The Paradox Rule in Philosophy ·
Carl Lopez8 said:Look, on an empirical level, we'd have to establish every single possible rule and figure out if there's an exception for each one. Then maybe we could actually see if the world and language share any kind of common logical structure.

I don't really get what you're getting at. What do you mean by "logical form"? If you're suggesting that every statement in a formal language can be mapped directly onto human speech, I guess that just wouldn't work. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting you?

Yeah, honestly, life would be perfect if we didn't have thoughts at all. 🙂

What I was trying to get at is that people use that kind of phrasing in everyday conversation all the time. You can't just apply strict mathematical logic to it because human language isn't exactly a precisely defined system. I guess I tend to get a bit carried away sometimes, too.🙂

Your logic is flawed here. Rule #1 isn't actually a rule; it's just an observation based on experience. 🙂
It's like saying, "there's no such thing as a free lunch."

I guess everyone has them; some people just choose to deny it. I see it in certain posts on this forum where people clearly describe experiences, only for the authors to end up saying stuff like, "I don't buy into that, there's no proof..."

Drake said:Or what would you say—are there higher beings among us? 😁

You integrated that well into your text, but that wasn't quite what I meant. 🙂

I think there’s a massive difference between someone who is 100% conscious at their own level of existence and someone living in total illusion, just letting things happen superficially—like humans do. Those first people are "higher beings."

Anyway, you convinced me that everyone should share their perspective. Here’s mine:

I believe our soul is our first incarnation, while our physical body is our current incarnation in this universe. Our current incarnation carries that first incarnation within it. I suspect every element in the universe has a soul; even a water molecule has a soul in the same way a human does. Souls are "embedded" in the spirit, and the spirit is the soul of the universe—meaning the universe itself is the spirit's current incarnation. The highest being, or God—that's the universe along with all its incarnations. 🙂

So, what is the spirit of the universe embedded in? 😕

What's the point of all these definitions for spirit, soul, and God? Aren't they just labels people slap onto their own unique experiences? You can't really put a definition on an experience.

I guess it would be smarter if people just shared their actual experiences instead.

Besides, if people actually understood what a soul, a spirit, or God truly was, would they even be human anymore? I'd probably call them higher beings. 🙂

I was already where you are right now...

I didn't realize you could actually leave from there, but hey, I guess anything is possible.🙂

Where does that whole father-protector-directional-guide complex even come from?

I think people are just fundamentally lost these days. They’ve lost that gut instinct needed to figure out which way is actually up, so I guess they feel like they need someone to hold their hand through everything.

Maybe the soul and spirit are just our desperate craving for immortality... once death hits, you realize the body just breaks down and turns to dust. So, out of sheer desperation, we hunt for some non-material component—something that can cheat physical death and carry our thoughts and memories into some kind of transcendental existence.

I used to think the exact same way, and your post actually reminded me of that phase of my life. Honestly, it only takes one tiny "spark of enlightenment" to flip your entire worldview upside down.

People who are truly "awake" don't crave immortality, because they realize mortality itself isn't even a thing.

So, it seems to me that the soul and spirit are just relics of the past... pure nostalgia.

Look, I think it's because people in the past weren't as lost as we are today. They understood these things instinctively, rather than trying to figure them out through logic.
