Michael Jackson10 said:Look, the guy isn't even planning on overclocking. Why would he need all that extra juice for a chip with a 65 W TDP? Even a basic cooler handles that just fine, and honestly, that's the smart way to go—unless, of course, he's trying to be the big shot in his neighborhood. It’s not hard to Google some exotic, high-end parts that cover every possible scenario, so you really can't go wrong... but it feels like your main goal here is just suggesting the most expensive fix possible. To you, "optimal" clearly doesn't mean anything. Let's get real for a second; not everyone is swimming in cash, and nobody needs massive overkill for components in a field where everything basically becomes obsolete overnight anyway...

But he did say (well, write) that everyone is swimming in cash? Hah! Trust me, I'm not exactly rolling in it either, yet I still squeeze every bit of performance out of my hardware. Honestly, why not just grab a used Cooling fan, maybe an Ereboss one if you're lucky, and pair it with a Noctua NH-D15. (You could snag the cooler for about $50, and a brand new fan at a shop like Best Buy for $67). For around $350, you'll have absolutely killer cooling performance, just like what I'm running in my backup PC 🙂. I don't know what anyone else's philosophy is, but hey, that's just my two cents!
Angela Flores4 said:A colleague of mine is running an Intel Core i7-4790S and he’s on the hunt for a decent Cooler to handle some pretty intense workloads. We aren't talking about casual browsing here; this processor needs to survive a literal 12-hour daily torture test, 365 days a year, pinned at 100% load across every single core.
Since I know you can't exactly overclock that specific chip, I'm stuck wondering what to actually recommend without accidentally buying him a massive overkill solution that he doesn't even need.

Actually, any processor can be overclocked if you push it right, so this one isn't off the table! If you want to stick with air cooling and really nail it, I'd highly recommend grabbing a Noctua NH-D14. Or, if your case has the room for it, you could always go the liquid route with either a Corsair H90i or a Corsair H110i. It really just comes down to whether your chassis can handle the setup! :')
Generic PnP Monitor issues in Hardware ·
Jacob Martinez6 said:I somehow managed to accidentally uninstall my Generic PnP Monitor (one of two), and now my screen won't even turn on when I boot up my computer! I went into Device Manager while in Safe Mode, but all I see is one single Generic PnP Monitor marked with a little yellow warning triangle. Does anyone have any advice on how to get things back to normal? I'm running Windows 10 32-bit on this machine. 🙏🙏 Thanks!

So, if you could "accidentally" uninstall a monitor driver—which, let's be honest, has absolutely zero impact on whether the hardware actually receives power or displays an image during startup—then you could just as easily "accidentally" disable a cable by unplugging it halfway or something! It’s like saying you accidentally broke your car because you deleted the GPS app. It doesn't quite track, right? Anyway, try swapping your cables first: take the one currently in the PC and plug it into the monitor, then take the one in the monitor and put it in the PC. If that doesn't work, try plugging the monitor into a different computer, or hook your current PC up to a different monitor or even just a TV to see if you can get a picture.
