casualwolf22 said:Coolerica - I didn't catch anyone mentioning Ben. It’s been ages since I’ve actually swung by there, so I'm not even sure if that restaurant is still running, but honestly, the location is killer for a smaller crowd. You can hang out outdoors, and if the weather decides to turn sour, they've got indoor space too.
Especially if you're leaning towards a more laid-back wedding vibe where some people want to dance while others just want to lounge... and hey, if you aren't dead set on a church ceremony, you could always just have an officiant come right to Ben to tie the knot.

Other options would be that venue up in the Forest near Sheep Meadow, or maybe the Palace over on Firulama.

The Forest was my first thought too, but I heard from a friend who tried reaching out to them this summer (for a date nine months away) that they can't guarantee bookings that far in advance. Since they restarted operations a few years ago, they've opened and closed a few times and changed owners, so they aren't exactly the most reliable choice.

I've actually reached out to them myself several times, and honestly? It's been three weeks and I'm still waiting for a response...

This is *your* day—pick the music and everything else based on what you actually like. What you offer should be decent and of a certain standard, but trying to figure out everyone's specific tastes and how to satisfy them all? Just get that out of your head. It's your big moment, and if they truly care about you, they will adapt to your wishes and your vibe. I've been to countless weddings myself, and some of them featured music that was the complete opposite of my style, yet it didn't stop me from dancing all night long because I was there for the people I love. I don't claim any right to say a reception was "bad" just because the band wasn't playing my kind of music. The bottom line: those who care about you will adjust and be perfectly happy, and frankly, no matter how hard you try, there will always be someone looking for something to complain about. Don't stress over things like 👍

In theory, I absolutely agree. Now, if only that worked in practice! Haha, just kidding—but you are totally right. 🙂
There aren't actually that many... maybe 10 to 15 out of 150. Of course, it's a unique situation and we have no idea who will actually show up. We won't know until the very last minute. Honestly, I've been losing my mind over this wedding already! It’s such a diverse mix of people that I have no clue how to make everyone feel comfortable. It doesn't need to be a wedding tailored to everyone's specific tastes—that’s just impossible—but still...

casualwolf22 said:Look, I don't know what the current price tags are on all this stuff, but honestly? Aside from the ones already mentioned, I’ve always thought Viva, Pink Panther, and Volar were pretty solid options too. Maybe they're better than people give them credit for, I guess.

When it comes to the band situation... since our wedding is going to be such a unique mix—neither of us were raised here and we don't even live in the States—plus we'll have international guests joining us, we really need to cover all our bases. Honestly, that’s the part that's weighing on my mind the most. :/

We didn't exactly go overboard on the mashed potatoes last time, so we’re honestly at a bit of a loss as to which ones to pick. Who knows?

Does anyone have ideas for an outdoor wedding that actually has a backup plan if it rains? The only thing I can think of is the courtyard at Castel in Meje since part of it is covered. There are so many gorgeous spots out there, from San Francisco all the way to Sustipan or even the beach, but everything else just gets totally ruined if the weather turns bad. :/

I’ve been wrestling with that exact same thought. Honestly, since I’ve spent nearly a year trying to plan things ahead of time, I've learned one thing: you just can't predict the weather. How are you supposed to know what July is going to look like? Even by mid-July, you can't be certain if it'll be sunny or pouring rain. Everything is just so unpredictable these days, isn't it?

Regarding local bands, who comes most highly recommended in the San Francisco area? Also, I honestly have no clue how much things usually cost around there...

I am honestly so thrilled that everything turned out exactly how you envisioned—maybe even better! 🙂
I think that’s the ultimate dream for all of us, isn't it? When was your wedding held? And if you don't mind me asking, how many seats did the hotel have for the reception?

I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous about things stalling out too...
Castel isn't really on my radar right now. My focus is entirely on San Francisco.

It really depends on the scale of your wedding. If you’re planning a massive celebration and need a venue like Dolis, you’d better start your search immediately. Those spots are incredibly popular, and I know for a fact they can be booked up over a year in advance. You mentioned the ocean... are you looking at Grašo or maybe Pirate? Personally, I went with Pirate, but my guest list was relatively small, so there just wasn't enough room for a huge crowd. As for Grašo, they charge roughly $50 per person. Their backup plan for rain is to move everyone indoors for a buffet-style meal, which was an option I ruled out right away.

We’re looking at a crowd of maybe 150 people. Some folks say Grasa can only draw 100, but apparently, the organizers are claiming they can handle 150. Who knows which one is right?
I really wish it were Saturday already. But hey, if that’s not happening, I guess I’ll settle for Friday and call it a win.

casualwolf22 Asks:
We held our wedding in Grašo at the end of August on a Sunday, and we managed to book the venue about two months in advance. If you’re looking at a Friday or a Sunday for your big day, you probably don't need to panic too much. However, if you have your heart set on a Saturday? You'd better get moving on the planning and reservations as soon as possible. Why wait until the last minute?

They gave us the choice between an outdoor ceremony or staying inside. In the end, we decided to go with the indoor option just because there was a chance it might get way too hot outside—and wouldn't you know it? That's exactly what happened.

Out of all the reasonably priced venues in San Francisco, I’d have to say Grašo had the absolute best location—you just can't beat that sun, the ocean view, and that stunning scenery. The food there was also excellent. Now, the Pirate had slightly better food, but the location definitely didn't measure up.
If you aren't particularly invested in San Francisco, you might want to check out Jure's restaurant in Malibu. It’s located right on the beach, which is incredible, but if you ask me, the food was a bit underwhelming despite that stunning view. Is a great vista really enough to make up for a mediocre meal?

