And here I am, totally lost 😁. To be honest, I was watching them back in 2006, and they definitely hit harder for me then. I don't know, man—nothing seems to quite click the same way after listening to Nightfall.

It’s the exact same thing over here. I see the new record is mostly getting rave reviews from the critics, but honestly, I gave it a spin once and it just felt kind of... meh. A bit tedious, if I'm being real. 🤷

On every single album, I manage to find something absolutely brilliant and something slightly less impressive—though nothing ever falls short of being good.😁

Furthermore, considering the roster of bands Hans has guest-starred with, his current musical direction isn't exactly a shock.

Personally, I think it’s healthy for a band to evolve slightly from one record to the next—it shouldn't take thirty years of playing to finally move past a standstill.
My main priority is simply that the vocals remain consistent.
And by that, I mean two specific things...
1. That the singer stays the same. We don't need a situation like what happened with Nightwish or Iced Earth, where they might as well have changed the band's name since "it just isn't the same anymore."
2. I’m not suggesting drastic shifts—I’m not expecting Hans to start growling in two albums' time—🤣 but rather that he maintains his signature voice while experimenting with different melodies.

That way, there's always something for everyone. 😁
Especially for me, given my preference for various styles.
Take my friend, for example; he only started listening because of this latest release—he's a sucker for the orchestral elements in certain bands.

But we can all agree on one thing ---> see you at the show. 😍

And hey, that's totally fine—actually, it's pretty ideal. But I'm just not feeling this specific direction they've taken lately, simple as that. They were never static; they always evolved, and you can really hear it if you dive into their earliest stuff or something like Nightfall. Back then, it all worked (at least for me). The last two I checked out didn't hit the mark, and I haven't even gotten through this latest one yet because the single sounds kind of boring to me.

By the way, I'm not a big fan of orchestras in metal 😁, which is why I'm struggling to get through the recent Iced Earth releases, even though they've been one of my absolute favorites since I first started getting into music.

Anyway, I don't want to get into a whole debate about it; it's just my take. Some people love one album, some love five, and some love the whole discography.

Personally, "Curse my name" has a bit of an Irish feel to it, and there's a decent chance you might find "War of the Thrones" appealing as well.

Though, "Wheel of" is practically an entire orchestra in itself. XD

Look, obviously I'm going to listen to the album—multiple times, actually—since I'm heading to the show... I don't want to be moping around after the concert because they played all the new stuff (I mean, it's a tour for the new album, so 😁), it's just that I'm really not feeling it right now. Same thing with the new Maiden tracks everyone is raving about; I'll start listening and immediately lose interest 🤷 Ah, anyway, see you guys at the gig. Hopefully we haven't cluttered up this thread too much, but the main thing is they're finally coming to town—it's about time!

Personally, I’m digging this new album; it’s high quality and definitely an improvement over the last one—maybe because they included those two tracks inspired by Game of Thrones 😁—though the previous record still had its charms, like "Another Stranger of Me." What really irks me, though, is that they released a completely unrelated music video for a song that was clearly written about the world of Westeros
