So, I ended up grabbing an AMD Radeon RX 560. Money is a bit tight right now, so I couldn't go bigger, but hopefully, it does the trick.

Anyway, I had put off buying a GPU, but now I'm thinking about pulling the trigger by the end of the month.

So, for under $220, would an RX 470 or a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB still be a decent pick?

Keep in mind I have the option to pick one up in Germany, just mentioning it for availability—I doubt the prices will be significantly different.

I've been browsing online for the RX 470, and I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised by what I'm seeing.

I honestly think we'll see prices stabilize at a more permanent level by early September.

Wait, so the GTX 1050 Ti and the GTX 1060 haven't even dropped yet?

I see everyone is praising the RX 480 with 8GB, but how much of a difference does that extra VRAM actually make compared to the 4GB model?

From what I've been reading online, most of the heavy-hitting games released so far seem to run just fine on 4GB without any issues.

It’s not overheating (I checked right before the system crashed).
It isn't dust either—I stay on top of cleaning it.

Like you mentioned, the GPU might just be dying on me.

I did some Googling for repair shops, but since there are so many options around Washington, D.C., I figured I'd ask for a recommendation first. I've heard plenty of horror stories about bad service lately.

I don't mind driving a bit further if it means getting the job done right.

My PC is starting to die on me, and I could really use some advice.

Basically, I was just browsing the web when little pixelated squares started popping up on my screen. Then, the graphics went completely haywire. After a restart, it won't even boot properly anymore—Windows starts to load, but then the display glitches out and the system triggers an automatic shutdown to prevent further damage.

To make a long story short, this machine has been a loyal workhorse for years, so I haven't had to visit a repair shop in ages. Does anyone have recommendations on where I should take it?