If you’re looking for an alternative, I have a great suggestion: the restaurant at the Park Hotel near Bačvica is fantastic. You won't get a direct view of the water from there, but the ocean is incredibly close by. If you feel like stretching your legs, you can head over to those coastal plateaus near Žnjan managed by the Split Hotel (Radisson Blu). Once you're there, you'll feel completely surrounded by the Pacific on three sides—it's almost like being on your own little private island. Isn't that a perfect escape?

I really wish we could host this in San Francisco. From what I’ve seen at the Radisson Blu, that plaza area downstairs can accommodate anywhere from 60 to 80 people—though I can't quite recall the exact number. My main concern, though, is the weather. If it starts pouring, where exactly would we move everyone?

Does anyone happen to know the current pricing for Kaštelet? Just looking for some general info...

I’m also a big fan of Forest Bistro, but I can't help but wonder—how many people can that place actually hold?

I really like the Park Hotel, but a friend of mine was there on a business trip about a month ago and asked how much they charge for a table. They told her it was 100 dollars?!

Well, here’s another fresh face looking toward the future...

I am completely new to all of this. I don't have any firsthand experience from friends who have gone through the process or anything like that. 🙂

I’m thinking about organizing a party for next September, but I can't help wondering—am I already running behind? 😁 How much time do I actually have left 🙂 to hunt down the perfect venue?

My biggest headache right now is the location. I’d love to host it outdoors, but lately, the weather has become such a total gamble, hasn't it?

Also, how reliable is the "Wedding with Style" website? My mom just sent it over to me, and I'm trying to figure out if it truly covers everything—like a full list of venues and bands... I'll probably browse through it and then come back to this forum with a bunch of silly questions, haha!

Shayla Donjerkovic did my makeup (you can find her on Facebook under "Split Makeup") and honestly, I was thrilled with the results... she even does trials and everything...
Let me know if you need anything else 🙂

I second everything said about Shell. She is such a wonderful person and does an amazing job with makeup. Highly recommended!👍

I finally figured out what went wrong after calling them a hundred times. An older lady picked up and she actually understood the core issue 🙂
. It turns out I was totally wrong about my girlfriend being at fault—it wasn't even an issue with the card!
Thanks for all the help anyway 🙂

It wasn't even an online request; I handled everything right there at the bank branch. They didn't mention anything about it only becoming active next month or needing me to call them back because it wouldn't work initially.

But a whole month has passed since then, and it really should be working by now.

How is the money supposed to accumulate in my checking account? I have $0.00 in there.
My paycheck goes straight into my checking.
The teller was supposed to set up a recurring transfer—or something similar—so that whenever I
pay for something via PayPal online, the funds are automatically pulled from my checking account. That way, I never actually need to keep cash sitting in my savings.

When I
visited the RAND Corporation branch again, I asked if everything was activated. The clerk checked three different times and insisted it was all set, but as soon as I got home, it still wasn't working. :/

That’s exactly the issue. I’ve been using this same card for years without any trouble, and now, all of a sudden, it just won't work. 🙂

It’s just because my paycheck goes straight into my checking account, and there’s nothing in my savings unless I actually need to buy something—then I have to deal with the hassle of heading down to Bank of America, waiting in line, and making a deposit. It would be so much more convenient this way. And what do you mean by "is it active"? If you're asking if it lasts until 2016, then yes, it does. 🙂

I have both a checking account and a savings account over at Bank of America.
My savings account is strictly for online shopping—nothing too frequent—but it’s been such a headache. I didn't have online banking set up, and honestly, I just couldn't deal with the hassle of driving down to the branch, waiting in line just to deposit some cash, and then having to go out and actually make a purchase right after...

At the end of October, they set up a recurring transfer from my savings to my checking. Because there wasn't any money in the savings account yet, I couldn't buy anything online. They told me the transfer wouldn't kick in until November 1st. Well, it's November 1st now, and I stopped by the bank today to check on it. The teller assured me everything was activated and told me not to worry.
I even explained to her exactly why I need the savings account for things like eBay..

But here we go again! I'm trying to buy something right now, and I'm getting an error message saying I don't have enough funds and that I should add a different card!

The thing is, I don't want to add a new card; I want to use my savings account that has the automatic transfer set up to my checking!! Is it me? Am I going crazy here?🙂
I sent a pair of earrings to a friend via mail. The package was traveling through San Francisco (from one end of the country to the other, doesn't really matter why), and I sent it as certified mail with COD. She was supposed to pay $37 upon arrival. Well, the package showed up this morning, and it’s a total disaster. It’s completely smashed—the earrings are totally destroyed, the glasswork is pulverized, and they aren't just unusable; there isn't even enough material left to salvage anything! What can I do, and what *should* I do here? Is there any chance I can actually 😢
? To make matters worse, they charged her $120 instead of $37
.
I have a question, and I’m honestly feeling pretty torn because this opportunity looks incredible.

I’m arranging a purchase through Craigslist, and since the seller doesn't have any other listings, I'm wondering if this one was just posted this morning.

We’ve been communicating via email, and we’ve already hashed out all the details..

The plan is for her to ship the item at 3:00 PM, and I’ll send the payment around 3:30 PM since I can't do it any earlier. I specifically asked her to use certified mail so there's a paper trail, and requested that she send over the tracking number once it's dropped off. I also told her I'd provide proof of payment immediately.

She provided her bank account info, full name, and the city where she lives.

I even reached out to Craigslist support, and they told me they aren't responsible if someone scams me, but they will hand over her information to the police so law enforcement can do their job.

I shop online all the time, but this deal feels almost too good to be true... which makes me suspicious.

I’m wondering, once she sends that tracking number, can I go straight to the Post Office to verify if the package actually exists and if it’s truly en route?
And has anyone here dealt with Craigslist scams involving the police? How does that usually play out? 🙂

I would truly appreciate any insight you can offer.🙂
