Sam Jones8 said:So, let’s say you finally meet up in person with someone from an online forum—someone you actually care about a lot. Can you even imagine just jumping in for a hug the second you see them? Like, what if the vibes just click instantly and—bam—you’re hugging? 😁
But realistically, isn't that person still basically a stranger to you at that exact moment?
Personally, I can totally picture it happening. 🤷
Though, knowing me, I’d probably just stick to a handshake.
There are all kinds of hugs out there, right? Those casual, friendly ones? Honestly, those have happened to me every single time I've met up with someone from a forum. And just to be clear, these weren't dates or anything—they were strictly pre-planned hangouts with people I'd already spent ages getting to know online. It didn't feel like meeting a stranger; it felt like seeing an old friend.
Noah Cook87 said:I’m just now stumbling onto this whole thread, but I figured I’d jump in since my own post got nuked too (for absolutely no damn reason, obviously).
Look, I get it—the guy Alexander Gray2 was talking about was way too harsh, and maybe he shouldn't have phrased things in such a "degrading" way, so I can see why he got the ban hammer. But honestly, what really gets me (and I bet a lot of other users who've had their posts wiped) is how often I see these totally baseless, nasty comments calling inexperienced guys "incels," "desperate," "creepy," "losers," or whatever other label they want to throw around. There’s zero substance to it, yet there's absolutely NO consequence. Like I was trying to say in my deleted post—if we’re all supposedly aiming for some kind of "equality" in this country, then a woman insulting a man should be treated exactly the same as a man insulting a woman. It’s the same thing. "Subjective vibes" shouldn't be a thing in moderation. I’m seriously asking the mods over at Reddit and here on the US forums to tighten up the rules regarding any kind of gender-based insults, whether they're direct or just thinly veiled. We need actual standards, not just feelings.
Thanks,
Like I said before, if you spot a post that's doing this same kind of labeling and insulting, just hit that report button.
First off, he doesn't belong in there, period. 😉
Look, when it comes to the terminology we use on this forum, it really all boils down to the context. If you’re feeling targeted by any specific labeling or tags, feel free to flag the post to the moderators.
The reason your post got nuked was because of a warning issued to another user who wrote something like this:
"Who hurt you, girl? You seem so damaged that you have to lash out at total strangers like this."
Maybe you're missing the blatant ad hominem attack there, so maybe give it another read. Besides, looking back at what she actually wrote, I don't see her "lashing out" at anyone; she was just stating her opinion on the topic being discussed.
That whole post is just straight-up degrading toward women—and honestly, I shouldn't even have to spell that out for you.
Furthermore,
"And those few who supposedly love those kinds of relationships and engage with multiple people constantly—you can tell by their posts on other threads that they're mentally broken and completely incapable of being in a normal relationship or connecting properly."
Was I actually being too soft on them?
Feminism and chauvinism aren't the same thing, obviously, but seeing that statement now gives me all the context I need to understand why you're complaining.
Look, your whole premise is just one big generalization where you’re basically drawing this imaginary line based on height to imply they're shallow and exclusionary, plus you're throwing in those tired tropes about them being obsessed with muscles and money.
It’s honestly a total joke how inconsistent this whole thing is. I didn't get a single peep from anyone after my test came back positive, meanwhile, this coworker of mine—who started feeling crappy the exact same day I did and went through the same whole routine—got a call the very next day. Then there was this other lady at work who developed symptoms and tested positive, and they didn't bother calling her either. To top it all off, another guy on the team fell ill, and suddenly they’re blowing up his phone the second day to track down his contacts. It’s absolutely mental, just complete chaos.
Look, if you actually bother to read the rules on Reddit, it’s pretty damn obvious: discrimination based on religion is strictly off-limits here.
Look, you're totally free to air out your grievances and state your opinion however you want, just don't go around hurling insults at people. Go ahead and call out crimes if that's what you believe, and honestly, just respect other people's views and stances even if they drive you absolutely nuts and you couldn't disagree with them more.
What actually counts as hate speech?
Basically, hate speech is any kind of verbal or written crap that’s designed to publicly incite or stir up hatred against a specific group—or even just one individual—based on who they are. The whole point is to manufacture intolerance, division, discrimination, or straight-up violence, or even just to fan the flames of existing animosity until it gets way worse through public discourse.
Actually, my bad, I misspoke. Hate speech usually comes with a few days of cooling-off period, which means you actually handled things pretty well.
Raymond Booth40 said:I just can't. I start feeling completely overwhelmed if we don't talk for three months and make plans to meet up. It honestly makes me feel physically ill.
Look, I hate to be the one to say it, but what you're going through isn't really about the group anymore; you'd probably get way more useful, practical advice by talking to a therapist in town.😉
Raymond Booth40 said:It’s a shame he didn't find someone better. Personally, I'm just looking out for his best interests, so he can figure out the rest on his own.
I mean, seriously, what would even happen if you just walked away from him?
Raymond Booth40 said:My guy is a total narcissist too, honestly!
Look, dropping one random sentence every three days without actually giving us any real context just creates this unnecessary mess in a personal thread where people are genuinely trying to step up and offer some solid advice. If you want actual help, try to lay out the full story or give us some details, otherwise, what we're even talking about makes zero sense. Besides, if we're going to dive into open relationship stuff, we've got a specific dedicated thread for that, so let's just keep the general conversation over there instead of cluttering things up here.🙂
I've gone ahead and cleared out three one-day bans for people who couldn't stop spamming, being total trolls, or just drifting way off-topic. Since this is a personal thread, if you guys really feel the need to type away, there's plenty of room in that massive text box right next to the main forum chat topic. I just scrubbed over 70 posts, and honestly, once the next chat starts getting out of hand, I'm pulling the plug and banning the whole thing. Have a good night, y'all 😁
Raymond Booth40 said:He could have easily found someone much more interesting or compatible by age four. It’s not like every woman rejected him. And I definitely agree—he’s been playing games.
Plus, he has plenty of other options, yet he won't commit to any of them; at this rate, he could be single until he's forty. I actually feel bad for him. He's doing fine on his own, but if he actually found someone else, I'd finally have proof that his issues aren't just about me, but about how he treats everyone.
Wait, so you're saying you feel sorry for him just because he's doing okay right now? 🤔

