I put a deposit down, but it was way too early to lock everything in. She told me to check back two weeks before the wedding—which is crazy fast 😲 😲 😲

Is that for Emma's bakery?

Check out Emma’s bakery over in the suburbs. We put down a deposit there—tried their pastries and they’re killer. Prices are actually decent too, way better than those other spots—kind of like ExxonMobil levels of predictable.
They told us to get about 70 pounds of dessert for 180 people—so this 200lb estimate for 150 guests feels way overkill to me. Maybe I'm off, but isn't that like half a pound per person? Usually, you're looking at maybe 5 or 6 ounces per person for a dinner party.
So I called up this bakery yesterday—my wedding is still six months out—to see if they could whip up a cake with marzipan and let me come by for a tasting. And get this: they won't touch it 😲 😲 Apparently, since marzipan is so heavy, they told me I’d have to go with some stiff, structured cake instead of anything light like a parfait or fruit-based sponge.
Honestly? I'm thinking about ditching them and finding someone else entirely. I'm totally stuck on what to do here.
I tried their cookies and they’re seriously legit. The cake I had was killer too—honestly, if I ordered a wedding cake from them, it’d probably run me about $333 less than what other bakeries are charging. The real question is whether it's worth dropping an extra $333 just for a certain look elsewhere, especially since this one might turn out just as gorgeous. I just need to be upfront with them about the design so there aren't any nasty surprises on my big day.
Probably best to just ask for a sample first. 🤣 Just kidding, obviously.
Exactly 👍 I’m with you on everything you just said.
Now I gotta know—has anyone actually ordered a tiramisu cake from Emma’s before? How was it? Send pics if you got 'em! 🙏
Yeah, you didn't get it wrong. That’s exactly why it bugs me—this girl is trying way too hard to convince me that the whipped cream version tastes better. Whatever, I don't care about that—for me, it's all about the look. If I wanted to decorate a cake with fresh flowers, I'd go with the buttercream option. My main worry is if they mess up the bake and the whole thing ends up lopsided—if that happens, the whipped cream one is definitely the safer bet. 😕
I know I'm stressing over nothing, but what am I gonna 😁

You seriously get free samples just for checking her out - we actually got two different rounds of treats, and she even handed us a slice of cake to try... so we ended up ordering a bunch of cookies for Christmas too, and everyone was raving about how good they were.
We also put a deposit down with Emma. The cakes and pastries are delicious, but I’m lowkey worried about how the cakes actually look.🙄
Have you guys decided what kind of cake you want yet?
I want that smooth look—fondant style—but she's telling me it doesn't taste good. Now I can't tell if she's just saying that because she can't make it or if it actually tastes bad.
Honestly, I have no clue. When I went in to ask about a cake, the lady at the bakery showed me that frosting stuff—it’s sold in those plastic tubs, and I even saw the price tag.
She was totally trying to talk me out of it, saying it tastes mid and that I should just stick with whipped cream.
Anyone actually tried this stuff before?
Mascarpone. Or whatever the hell they call it. It goes for about $27 a pound, which is just enough for one medium cake layer—so you’re looking at roughly 2 lbs per tier.
Totally agree. They told us 3 to 4 pounds per person for dinner too—just a guess. Not sure about the takeout containers since we aren't even doing those.
