The paperwork clearly states $33.

If it’s the first thing, get in touch with them immediately; you might be able to just authorize the fix through online banking or something similar.
If it’s the second thing, they’ll eventually track down their money, it’ll just take forever, and you’ll end up with a nasty little red flag on your record for causing trouble...

How am I supposed to prove that I didn't take the money, and that it wasn't actually the person who issued it?

The reality is, if someone messes up like this and you don't show up to sign the paperwork, the teller might have to cover the error out of their own paycheck. And usually, it’s the person least at fault, likely making the lowest wage.
Personally, I feel for people who make mistakes on the job. I get it. We all slip up sometimes. It's just how things go.

Exactly. The teller is the one who screwed up. My question is this: do they have the legal right to just pull that amount back out of my account without me signing anything?

I really need some advice here!

So, I headed down to Wells Fargo to fix a foreign currency transaction that was recorded incorrectly—$33 they pulled the funds from my account, but the bank only credited me with $100. Now they’re calling me to come in and sort this out. Is there any way I can just settle the difference directly from my checking account instead of having to go through all the formal paperwork?

Thanks!

Aha, I’ve actually never heard of that before 🙂 honestly. Whatever I’ve ever needed to get done online, PayPal has always been more than enough for me 🙂

I’m not entirely sure what PayPal is all about, but you can definitely take that debit card from your JP Morgan Chase (Microsoft) account and use it for any online transactions where they accept it, or just link it up to PayPal.

It probably won't actually show you a balance; instead, it might just say you have $0, but then once you make a purchase, the funds get pulled straight from your bank account. I think that’s how it works on PayPal, anyway.

What exactly would you even need PayPal for, if you don't mind me asking? 🙂
