Jonathan Johnson67 said:In a circle, you’re supposed to be terrified of the unknown. They didn't really pull that off.

The thing about the circle is that it’s a Japanese film, and they just "think" differently—you only have to watch a few of their movies to see what I mean.

If you actually want to watch a horror movie and feel genuine fear, try watching "They" when you're home alone late at night in the dark.

And as for the fear of death, people are usually more afraid of how they'll die than death itself.

First of all, the idea of watching "They" specifically to scare myself doesn't really appeal to me. I'm fairly certain I understand the concept of fear well enough. 👎

Second of all, regarding the manner of death, what truly terrifies people is pain. Why is that? 😕 If both painful burning and painless poisoning result in death, what's the actual difference? Most people would probably choose poison without a second thought if they were looking for an exit, whereas they absolutely dread being burned. Why is embarrassment such a significant factor if the end result is identical? 😕

This doesn't pertain to phobias.

Let’s be clear: everything I write here—just like everything else I put out there—is probably pretty useless and lacks any real expertise in subjects like psychology or sociology. I guess I just don't have that kind of background. Anyway, I couldn't sleep again last night.

I was looking at a Wikipedia definition (forgive my translation skills):
Fear is such an uncomfortable sensation, isn't it? It’s that feeling you get when you sense some kind of risk or danger—whether that threat is actually real or just something your mind made up. I suppose fear can also be described as an intense aversion to things like the dark or ghosts, and that kind of thing.

I don't think I can keep up with the translations anymore; I'm just not feeling it.
It seems that developing a phobia toward specific objects or environments is something that can actually be learned. In the animal kingdom, researchers are currently studying this through fear conditioning, a process that relies heavily on the emotional circuitry within the brain.

😢 So, that's how it goes. I guess that's basically what they do to little kids—all that stuff about Baba Yaga, Satan, and those evil men offering a candy.

There’s a long-standing debate among certain philosophers regarding whether fear is just a completely pointless emotion that only ever leads to negative outcomes. On the flip side, I suppose some thinkers would argue that fear actually serves a purpose, acting as a vital warning sign when we find ourselves in a dangerous situation.

👎 First! 👍 The second one.

If we actually lived in a society built on reason and honesty, I suppose I wouldn't be dealing with these kinds of frustrations. 🙂
I really can't stand people playing games, and honestly, when I'm feeling this miserable from lack of sleep, I get this intense urge to just head out the door with an axe or something similar.
Out of the handful of horror movies I’ve actually managed to sit through, I think I’ll go ahead and pick... ta-da! — Circle! :2up:
So, we all know exactly what happened: some little girl climbs out of a well in a total rage and starts harassing people over the phone.
I say: I want to burn it all down—the mother, the director, and everyone who actually enjoys this movie! What is so terrifying about this little girl? Is it because she calls people on the phone? Or because she kills and mutilates them? Honestly, seeing her crawling around the floor in a white nightgown just feels more like a cheap adult movie than anything else. 🤮 Why on earth is that considered so terrible? I mean, seriously, could someone please explain to me why that’s such a big deal? I just don't get it!

According to some Wikipedia definitions, there are all sorts of things people used to be terrified of back in the day. It covers everything from demons and ghosts to Satanism, and even those primal fears like drowning, being burned, or being buried alive—you name it, they were scared of it.
If you strip away concepts like "demons," "ghosts," or that paralyzing fear of death found in Wrapping Paper, you realize people are really just terrified of pain—which is basically just general embarrassment—death, and the Unknown. And if you peel back the layers of the Unknown, you’re still left with nothing but death and embarrassment.
Since I find myself in agreement with what was stated above...👍 I tend to view fear as a built-in mechanism designed specifically to help us avoid embarrassment. It serves nothing more than the purpose of self-preservation—[[there I go again with the self-preservation talk]]—and I honestly see it as being synonymous with a high degree of caution. In my opinion, it’s actually quite useful.

It’s honestly both hilarious and infuriating how much everything just boils down to fear. If I had my way, I’d take Stephen King, Cradle of Filth, their entire fanbase, and the whole damn horror industry, and just flush them all down a public restroom toilet. That’s exactly what I’d do. :2up:

Since I've reached a point where embarrassment and death don't really phase me anymore—honestly, I just don't care—I can proudly say that my fears are steadily fading 😳 and it feels like I'm drifting closer to true peace of mind (which is really just depersonalization 😢 ).

Not that I recall. Though, if she actually were in it, I guess it would be three times as terrifying.

