We need some girls over on that non-relevant thread for single ladies🙂

After weighing my options between massed fondant or buttercream, I finally decided to go with a whipped cream frosting.

I'm sending over an example of the cake's shape and how the wavy smoothing technique will look, though the decorations will be my own touch—a white cake featuring side stripes and daisy accents.
Since we're hosting about 150 guests, I'll need three large cakes: two hazelnut chocolate parfait layers and one stracciatella with chocolate chunks.

I already had a taste of them there, and they were honestly delicious.😘

Anonymous said:Quick question—does anyone know where I can find some good croquant cakes around Chicago?

Hey there!

I actually ordered a cake from Jim's Bakery over in the Chicago area a few days ago. While I was flipping through their catalog, I spotted one with brittle on top and asked if they did custom orders for that—they said yes. They have a website here:
The bakery is located right by the parking garage in Chicago. Check them out... Good luck.🙂

Sam Kim12 said:Honestly, it all comes down to the specific color palette and the overall design of the cake—and frankly, you’re better off just grilling the bakery where you're ordering it. They’re the ones actually doing the work, after all, so they'll give you the real scoop once they hear what you're aiming for.🙂

Look, my wife told me she could whip it up herself, but honestly, she doesn't think it'll turn out great. Plus, that whipped cream cake she sent me a photo of? It's just not my style. Didn't yours have some kind of glaze on it, Sam Kim12?

Sam Kim12 said:They definitely have it.😉 ........ It’s essentially just a dense, compact mass—think along the lines of heavy dough—that can be dyed any color you want. For all intents and purposes, it lacks any actual flavor or aroma, though they can always pump in some artificial flavorings if they feel like it.😉

Ladies, for those of you who’ve already tied the knot—I need some help here. What should I go with: whipped cream or Ticino? 🙏

I mean, if the bakeries aren't using it, why bother making those cakes? Okay, fine, I read up on what it actually is! But honestly, fondant is just plain tasteless. To me, a cake needs to actually look like something, not just taste good. I don't get why they don't just make a version of fondant that actually tastes decent. 🙂))))))

Bryan Harris59 said:That is a gorgeous cake! While that heavy frosting looks stunning and the cakes themselves are quite beautiful, it isn't exactly delicious. I've heard that from quite a few people, and personally, I find the whipped cream or heavy cream they tend to use just isn't very pretty. Because of that, I’ve decided to go with a chocolate glaze—though I suspect it will be white. I have this nagging fear that dark chocolate might look a bit intimidating, though perhaps I'm just overthinking things.

I agree on avoiding that frosting; it looks way too heavy and uneven because the cream just settles. A white chocolate glaze didn't cross my mind either, and I'm not even sure if it'll pair well with all the different layers inside. Dark glaze feels a little too somber for a wedding—everyone has their own style, obviously, but to me, it's just a bit much. Where are you planning to order from? And what kind of budget should we expect for a crowd of about 150?

I think the white icing is basically fondant, right? Since my wedding theme is green and white with daisies, I really want the cake to match that vibe. Just a simple white cake decorated with some daisies—nothing too over the top.

Here’s a photo of a cake I liked; I'd just swap out the roses for daisies. What do you guys think?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently stuck on a bit of a dilemma regarding which cake to order. I have a local baker who specializes exclusively in desserts, so I was thinking about having her handle the cake too. However, she sent over some photos of her work, and the first thing I noticed is that there’s no frosting—just whipped cream. She told me that while icing looks great for aesthetics, it isn't really that tasty. The problem is, her cakes look incredibly unstable, like they might fall apart at any second. Honestly, I think my mom has a better eye for decorating. To me, any cake without smooth frosting just looks messy, uneven, and frankly, a bit pathetic.
What do you all think is the better move here?

Please help me out.🙏
