Jessica Gonzalez said:I guess Barcelona fans wouldn't mind much, since their city is graced by Plaza de Catalunya. It might have been a funny little joke if they’d named this one Plaza de Catalunya too, just to show how much our city follows La Liga.

Given the current administration in City Hall, they probably would have just named it General Franco Square and his spiritual successor Florentino Perez Square.

brightpilot6 said:The New Right just gave us a masterclass in what true patriotism looks like: they offered us a rebranding campaign in exchange for a small fee—essentially just helping secure another four-year term defined by theft, cronyism, and corruption.

Honestly, how much of an idiot do you have to be to swallow that kind of rhetoric? 🙏🙏

A nation is often a reflection of its public squares.🙏

I mean, really? Is there truly no figure in American history—local or national—worthy of having a plaza named after them? "Republic Square"? That’s the absolute peak of their creative intellect?

Honestly, if they want to rename a street Leo Messi Square, I’m totally fine with it.☕

And let's be real—if it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have some compromised minister sitting in office right now, forcing us to deal with the headache of trying to fire him. I honestly can't wait for the third time they decide to join a coalition with the Republican Party just so they can "protect" us from their own corrupt "partners."

Every time I convince myself they’ve finally hit rock bottom, they somehow manage to surprise me by digging even deeper.

Between today and yesterday, we’ve witnessed the most blatant, shameless trading I’ve seen in all my years following this scene; it's as if they've completely abandoned any sense of dignity...

Are they seriously sitting there praying for Bog to swoop in and save them?

Biden's performance was on a whole different level compared to everyone else, and he actually showed some backbone, proving he's got what it takes.
The runner-up for me was definitely Yellen.

Look, sorry, but all those conspiracy theories floating around claiming Yellen is somehow related to Trump or that she was specifically put there just to bail out Walmart... man, that’s some straight-up lizard people nonsense right there.

Walmart has been expanding and dominating through pretty much every administration we've had in the US, and it just so happens that Yellen is exactly who the Treasury Department needs right now, serving as Secretary (because let's face it, that's the only way to actually pull the strings) to step in and save them. Yeah, sure, keep dreaming.

To me, Yellen seems like one of those rare, genuinely decent, level-headed, and capable people, and honestly, we could really use more folks like her.

As things stand, this administration is headed for a collapse, but I’m just not seeing what the Democratic Party stands to gain from all this since they were the ones who kicked the whole thing off—I don't see how they benefit from calling for snap elections.

Honestly, what hasn't Andrej Plenković instigated? Just look at him firing those Bridge ministers. It’s pretty obvious where we stand: the Republicans are holding steady, Bridge is circling the drain, and the Democratic Party is stuck at the bottom.

Did the coaching staff actually come up with that one on their own? It feels a little too convenient for them to suddenly stumble upon such a "brilliant" strategy, don't you think?

Who blocked whom, or lied to whom? I don't know. We can just argue that there were some heavy accusations made, but nothing happened. Maybe they really are all scum together, or maybe they aren't. I don't know for sure, and honestly, nobody here does either, so it feels kind of silly to fight about it. I still like to believe there's some morality left out there and that someone decent will eventually step up, and maybe half these crooks will get what's coming to them eventually 😁

I'm not going after James Anderson5, he's a nice guy 😁

Look, I get it—taking on organized crime isn't exactly a walk in the park. You can't just snap your fingers and make the mafia vanish overnight. But what I really can't wrap my head around are these politicians. They stand up there, acting like big shots, promising they’re going to shake things up and clean house, only to sit on their hands once they actually get into office. They talk a massive game about stirring the pot, but when it comes down to it? They won't even lift a finger. Is it all just theater, or are they actually that paralyzed?

I’m not going to say anything about James Anderson5; he's actually a pretty decent guy. 😁

You don't get to speak for me! 🙂:

Antonio Alvarez and Carlos Todoric—just another classic case of transition-era chaos. You ever look at how these things play out? It’s like watching a slow-motion train wreck where everyone thinks they're the conductor, but nobody actually knows where the tracks are going. Is it just me, or does this whole situation feel like a recurring loop we can't seem to break out of? ☕

Adam Williams2 said:It’s not really like that. It's not like Mamich is some kind of evil genius or anything, so, I don't know, maybe someone from the outside should have come in to stop him...

That's my point, though. What does it matter if you're on the inside and you know everything if you can't prove a single thing because they're obstructing you everywhere? 🤷

I don't know what else we're supposed to do, but I'm telling you, nobody else has even attempted this. And honestly, that turkey guy might be an idiot, but I'm starting to like him more and more. He’ll probably never stop being an idiot, but man, when you see that other moron constantly getting blocked by lasers in the middle of Parliament, it makes me feel like I might as well just give him my vote, damn it. 😠 😁

And who exactly was blocking our heroes from proving anything about Mamich? From what I can tell, the guy was conducting his little heists so sloppily that even a 7th grader in an American elementary school could have gathered enough evidence to sink him. Yet, I don't see anyone from the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or the Bridge Party ever actually trying—unless we're counting all those dramatic speeches about "draining the swamp."

