So, here's the deal: my husband and I have been talking about this for ages, and we finally pulled the trigger on January 1st. Being the eternal optimist that I am, I was fully expecting to be pregnant by the fall, but clearly, life had other plans. It’s been six months now—nothing. Just a mountain of pregnancy tests and pure disappointment behind us. The thing is, I have PCOS, and I could never touch birth control because my platelet levels were always a mess back in high school. My periods have never been regular, either. My Pap smear came back fine, and my hormone levels seem okay too. My doctor told me that since I can't really pin down my ovulation window, we basically need to have sex every third day. We've tried... nothing. We even went through a phase where we were trying three times a day—which, let's be real, was exhausting—and still, zilch. Now I'm just sitting here wondering: what the hell am I doing wrong? Everyone keeps telling me to just be patient, but honestly, that doesn't help much when you're feeling like this...
Try every method available to track ovulation—mucus, basal body temperature, LH strips... I'm in the exact same boat. It's been six months of nothing for me, too. Everything points to me being healthy, though I don't know about my husband yet. They say men shouldn't even get tested until after a year of trying, but I'd love to send him in for a checkup right now. He's stubborn, though, and refuses.
I don't want to scare you, but I was actually talking about this just last night with a friend of my husband's wife. She also has PCOS and struggles to track her ovulation... it took them nine years. They have two beautiful boys now, but they seriously had to be intimate constantly!

dedicated to schizophrenia, though it wasn't started by a SCHIZOPHRENIC !!!!!
Personally, I find meeting new people to be quite a challenge.
Will they notice something is off?
Will they take things the wrong way?
I actually really cherish those initial moments when I'm getting to know someone before I ever mention it.
During that time, I feel like I can just be myself.
But once they find out, suddenly everyone starts walking on eggshells around me, and ugh, it’s exhausting.
Don't go calling me a lunatic—I'm far too mature for an asylum.
However, I have definitely had experiences where people just vanished the moment I told them.🙂
Sometimes it's a little stressful, but honestly, I don't mind it too much.😎
I am so disillusioned with the world and its people. Based on everything I've read about you so far, I think I'd much rather spend time with you than with today's so-called "normal" society. I see a psychiatrist myself; my diagnosis is an adjustment disorder... this is actually my first time reading about schizophrenia.
I wanted to ask something else because we suspect my mother might be dealing with schizophrenia. She's 49 years old, and her behavior isn't rational or sober at all. For the last ten years, she's been having hallucinations, convinced that someone is stalking her, following her, and spying on her. Because of that, she's constantly changing her phone numbers—in fact, I don't even know her current number. She cycles through partners like she's changing diapers; ever since my father passed away back in 1998, she's torn through marriages and can't seem to live without sex, sleeping with whoever comes along. She's picked fights with every neighbor and friend we have, she doesn't hold down any responsibilities, and her house is a total disaster zone, yet she just goes out to parties, singing, laughing, and dancing as if she doesn't have a single care in the world. Another thing we've noticed is that she lies incessantly—about everything. She lies so much that she actually starts to believe her own fabrications. When we suggested she might need to see a psychiatrist, she just started crying and screaming, insisting she isn't crazy and that we aren't going to lock her up in a mental institution. There's more to it, but I won't ramble on! Do you think this could also be schizophrenia?
Just took a pregnancy test... and it was negative. Honestly, I feel like I'm losing my mind. Heading to see the OB-GYN first thing tomorrow.
I’ve finally decided to just go ahead and buy a pregnancy test. Even if it turns out I'm not pregnant, I really need to schedule an appointment with my OB-GYN to figure out why my period is already two and a half weeks late. I keep trying to monitor my own body, searching for any little sign or symptom that might point toward pregnancy... it's a bit exhausting. The only thing I can think of is that my leg hair hasn't even started growing back properly yet, even though it's been ten days since I shaved—usually, it's already showing within two or three days. Plus, there's this weird skin thing happening where things seem to pop up and then disappear just as quickly. To top it all off, I've developed this incredibly painful cystic pimple on my chin, which almost never happens to me. Honestly, I feel like I'm losing my mind a little bit. I'm just going to get the test so I can stop living in this state of limbo!
