focus on your own stuff and let them do whatever they're going to do.
Avoid the ones trying to manipulate you psychologically, and as for those who are suffering? Well, maybe it's an illusion. They're often just looking for your attention.
Until you learn to filter out the toxic people, you won't be able to actually sense the good ones. It's simple: the bad actors are louder, more charming, and more social. They have to be, since they lack the actual ability to create anything meaningful on their own. To fit into society, they have to pull all those stunts that bother you so much. Just accept that as reality and go find your path toward people who actually have some competence.