Adam Williams2 said:Man, seriously, with all this trolling about the examples and the Champions League, I honestly can't tell when you even showed up here. 🤣

I guess any idiot could have pulled it off, but nobody else actually did, damn... that's just how it goes, I suppose.

Maybe half of them don't even have the right paperwork, though they act like they know everything and can see through everything. Even the heavy hitters, guys way more powerful than Petrov and those types, don't always know it all, I think. 😉

If you promise to actually file a formal complaint against ZZ and restlesssurfer97, I might just cast my vote for you in the moderator elections.☕

I’d love to be productive and contribute something meaningful, really, but they make it impossible by constantly trolling everyone.😢

restlesssurfer97 said:I feel like I made it pretty clear that I was just using non-profit media as a random example, nothing more than that.

But this second part of your post is straight-up about America, and honestly, you're spot on—around here, besides the actual tax rates themselves, the real headache is figuring out where all that cash actually ends up being spent.

Sure you did, but let's be honest—that wasn't exactly a random thought that just popped into your head, was it? 🙂 After all, they always justify cutting off funding by crying about cronyism and government waste—an argument that holds water sometimes, sure, but often feels like a convenient smokescreen.

Now that I'm seeing the same old tired stories about corruption and wasted tax dollars everywhere, I’m starting to wonder what’s actually happening behind the curtain. Is it genuine reform, or is it just a cover for something else entirely? Privatization, political vendettas, or maybe just rerouting the cash to different pockets?

restlesssurfer97 said:The tax burden is becoming a massive issue, especially over here in the States, and honestly, I feel like we crossed the line a long time ago regarding how much you can squeeze an individual worker, a small business owner, or anyone actually out there creating wealth.
Look, I totally get that the government needs to be socially conscious—they should definitely provide for those in need, offer healthcare to everyone, and look after kids with special needs, all that good stuff—BUT... there has to be a limit, because the resources used to fund these things aren't infinite. You can't just keep reaching deeper and deeper into people's pockets indefinitely without risking a total collapse, and right now, it feels like the whole country is teetering right on that edge.

For instance, setting aside any specific political drama, let’s just look at this logically: does income tax really need to go up just because the government is short on cash—specifically because they have dozens of "independent" media outlets that would go belly up without state subsidies? Are those seventy different news organizations really more important than the extra grocery money a regular guy could use to buy fruit for his family if his taxes were just a tiny bit lower? I won't even dive into the rabbit hole of how there's probably some ten-member committee getting huge monthly salaries just to decide which specific seventy outlets get to stay afloat.

I know, I know, I'm just throwing out the income tax and media example because it was mentioned earlier, but there are just way too many these kinds of burdens being placed on taxpayers that aren't even necessary anymore. We should have drawn the line ages ago, and frankly, it's high time we started cutting back on all this bloat that's being tacked onto the public purse.

And then you listen to most of our politicians, and you genuinely walk away with the impression that they don't even grasp where the money in the federal budget actually comes from, like they think some alien civilization is sending spaceships full of cash that they just get to distribute. That's honestly how some of our leaders come across to me. This recent take from Maras is pretty much in that same category.

Nonprofit media outlets receive about $450,000 in annual funding. That amounts to less than a dollar per citizen every year. The reason this funding hasn't been cut isn't because of any strain on the federal budget.

Which brings us right back to the issue you raised: the total lack of transparency regarding how our tax dollars are spent. If roughly 40% of my paycheck disappears into taxes and payroll deductions, I want to know exactly where that money is landing, rather than having to play a guessing game.

Paul Sanders5 said:Exactly. We’ll end up with zero media coverage, simple as that. If they can’t pull their own weight financially, then let 'em go bust.

I've seen plenty of magazines fold over the years. They just weren't making enough money to stay afloat, so boom—game over. Key's turned in the lock. I'm betting a few more will follow that exact same path soon enough. 😁

Honestly, that’s the only way this works. Anything else is just a dead end. I remember reading the Washington Post back in the day—it went from being a legit, respected paper to basically becoming whatever mouthpiece the current administration needed it to be. Total sellout move.

In America, no major news outlet can survive entirely on its own. Not even the big players like the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. You can't just leave everything to the free market in a country where the niche markets are this specific—I mean, this isn't some massive, infinite landscape where every tiny idea finds a buyer. Well, you *could* try that approach here, but then we'd probably end up with nothing left but local bakeries and newsstands.
