Our Checkmark said:It’s not even that they don't want to work—they actually do more and more—but it’s often through certain shortcuts. The quality is almost always lacking, sometimes to an unacceptable degree.
I’ve come to feel that India is overhyped; there's a lot of noise, but not necessarily that much actual value.
India might have been the early mover, but looking at the competition today, there are plenty of other countries where you can get much higher quality outsourcing done.
The issue with Indians is that they come from a completely different culture, so integrating them into Western business processes takes a massive toll on your nerves. On average, they aren't as efficient or inventive as Europeans, Americans, or Japanese professionals.
For now, the investment makes sense because it's cheaper to hire 12 Indians than one German, but with countries like Romania emerging on the global IT map, I think that trend will shift. We won't see a massive exodus, but I expect future investments will lean more toward those regions.
That being said, there are definitely exceptions, and some of the world's top experts are from India. What I said above was just a general observation regarding the average.
