It feels impossible to dodge... or maybe that’s just the "luck" we’re all talking about, I guess 🙂

What if the seller marks it as a gift and puts a lower value on the package? Does that work?
I'm really trying to figure out how to avoid those extra fees—it's already pricey enough as it is, and adding more costs on top is just not what I want to deal with... 🤷

Thanks!

And seriously, keep a close eye on what people are saying about the seller before you pull the trigger
Every buyer leaves their own little review, and if you actually take the time to read them, you'll get the real story on whether this guy is reliable or if his stuff is just cheap junk

Why's that?
Has anyone else ordered something around this price point from China lately? Did you run into any trouble with Customs or anything?

Hey everyone!
Importing from China in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Hey there,

I'm looking to grab my husband a new DVD/LCD head unit for his car—it's the perfect fit for our model! I've found one on eBay for about $450, using PayPal for the checkout. Shipping is totally free, too. The seller is based out of China—specifically Shenzhen, Guangdong—and they offer a bunch of different shipping options. Aside from that, what else should I be looking out for? Is there any way to avoid customs fees or sales tax, or does stuff like this even get taxed at all? Any advice would be amazing!

Thanks so much in advance for the help!!! 😍

Wait, where is this Chaos Inc. group even from?
Alex Carter3 said:Man, I’d guess maybe five.
Send me a DM, Chunky—his name is actually...😉

just sent him a PM! 😉
Hey, I just stumbled upon this video of Jack Skellington's choir online, 1 $0.00 they're actually performing at the cathedral 😁 do you happen to know how many people are in that group?
Ugh, seriously—how much would they even charge if they started performing at my house too? 😲 And the worst part? This guy is actually a friend of my partner's! 😕
I wasn't out hunting for anyone in San Francisco, especially since I have no clue who I'd even look for—plus, it’d probably be pretty awkward for them to show up just for one song, right? 🤷
I was really hoping to have a local choir sing maybe two or three songs during a church service—but honestly, I can't find anyone! And even the groups I did track down want to charge $333 per song... which feels totally unreasonable to me. I mean, if I'm paying for three songs, that's basically what I'd spend at a high-end florist in
. Does anyone know a more affordable choir just for a church setting??? (Portland)

shadowseal2 said:I totally agree that everything mentioned is fantastic, but I've got two gripes: it's a bit far from downtown and the venue itself lacks any kind of character. It’s been a while since I’ve been there, but I heard they still haven't added things like curtains, greenery, or those little decorative touches. The space feels a bit hollow to me, and the lighting situation is just poorly handled. At the wedding we attended, we actually asked the waiter to dim the lights a little, and he ended up turning half of them off! They didn't even have a dimmer switch 😕.
Those little gaps could be fixed with some decor, but it's such a shame the architecture doesn't offer much to work with either.
What really confuses me is that his wife runs an upscale boutique for wedding dresses and does interior design too... so she clearly has the vision, it's not like she lacks creativity 😕

But again, I have to emphasize that all those tiny flaws are more than made up for by the stellar service and how friendly the staff is.

I was actually at a party in Berlin this past Saturday, and I didn't notice the lighting issue you mentioned (maybe if I knew to look for it, I would have!)—though I do think the curtains were missing (if I remember right). I did notice some crystals hanging above the head table, though—kind of like the ones she has in her shop—and the tables looked awesome! Not sure if the bride did that or the owner herself. But yeah, just like you said; these are just minor things that most people won't even notice 🙂
shadowseal2 said:I mean, if you hire Leo, you might as well just grab his cameraman too, and honestly, if you go with Stanley, you’re probably going to end up hiring his guy as well... that’s just how most of these girls operate.

I get what you mean, though I think Stanley is actually the better deal because you get an unlimited number of shots for the same price, whereas Leo puts limits on everything. Though, I have to admit, the lady over at Lida is an incredible photographer.

Pink Butterfly, where are you even planning on having your wedding? We're still in the middle of negotiating everything right now, and since my fiancé and I have been tossing around a few different ideas, we might skip San Francisco entirely.🙂
But I won't say for sure until I'm absolutely certain.

