Hey everyone. I'm running a bit late to the party here, but let’s be honest, things like this always seem to fall together at the very last second anyway. Is anyone planning on driving down from Cleveland just for the show and then heading straight back home? If you are, I’d love to hitch a ride with you.

Thanks.🙂

Here’s the situation: a friend of mine has his motorcycle registration expiring today, and I suspect several others—myself included—are wondering about the same thing. I’m trying to figure out if you can actually legally operate a car or a bike for an extra 15 days once the registration lapses. The FBI's guidelines seem a bit contradictory if you read them closely, for instance:

9) A driver operating a motor vehicle, excluding tractors and heavy machinery, that is unregistered or has had its registration expired for more than 15 days, shall be subject to a fine of at least $333.

(10) A fine of $167 shall be imposed on drivers operating tractors or heavy machinery that are unregistered or have expired registration, as well as drivers of other motor vehicles whose registration has been expired for up to 15 days.

(1) A vehicle owner who fails to renew their registration within 15 days of expiration is required to decommission the vehicle, return the registration and license plates to the local police department or station where the vehicle is recorded.

I always heard that according to policy, you could still drive for 15 days as long as your insurance coverage remains intact, but based on the text above, it sounds like my friend would technically be committing an offense and facing a fine $167
Could someone please clarify this for me? Thanks.
