Throat swab / Throat culture in Health ·
Just a quick question... where in Washington, D.C. can I get a throat swab done, and what does the actual process look like?
This sounds almost identical to my experience🙂

I had three regular cycles—on the dot—and then, suddenly, the fourth one just vanished. No surprise there, considering we were being quite... adventurous🙂, so I knew exactly what was up. I started with two negative tests, but that third one? It gave me the biggest positive result you’ll ever see.

My advice? Grab another test or go get some blood work done at the clinic... Most likely, you aren't pregnant, but hey, better safe than sorry.

Basically, we took a test this morning—an Intim Plus—and it came back negative. And here I was thinking it was probably just some formality given all the symptoms I’ve been dealing with lately.

My last period was January 21st, and my cycles are usually super regular, around 27 to 28 days. Today is day 30, so obviously I haven't started yet, and the test really should have shown something by now 😢

To make matters worse, I spent the entire night dealing with cramps—they feel just like menstrual cramps, just a bit milder.. over the last two or three days, my hormones have been absolutely wrecking me; one minute I'm overwhelmed with sadness, the next I'm happy, then there's the brain fog, the headaches (well, okay, it was boiling hot outside today), and for the past 10 days, I've been peeing constantly like a broken faucet. I've also noticed some yellowish discharge, a stuffed-up nose (not even congested, it just feels tight and then clears up after a few minutes, happening all night for the last couple of days), and yeah, my lower abdomen feels soft and bloated too—it doesn't feel like it's just my gut 🙂 )

Now nothing makes sense. Is it actually possible that I've just imagined everything?? 😕

And what should I even do?.. Obviously, the very first thing I'm doing Monday morning is calling my doctor, but until I can get through to them on Monday... what would you all say to this... any advice? 🙂

Those stories about tests being wrong or giving false negatives—I mean, I always took those with a grain of salt (you know, testing too early, using them wrong, drinking too much water beforehand...), I truly thought those were just rare outliers.

Now I'm starting to think I'm losing my mind (autosuggestion is a powerful thing, isn't it?) and it's not like I'm trying to be one of those people who "wants to be pregnant" just for the sake of it—this just kind of happened by accident, and the idea of having a baby actually started growing on me over these last two weeks..

Please, help me out with some advice 🙏

I had two negatives myself... it was simply too early... then the third one was pure luck. 🙂
Try one more test, or just go get your HCG levels checked. Good luck... 😛 😛 😛
I was convinced I might be pregnant, so I fell for that little myth that you can take a test even before your period is late... Naturally, I went ahead and took a test about 4 or 5 days before my expected cycle—and nothing. A total negative. And just for the record, I bought the most expensive brand at CVS to ensure accuracy.

Then, the day before my period was supposed to start, I tried again (with a cheap drugstore version this time), and still nothing... At that point, I was certain I wasn't pregnant. But then my period didn't show up, so two days after the delay, I grabbed one more test and—lo and behold—POSITIVE. Like, a HUGE positive.

I rushed straight to my OBGYN, who, predictably, couldn't actually see anything on an ultrasound yet...

My advice to the ladies? Just hang in there! Don't go throwing money away on tests too early, and please, don't rush to the doctor until you're at least 6 or 7 weeks along...

Otherwise, you'll just end up stuck in limbo—not quite here, not quite there, and totally frustrated.
