Hey ladies living around the Midwest, I could really use some advice... does anyone know where I can find some really pretty, high-quality lingerie to wear under a wedding dress?

Help, I need some serious advice! I’m starting to panic a little about the cake... My guests are coming over on July 26th, 2008, and I still haven't made up my mind about what kind of cake to serve. I was leaning towards something light, maybe a mousse-based one, but then I see those cakes covered in marzipan or fondant and they just look so stunning... I honestly can't decide which flavor would actually work best with that kind of decoration. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for me?

Hey everyone, I was wondering what kind of cake you all ended up choosing for your wedding? I'm particularly curious to hear from those of you who went with fondant...

Chloe Collins34 said:Hey ladies, my partner and I need to book a venue in Des Moines for sometime next year, so I’ve been scouring the web for contact numbers or anything useful, but honestly, I am coming up completely empty-handed...

I have a feeling someone probably already covered this in an old thread, but I scrolled through the first couple of pages and just lost all motivation to keep digging, so please, if anyone happens to know anything about event spaces in Des Moines???????????
thanx

I don't have their numbers on me right now, but I do know about Donald Trump's jokes and what Mia is up to... Since Mia is actually part of the management over at the Des Moines hotel, you should be able to just go through them to get your reservation sorted out...

Hey everyone out in the Midwest, does anyone know if there's someone who could put together a "light show" for an event? Is there any local company in the Atlanta-Savannah area that handles that kind of thing? And does anyone have a rough idea of what the pricing looks like...

Tyler Brown4 said:Just wanted to mention that I placed an order today from a lady in Savannah for a custom reverence (280 cm $433). We designed it together, and she is incredibly patient and professional. It should be ready in about two weeks. I also managed to find some guest favors there, and I’ll likely pick up the glassware for the tables too. If anyone needs her contact info, feel free to reach out. 🙂

Do you happen to have a photo of the favors so we can see how they look? And would you mind sending over her number or address via private message?

placidsurfer15 said:Hey everyone—has anyone here actually worked with FedEx out of Savannah for custom invitation printing?
I’ve been scrolling through Facebook forever and honestly, I just can't find a print shop that gets my vision. Most places just have these cookie-cutter templates where they swap out the text or just reorder some stock designs, but you can't really change anything else. It’s all just... the same.
Anyway, I ran into the folks from FedEx at a trade show in Indianapolis, and a woman there mentioned they do fully custom work upon request.
Does anyone know how their process actually works and what kind of damage it does to my wallet?

FedEx actually handled our invitations, and they did exactly what we asked for... She'll sit down with you, walk through what's possible, and give you a quote right then and there. Ours was pretty minimal—just a nice heavy cardstock and a little bit of embossing—but it looked great. We paid $1.75 per piece. Honestly, she is such a pro and works incredibly fast; she turned around 150 invites for us in just a single day... Good luck!

Hey ladies! I’m so jealous you all get to go to the trade show. Please, please, please post updates if you see anything cool or interesting while you're there! I actually have a few questions for you Midwest girls. I'm looking to rent out wine glasses, white chair covers, and even some actual chairs (haha)... but the catch is I need about 350 of everything—glasses, covers, chairs... ugh. Where on earth can I find that kind of inventory? My wedding is still six months away, but my head, my stomach, my whole body is already feeling the stress of it all, though I guess deep down I'm enjoying the madness too...:-

Hey everyone, I’m starting to wonder... who on earth is going to handle the flowers for you? I happened to hear that Palma in Djakov is actually really good at what they do. Does anyone here have any experience with Palma, or is there someone else you’d all highly recommend instead?

feralbison92 said:Midwest ladies, can I get some help? Where are you guys getting invitations or thank-you cards made? And what kind of prices are we looking at?

We're actually planning on getting all our invitations and thank-you notes printed at IBM Print over in Jackson... the owner is great because he can custom-make whatever you're dreaming up, though he does have some pre-made designs ready to go too. I don't know the exact costs, but everything seemed pretty reasonable when we looked...

Chloe Miller2 said:We rented our coffee mugs and champagne flutes directly from the restaurant handling our catering, so I imagine you won't run into any issues there.

Oh, that's such a relief to hear, honestly, that's exactly what I was hoping for... would you mind sharing where you ended up renting the cases and the dishes?

Morgan Stewart50 said:Regarding those coffee cups, if I were in your shoes, I’d honestly suggest heading over to the Target aisle and grabbing those sturdy brown plastic ones. You can pick up a pack of 50 for roughly around $4.00 - $5.00. It really isn't a huge expense at all, and they are surprisingly decent quality—in fact, a close friend of mine just used them back on October 6th! Now, I realize that isn't the most eco-friendly way to go about things, but they are just so incredibly practical since you can toss them when you're done, and who knows, maybe they're even recyclable anyway.

Thanks, but my real dilemma is that I really don't want to deal with plastic cups; I'm looking for the real deal, ceramic or glass, and I need enough for 400 people. I'm not entirely sure how things work here in the States, but do you think we could maybe rent them from a local catering company instead? What do you guys think...

Hey everyone from the Midwest, I could really use some advice here... Does anyone know if there's a place where I can rent out glassware for a wedding party? Like, maybe some wine glasses or coffee cups? I'm looking to accommodate roughly 400 guests...

Do you happen to know where they picked this up? I'm dying to know what the flavor is on the inside...

Does nobody actually have the phone numbers for some of these bands?

People are always complaining about how everyone is constantly busy, but how can bands be "busy" if absolutely nobody has their contact info?

Or is it just that we don't have them??

Please help me out here.

We're actually looking at booking "Friends" from Indianapolis. If you're interested, I'll try my best to track down their number... Just let me know...

I’m pretty sure Vigus over in Indianapolis carries chair covers... you might want to give them a shout and check there. You should be able to find their phone number and street address on www.ada.hr.

Hey ladies, I could really use some advice here. I’m still getting used to all the different dessert traditions since I didn't grow|grow up here in the States, and I'm feeling a bit lost on what kind of cake would be best. I tried a Red Velvet recently and honestly, it was delicious, but it feels a little too basic for a wedding reception... I really want to go with something that feels extra special. Maybe something rich and chocolatey? Does anyone have any good ideas? What kind of cakes are you all planning on having?...

Joshua Brown2 said:I'm not really sure. I might be able to dig up their number, though. Their son just got married a few months back, and since we handled his wedding invitations, I might be able to track down his contact info somewhere.

That would be amazing, if you could just shoot me that number in a private message whenever you track it down. Thanks so much!🙂

Thanks so much for the help! I was wondering if they happen to have a website or somewhere online where I could actually check out some photos to see what these carriages look like...
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Hey everyone from the Midwest, I have a quick question for you all. Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to rent some horses and a carriage for a wedding somewhere near Indianapolis or Jacksonville? I saw some options available in Washington, D.C., but that’s just way too far out of the way for us. It would honestly be such a dream to have that kind of beautiful setup... please let me know if you have any leads...