You idiots are just messing around here constantly, 😠 the question was perfectly simple and direct: WOULD YOU KILL A COW!?!?!?! 😠 :crazy_look: - I want ACTUAL answers to this, not some joke. GGAAAAAAHHH!! :gasp: :choke: 😠 😠 😠

When is that horror trash actually hitting theaters? Has it even arrived yet? I only caught a glimpse of the trailer while I was flipping through Netflix for some HBO shows, and honestly, it looks pretty mindless again—no real plot, nothing clever, just cheap jump scares and special effects. Total garbage all around. Now my friend is practically begging me to go see it with her since nobody else wants to touch this junk, so... ugh. It’s an evening thing anyway. 🙄 My question for you guys is: do you think this movie is total garbage or just straight-up waste?

Let's meet up sometime; I'll bring the Cow, and then you can give us a nice little demonstration, alright? 😢

Hmm... well, I suppose so. 😢 But personally, I think I'm tougher than a fish (not necessarily every single one, but I'd certainly hold my own! Ha!).

stormylynx14 said:Anyway, what does any of this have to do with health? Mental health, perhaps?

To get back on track: I would probably eat anything put in front of me.

Well, maybe you would, but others might not.
I was just curious to see how many potential Kravoubojics we have in this group. 😢 One more to add.

Am I'm a hypocrite?! Me?! 😲 👎 👎 👎 If being "hypocritical" means I don't stare at faces all day, then fine. You've clearly been watching way too much soap opera. Is it the Ruby character? That prisoner? Or maybe the Queen of Swords? Something about Maiam? 😢

@ Kimberly Gomez28: Nemo and I never saw eye to eye either. 😢 Besides, the loudest person usually wins the argument. 😳

I don't even drink milk. 😢 It just doesn't feel right to me. It's an animal secretion. That stuff is for a Calf, not for people. Not only does an adult human not actually need milk, but it comes from a completely different species. I can't bring myself to drink it. I do drink quite a bit of soy milk for the protein, though it's honestly such a hassle because you practically have to hunt to find a brand that isn't GMO. Still, I'd take that over Cow milk any day. 👎

@ hiddencyclist2: I see you're quite the fan of the zoo. 😢

Watched the whole thing yesterday. 😁

I honestly don't get why they translated the title as "Freddy Got High"?? It really should have been something like "Freddy Got Fingered" or something along those lines. 👎

The movie is truly so stupid, but I suppose it was clearly meant to be that way. It’s obviously intended for a specific kind of audience. 😁

In my book, it goes straight into the Hall of Fame for Bad Movies All the Time.

Two decent scenes, though:
i) when he ties all those sausages to ropes, plays that crazy melody on the synth, and sings, "Daddy would you have some sausages, Daddy would you have some SAU-SA-GES." 🤣
ii) when a woman starts giving birth at the hospital and he puts on a white box, looks at her, and says, "I see what the problem is—you've got a little kid in there. Give me your hand, little guy! Come here, little guy!" 🤣

Let's go through this step by step. Honestly, I think I might pass out.

If someone put lamb, fish, and some fruit or vegetables in front of you—but you could only pick one to eat—what would it be?

Imagine you find yourself out in the wilderness, far away from civilization, carrying nothing but, well, a knife and some matches 👎. To your right, there's the ocean filled with fish. Straight ahead is an orchard, and off to your left, there's a Cow or maybe a little lamb (Jesus, oh boy!). You can eat any of them or cook/grill them, but you have to harvest, catch, or kill it yourself. What's your choice?

I suppose people who have real "guts" and aren't afraid to kill a Milka or whatever they get their meat from can rightfully justify eating parts of mammals. (🙂 )
As for everyone else, like me, no. It just doesn't sit right with my character. When you're out in nature all alone, there isn't a butcher there to slice up the Milka into unrecognizable pieces for you. I just can't bring myself to carve up a Milka. Okay, I could, but not deeply. Okay, fine, I could even do it deeply, but I just can't kill it. 😳 ...who am I kidding, I've barely ever even seen a Cow in person. 😢

I think I could probably kill a fish without much trouble; I might shed a tear or two over those glassy eyes, but that's about it. 😢 I'll go with the fish. I love fish. And the fish are afraid of me.

frozenpuma47 said:It’s such a stupid movie. Honestly, once you’ve seen one Tom Green film, it feels like you’ve seen them all... everything just boils down to those same ridiculous attempts at "shock humor" using gross scenes, and that's really it.👎

Some people claim that Tom Green is actually hilarious. 😢 I haven't sat through the whole thing yet; I only watched up until the part where his dad gives him the car. I'm about to go finish it now. 😢 I'll check back in here once I'm done.

In that opening scene where he’s laughing at those ridiculous comic books, I honestly thought I was watching some sort of quirky indie comedy about a guy who isn't quite all there. 🙄Then you realize the character is actually an incredible skater—which makes you wonder if maybe he's smarter than he looks—but then later, when he starts picking on his brother over that convertible he got, you realize, yeah, he really is just a total moron. 😢

It has a pretty terrible rating on IMDb, sitting at around a 3.6/10, but I actually thought it was decent enough.

Has anyone else seen this? I feel a little silly for having waited so long to finally check it out. 😳
