Putin: A new arms race has begun! in World ·
It’s honestly laughable—they couldn't scrape together enough cash to sustain a much bigger and more powerful USSR back in the day, but now suddenly they're flush with funds because they're raking in all those dollars and euros from selling off their oil and gas.
Plus, you gotta realize that Russia is one of those rare freaking countries out there that doesn't even have any foreign debt to worry about, especially when they're sitting on massive piles of hard cash reserves and gold.

Back when the USSR was way bigger and even more powerful than it is now, they were dumping more than 30% of their entire GDP just into the military, and honestly, they still couldn't even touch the Americans in most categories.

The whole Soviet playbook was basically built on one terrifying assumption: if they ever actually went toe-to-toe with NATO, they’d have to drop the nukes just to stand a chance. On top of that, they were banking everything on sheer, overwhelming numbers—especially when it came to their tank divisions rolling through Europe. Their whole strategy relied on being able to replace lost hardware almost instantly because, let's be honest, most of that Russian tech was designed to be cheap, basic, and easy to churn out by the thousands.
Look, what the U.S. is trying to pull with this whole missile shield thing in Poland is basically just a massive attempt to strip away Russia's biggest leverage—their entire ICBM arsenal. And don't get me wrong, the Russians aren't blind; they see exactly what's happening. Since those missiles are pretty much their only way to play both offense and defense at the same time—you know, that whole nuclear deterrence game—everyone else is basically scrambling to stop them from pulling it off.
Look, let’s be real here—there's zero doubt that some missile might actually slip through the first layer of defense, but honestly, who cares? We've still got those massive American anti-ballistic cruisers like the Ticonderoga class packing SM-3 interceptors, and they're literally patrolling every single ocean out there, so it's not like we're just sitting ducks or anything.

If Russia didn't have all that nuclear hardware, they would've been nothing more than a bunch of pushovers for the Americans a long time ago. 😁

The American economy... man, that ship sailed a long time ago. ))

Listen up, people—September 11th, 2001, was basically the beginning of the end for American dominance!!!

And honestly, it's just the start of all these brainless takes, unfortunately. 😂

Honestly, all the Russians can do is talk big and sing those old battle songs, because when it comes down to actually racing with the US, they don't have the cash or the tech to back it up.
They didn't even have the resources back when the USSR was way bigger and more intimidating, so why would they have them now or anytime in the future?
Why do atheists... in Philosophy ·
Atheists are basically part of the family here, and honestly, half the people claiming they believe in God probably don't even believe—they're just playing it safe because they're terrified society will kick them to the curb if they come out as non-believers..

Look, all that is great and fine... But my point, besides what’s right on the surface, actually had a deeper layer to it...
Why should atheists have to suffer just because they don't believe? Why isn't anyone asking for their input or valuing their perspective when religious topics come up? And why can't atheists just get organized and fight for their rights? Because we *do* have rights, and they're the exact same ones believers have. We deserve the right
to practice our own lack of faith without some other religion being shoved down our throats, without being discriminated against, and without being ignored. Okay, look, most of the time those things aren't even guaranteed for religious folks either, but like I said, it should be the same rule for everyone.
Simple as that...

so what's the actual difference between a skeptic and an atheist in your eyes? an atheist believes
in the relativity of faith, whereas a pure skeptic's belief in relativity
spreads to other areas of existence that aren't even tied to religion. again
we're talking about a belief in the relative, just on a much broader scale for the skeptic.
another big thing that brings them together is that by seeing how everything is relative,
they either refuse or just can't commit to one single, definitive
viewpoint, which leads to this nihilistic denial of certainty
regarding knowledge, which ends up in a choice of indecision, though that
is itself a choice. atheists do this by opting out of the religious
component, while skeptics opt out of any metaphysical or worldly claims
where duality exists. another proof that there isn't really a hard line
between skepticism and atheism is that every hardcore
skeptic is effectively an atheist, because if you're pushing the idea that everything is relative,
then that applies to faith too. and if we flip it,
not every atheist has to be a skeptic, but it can be a great springboard
for them to carry those relativistic views into other parts of life,
picking up a stronger skeptical edge in the process.

Don't take this the wrong way... but I am feeling pretty skeptical about whether I'll ever actually wrap my head around your post. Between the grammar issues, the weird line breaks, and the random capitalization... 🙂
And yeah... I don't agree with your take on atheists. At least not for me, anyway, and I won't speak for others since everyone has their own baggage.

They don't have their own "Pope," their own "church," or anything like that... I’m just asking because I see these religious fanatics running around everywhere, proselytizing and protesting like crazy without even giving us a second thought! Like, hello!!! Atheists are a huge part of this country too! Wouldn't it be awesome if there was actually someone out there representing the one faith that doesn't believe in anything? 🙂
