It’s not even a done deal yet. There’s a White House commission that hasn't even released a statement. Honestly, this terminal isn't going to create nearly as many jobs as they claim, and when it comes to the security specs for a location like Manhattan, it doesn't even meet the bare minimum. Having some partial infrastructure in place doesn't mean squat. Plus, they're looking at building two more Chevron terminals along the coast, including an offshore one right near Trieste. On top of that, this would be built by foreign companies for their own interests—ExxonMobil is basically just a partner with MOL, so any ownership stake wouldn't even really be American (and honestly, who knows how small that stake will actually be if it even exists?) The stuff they mentioned about the benefits isn't exactly accurate—if you want to call it anything other than a total lie. The legislation regarding projects like this is super half-baked, leaving everything from safety protocols to maritime law totally up in the air. And don't even get me started on "exclusivity"—there's zero guarantee of that, especially if the Italians set up their own LNG hub off the coast of Trieste.
Let's be real, some of this stuff is just plain ridiculous—it's nothing but lobbyist hype and pure propaganda.

You really don't think there's any actual benefit to all this "space technology"? I mean, come on. You know damn well what NASA has handed down to us.
The Russians have had an operational space station—the Mir—up there for 30 years now, and honestly, it’s basically the backbone of today's International Space Station. If it wasn't for that Russian tech, we wouldn't even have the regular communication or the crew rotations on the ISS that we see happening today. It's all built on that foundation.
So, tell me this—when some billionaire decides they’re finally ready to blast off into space, who exactly are they supposed to call? Do they just ring up the USA? Or maybe try their luck with the European Union? Honestly, I can only imagine the ridiculous nonsense people have to explain over and over again on this Forum. It's exhausting.
That station would be dead in the water without Americans, and it totally would've crashed when those gyroscopes failed. Plus, the Russians don't even have decent launch vehicles for building stations because their payload capacity is tiny—like 500kg—which is basically nothing. That barely covers the bare essentials.
Yesterday was just okay, kind of a meh day, but I’m feeling a bit more pumped today! Honestly though, I have a feeling an insomnia attack is going to hit me hard tomorrow. Thank goodness it's finally the weekend 🙂
Man, I’ve got a real issue with the Full Moon. I feel totally drained during the day, but then once night hits, I get this massive surge of energy. Of course, I can't sleep—honestly, I don't even bother trying anymore. I’ve been a total Moonchild since I was a kid. I used to wonder if there was some psychological thing going on (like I was just imagining things), but nope, it's definitely not that. I handle it okay, though, because staying up for 48 hours isn't the end of the world when I normally only get about 4-6 hours of shut-eye anyway. When I finally crash after a burnout, I can sleep for 20+ hours straight without moving an inch (I won't even get up for a bathroom break). It’s actually wild how I wake up and I’m not even hungry...
The best fix is just staying active. For me, it’s totally normal to go for a run at 11:00 PM, and then maybe jump in the pool or play some sports around midnight. Since it’s summer, it's a bit harder, but I do the same thing in the winter too. If I push myself hard enough, I can sometimes grab a quick 3-4 hour nap and call it a day. Luckily, I have a group of friends crazy enough to hang out with me late at night, no matter what day of the week it is.
Moonchild 🙂
I know plenty of people who deal with the exact same thing. For some, it happens once in a while, and for others, they get hit by that "lunacy" more frequently. In my experience, it’s never psychosomatic for anyone. Honestly, over time, you actually learn to enjoy it.
Anonymous said:December 17, 2006. I got pulled over by the cops around 1:30 AM. Back then, I was still under those "new driver" restrictions, so I got slapped with a ticket for driving between 11 PM and 5 AM without a licensed supervisor in the car... blah, blah, blah. The fine came out to $167, not even counting the extra $37 in fees.
I filed an appeal, arguing that my job often forces me to stay late—sometimes even working through the weekend (which is true; I’ve stayed at the office until midnight before, though that wasn't the case the night I got caught). Look, I’ll admit I was a rookie driver at the time—only had about 22 months of experience under my belt when I got hit—and yeah, I did technically break the rule. But I'm older than 25 now, and honestly, it feels pretty humiliating to pay $203 for such a stupid mistake, especially since I'm the sole breadwinner for my family and money is tight.
Anyway, four months later, I received a summons to appear in municipal court, and now I'm wondering what the smartest move is. Should I try to call in sick to delay things, hoping to stall long enough to hit the statute of limitations in a year and eight months? Or should I just show up and hope for the best—maybe they'll show some mercy and lower the fine (or worse, tack on more 🙂 in legal costs)? Would it help if my boss wrote a letter confirming I was tied up with an urgent project and had to work overtime during that period? Has anyone here dealt with something similar?
Also, I didn't actually receive the summons myself; my brother signed for it. Is there any way to play that card—like claiming it wasn't my signature and that I was never officially notified?
Honestly, just head to court and tell them the truth! Lean heavily on the social aspect—explain that you’re the sole breadwinner and you absolutely had to drive just to make ends meet. There's a really good chance they'll be cool about it and waive the fine.
You could even mention doing some volunteer work for the community; since that stuff isn't strictly regulated yet, you might get an even easier break.
Thanks so much!
There's more coming...
Is there a way to quote multiple parts from one post while still getting a separate text box after each one?
Hey, does anyone know how I can quote multiple posts within a single reply?