It certainly wouldn't hurt if the other forum members stopped joining in on the trolling and egging people on, but I suppose at least everyone had a good time.
Give her a hand.
The veterans around here really ought to be able to spot a troll or someone just looking for a fight from a mile away. Instead of diving headfirst into the mud with them, we should just ignore the nonsense and let the mods deal with the cleanup once they finally step in. Honestly, watching people jump into these pointless arguments is exhausting.
Maybe we're being way too soft on them.
cosmicstag52 said:I'm with Lawrence Phillips on this one.
The chat room has basically gone downhill too—just a lot of noise with zero substance. If they keep posting like this, they're just going to drive everyone away.
The chat room is an open thread for talking about whatever you want. If you see someone breaking the rules, just report them.

I’m seriously hoping that post was just pure irony
Yeah, I’m totally on the payroll here

Paul Martin8 I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate seeing this kind of nonsense pop up on my feed lately. It’s like, does anyone actually read anything anymore, or are we all just mindlessly scrolling through the garbage? Honestly, it’s exhausting. Every time I think I've seen the peak of stupidity, someone else comes along and raises the bar, and frankly, I'm tired. My coffee was already cold, which felt like a metaphor for my entire mood today, and then I see this. Just... wow. Truly.
So, I just saw someone mention a "welcome gift," and honestly, it kind of kills me how much people overthink this stuff. You know that feeling when you first walk into a new job or move into a new apartment in a city like Chicago or Seattle, and everyone’s looking at you like you’re some sort of lost puppy? There's this weird, unspoken pressure to make a big gesture, like handing over some massive gift basket just to prove you belong. I remember back when I started my first real gig out in Austin, I was convinced I needed to bring in enough fancy donuts to feed the entire floor just to break the ice. It felt so performative, you know? Like, if I don't spend fifty bucks on pastries, am I even a "team player"? It’s such a shallow way to start a relationship. Real connection isn't about some shiny trinket or a branded mug from the company store. It’s about actually showing up and being a decent human being. People try to buy their way into acceptance, but all they’re really doing is setting an expectation that they can’t maintain once the honeymoon phase wears off. Just be yourself—even if "yourself" is a bit cynical and tired—and let the actual interactions do the heavy lifting. A simple "hey, glad to be here" goes way further than any overpriced gift ever could.😁
I can't see the image you're trying to show me, friend! It looks like the link didn't come through properly, or maybe it's just broken. Whatever it is—whether it's some crazy DIY project gone wrong, a weird piece of home decor that makes zero sense, or just something totally random you found while scrolling—try sending it again. I'm sitting here with my coffee ready to give you my unfiltered, probably overly cynical take on whatever madness you've stumbled upon. Just hit me with a working link and let's get into it.
You got any bigger ones? 😁
Thanks. 👍
Look, I’m just gonna say it because someone clearly has to: life isn't some choreographed dance where everything lands perfectly on beat. It’s messy, it’s loud, and most of the time, we're all just sprinting through the chaos trying not to trip over our own feet. You want to go harder? Fine. You want to move faster? Go for it. But don't come crying to me when you realize that redlining your engine 24/7 is a one-way ticket to a total burnout. I've been there, staring at my ceiling at 3 AM, wondering why I thought pushing myself into the ground was a badge of honor. It's not. It's just exhausting. kaže:
And that’s just how the cookie crumbles.😁
You think it's actually gonna happen? 😬
Gerald Thompson62 said:We don't really need a moderator who can't spot trolling or insults—especially when they aren't even reading the flagged posts. It feels more like they just have favorites and let certain trolls run wild because they think it's funny.
Don't sweat it, man, you're good in my book.😁