Our big day is in nine months—still summer!—and honestly, looking at hotels around here or even down in Water was a headache. Most places aren't even booking wedding halls until ten months out, so we finally pulled the trigger on Bullin. (I was mostly scouting for that perfect dance floor, plus their menu and overall setup look amazing!)
shadowseal2 said:So, I finally sorted out the cake situation 🙂 I found this girl who’s going to handle it, and honestly, the price is pretty reasonable and she’s actually willing to make it exactly how I want. Now I just need to nail down the band...
I was checking out some photos from the gigs in Lida and Stojan, and they look great—plus, the price difference is basically peanuts.
As for the videographer, I’m still totally clueless. Negotiations are ongoing, so I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
Has anyone here ever heard of the band Horizon?

Let me know if you track down a videographer! I'm actually heading into an interview for a camera operator right now, so I'll catch up with you later.
Arthur Ramos said:So, in Charleston you’ve got three decent options—you've got Ante Stojan Photography, Lido Photo, and Spektar Photo. I actually used Spektar for my wedding DVD and honestly, I was super happy with how everything turned out, but their actual prints? Not exactly great. So if I were getting married all over again, I wouldn't go back to them... I’d probably give Lido Photo a shot. Then again, Stojan isn't half bad either. Prices are pretty much all in the same ballpark everywhere.

What about Gypsy Photo?
Arthur Ramos said:Is the videographer from Charleston or what?

Yeah, originally from Charleston (or maybe some smaller town nearby)

shadowseal2 said:Hey everyone,
I’ve been lurking on this forum forever, but I finally reached my breaking point and decided I actually need to join the conversation.
Basically, we’re pulling this whole wedding together at the absolute last minute because of some pretty happy news 🙂. We’ve only got three months left, and honestly, we’ve checked almost everything off the list except for finding a band and getting the dessert sorted out.
Does anyone know a killer live band in San Francisco?
Also, where can I go to order a cake? I have a very specific vision in mind, but I’d love to hear what you guys recommend before I dive in.

I can't really help you out with the band—we're doing a bit of a mashup since my musicians are actually from Indianapolis. But regarding the cake—I was walking around town the other day and stumbled upon this cute little shop that has everything for baking. Turns out, the lady who works there also makes incredible desserts and wedding cakes! You should definitely check it out—if you want, I can PM you her number and address.

I'm currently hunting for a videographer (and a photographer) myself!
Jacob Harris88 said:I am truly grateful to everyone for the overwhelming support! It means everything...
In any case, they wouldn't let me take the lead during the negotiations—mostly because I was prepared to go after them physically. They set up a complete ambush for us... quite frankly, it was pathetic. They ended up paying a higher fee than they originally intended without even telling me, just to ensure the band would actually show up and play. For now, I’ll refrain from naming names so they don't find out and decide to flake on us that day, but once the 14th passes, expect some serious fallout...

So, take February 15th off to rest, then come back here on the 16th so we can finally drop those names.🙂

Jacob Harris88, I'm totally with Lotus on this one—I really hope you find a killer band and just have an amazing wedding without any drama, because if things go south---------lawsuit!!! Seriously, all us girls will team up and blast them everywhere we go 🙂
Oh my God, how can we even be sure they won't pull the same stunt with our bands too???
Look, let me try to cheer you up a bit—you’ll probably end up finding a way better band than these guys anyway 👍

jadecrane3 said:Yeah, it dropped—but I think it still needs to settle a bit more... though you can definitely see the change! I don't look like a pig anymore😁 and they actually told me they're always worried about the tip dropping too low, so they tend to aim it a little higher just to be safe... anyway, did yours drop yet??

Unlike that pig-looking thing at the start, mine has definitely dropped—though I'm still hoping for a little more settling, I guess. I have my follow-up appointment in a week, so I'll just ask them if this is the final result or if it's still going to shift down. Honestly, my main priority was just making sure those bumps on the bridge weren't tearing up my tear ducts.

jadecrane3 said:So, I finally had my follow-up today—can you believe it’s already been a month since the surgery? Everything seems to be moving along! The doctors told me my nose is still looking a little swollen and that you can see it slightly pulling at my upper lip, but they promised that’ll all settle down eventually. They also mentioned my nose is tilting a bit to the left right now... but apparently, that's totally normal! They said it could literally shift to the right by the time I wake up tomorrow. Just part of the process, I guess!😁

Hey—have you noticed if the tip of your nose looks like it’s drooping a bit?
