You really ought to take a look at this crash analysis put together by the Sky crew.

F1 Italian GP - Monza (Sept 2, 2018) in Formula 1 ·
Today’s race was a perfect example of just how disorganized Ferrari is when it comes to managing their drivers. I mean, they secure a 1-2 formation right after the start, and I honestly cannot wrap my head around why Vettel decided to hunt down Kimi instead of focusing on covering Hamilton first. That failed attempt to overtake Kimi is exactly what triggered the collision between Vettel and Hamilton. In my opinion, it was a completely reckless and brainless move on Vettel's part. You have to think about it—your teammate is leading the pack, and you have the entire race ahead of you to make your move. It’s these kinds of mistakes, combined with taking unnecessary risks in situations where they don't need to, that are going to hand the championship over to Mercedes-AMG on a silver platter. It feels like Ferrari lacks the backbone to look Kimi in the eye and say, "Look, you're the Number 2 driver now," especially since he's trailing by such a huge margin in the points. Instead, they just seem to hope they can somehow nudge Vettel ahead through the pit lane every single time. Even Mercedes openly uses those old-school tactics reminiscent of the Michael Schumacher era by utilizing a designated second driver. It’s such a shame; if they had put someone like Valtteri Bottas in that spot instead, and if Kimi were a bit more competitive, we might actually be seeing four drivers battling it out for the title.

It looks like Adrian Newey is actually staying with Red Bull, but only in a different capacity.

It’s actually pretty wild to see that Kubica was essentially outrunning Sirotkin by a solid three-tenths during today's testing session.

Sirotkin 1:21.822

Everyone here seems so baffled by how smoothly all these engines are running lately. Honestly, just look at the temperatures we’re seeing outside; you couldn't ask for better cooling if you tried. Even a high-performance Honda isn't breaking a sweat when it's sitting just a few degrees above freezing.

I honestly have to wonder what on earth the strategy team at Ferrari is thinking. It’s not just that Vettel lost a position out there; he’s also stuck running the oldest tires of anyone in his group.

That engine was a total disaster for Hamilton

Daniel Ricciardo managed to clock his personal best on the hard compound during the Second Quarter, which means he’ll be staying out longer than everyone else on track tomorrow.

Now we just need to see if Sebastian Vettel's tires can hold up for another 27 laps.

I was just reading some reports over on Motorsport, where both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen confirmed they actually went in to tweak the car's setup right before qualifying, hoping to squeeze out a little more pace. It’s pretty obvious, though, that they headed down a completely wrong path with those adjustments.

As a die-hard Ferrari fan, I’m officially calling it—after this race, any hope of a championship fight is dead to me. Honestly, if Renault actually manages to pump out an engine with 40 more horsepower than what we saw in Canada, I wouldn't be surprised if Red Bull leaves them in the dust entirely.

Here is the link for anyone who happens to be fluent in German:

It’s becoming pretty obvious why Mercedes has been running those medium tires until they're absolutely shredded during testing. I have this gut feeling that the mediums are maybe half a second slower than the softs at most—if they're even slower at all—but they likely last twice as long. Honestly, I think Mercedes is going to pivot to a one-stop strategy on almost every track. They'll probably lead with the softer compound and then just cruise through the rest of the race on mediums. Based on what we saw in today's race, I just don't see the logic in using the softs over the mediums.
Honestly, if that Ferrari had been even a single second slower on those Medium tires, Rosberg would have been absolutely fighting tooth and nail just to get past them.
That’s not really the point. We're talking about teams with massive budgets and entire departments dedicated to data, yet when I watch the strategy calls coming out of Ferrari, I honestly just want to facepalm. Most of us hanging out on this forum would have called a much smarter play—switching to Medium tires to undercut the Mercedes-Benz strategy. Even if they were slightly slower on the Mediums, you'd still have to pass them on track first to make it count.
Congrats to Nico Rosberg, though I have to say, Ferrari basically handed him first or at least second place on a silver platter by picking the wrong tires.
The only real silver lining is that he’s managed to keep the gap to Mercedes-Benz relatively small.

It looks like the Mercedes-Benz is running almost identical pace on the medium tires as Vettel is managing on his softs. If nobody ends up pitting early or dropping out, I honestly think we’re looking at the top three finishing in the exact same order they are right now.

I honestly have no clue what kind of logic the crew at Ferrari is using right now. Instead of just slapping a set of mediums on him immediately, they should have played it safe—he could've easily secured at least a second-place finish before Rosberg had a chance to pass him. At this rate, he’s probably looking at third unless Mercedes' tires completely fall apart on them.

I mean, there is absolutely no way he can dictate which engine they run. Even if he tries, he’s never going to lead that team to a Constructors' Championship.

It’s honestly pretty baffling how Ferrari decided to stick with those supersofts when they had the option to pit. They really should have just swapped over to the mediums and cruised to the finish line on this track.