Kevin Evans2, thanks for the input. I’ve decided I’m not going to rush into testing just yet—honestly, I’d rather not dwell on it for a while. Is it possible that those tiny specks of blood in the mucus were just related to ovulation? Since my period is already two weeks late, the spotting happened right around when I expected my next cycle to peak.
I really appreciate the feedback and the reassurance. It helps ease my mind because I actually went to see a specialist and paid for a full consultation $133. During the ultrasound, he gave this little chuckle—not in a mean way, just sort of casually—and said, "Aha, there it is, that's the cyst." I immediately started spiraling, but he just laughed and told me, "I knew you'd react that way; there's really nothing to worry about here." He noted it was outside the ovary and even wrote down the specific type of cyst in bold letters, just so any other doctor would know it doesn't require surgery. I think it might be some kind of paraovarian cyst... but anyway, let's not get sidetracked.
Thanks, everyone. I'll keep you all posted once I figure out what's actually going on, though deep down, I'm really hoping it turns out to be a pregnancy! Sending love to you all!
Good afternoon to all the ladies, women, girls, and mothers out there...
I’ve been doing some reading lately and thought perhaps some of you might be able to offer me a bit of guidance. I have a few questions weighing on my mind.
I’ve been trying to conceive for about six months now—sorry, I should say it’s actually been longer than that—but so far, nothing. My period is consistently late, usually by anywhere from ten days to two full weeks. I’ve spent quite a bit of money on pregnancy tests, only to be met with a negative result every single time.
Right now, I am exactly two weeks late again. Honestly, I’m hesitant to even take a test because I’m so afraid of another disappointment. Usually, my breasts get incredibly tender right before my period arrives, but this time, I haven't felt that at all. A few days ago, I noticed a tiny bit of spotting—just a few drops of blood—and I thought, "Okay, here we go, my period is finally starting," but then nothing happened. Beyond that, I haven't noticed any other physical changes.
Last month, I went to see my OB-GYN, and she told me everything looks healthy. My Pap smear results were perfect, too. The only thing noted was a small, clear cyst on my right ovary that sits just outside the ovary itself. She said it doesn't require surgery and that I shouldn't worry about it one bit.
On another note, I experience vaginal discharge pretty much constantly. Is that something pregnant women deal with as well?
Also, does the volume of semen play a role in conception? My husband produces very little; especially during my ovulation window when we are trying every day, there is hardly anything left—maybe just a tiny teaspoon's worth.
If anyone has any advice or insight, please let me know!
Thank you so much, and best wishes to you all.🙂
Angela Wright, thank you, thank you, thank you—I truly can't thank you enough for your answers! You've honestly made my day much brighter.
Hi everyone,
I have a few questions and would really appreciate some insight if anyone here has experience with similar situations.
My aunt was recently diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. I don't know the exact location, but it’s about 3 cm, and she's scheduled for surgery. I'm struggling with how to approach her because she's avoiding the topic entirely. Is this typically considered a major surgery? And since it's benign, is there a high chance of a full recovery, or should we be bracing for something more serious down the road?
Then there's my grandfather. He's 76, but he has such an incredible zest for life that we always joke he'll be around for another 20 years easy. Lately, though, he's been dealing with blood clotting issues, and every Monday he has to head over to Seattle for various tests. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and is it something we should view as a life-threatening concern?
Finally, my husband has a procedure scheduled in a month to deal with a vein issue—they'll be removing a vein—but they plan to perform it using just a spinal injection rather than general anesthesia. He's feeling pretty anxious because someone told him that if the injection isn't done perfectly, there's a risk of paralysis. Is it actually that painful, and is that level of risk realistic?
All three of these people mean the world to me, and I can't help but worry. I'm just looking for some honest perspectives... what are your thoughts on their situations?
Thank you all in advance!
