I guess I wonder what you guys think about the whole documentary revival thing lately? There were some really top-tier ones at the festival in Napa Valley this year, like "The American Dream," which follows these two film school students who basically invented the concept of the modern shopping mall... I mean, a few thousand people actually showed up just to watch them set up the scenes in an open field...

WKW's 2046

I hate to even admit this, especially since I’m such a huge fan and WKW is an absolute genius, but the movie was just, well, kind of... tedious, I guess.
It acts like a near-chronological sequel to In the Mood for Love, and while the soundtrack is brilliant—since it was actually composed specifically for the film—and there are those little flashbacks (actually, more like flashforwards 😉 into the future, set in 2046)—it all feels a bit too much like mere mannerism, maybe.
Just felt disappointed. 🙂
