NASCAR isn't boring 🙂

Anyway, BMW took the win in DTM.
I was watching the NASCAR Nationwide race earlier—man, what a wreck right at the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv5YYOekRoQ
Joey Logano ended up taking the win though.
Just caught the qualifiers—BMW locked up the front row, with Spengler taking first and Farfus right behind him in second. Paffet is leading the championship, with Rockefeller in that Audi right on his heels... looks like we're in for one hell of a race.
DTM is hitting the track at Daytona International Speedway this weekend

Leading the pack overall right now is Gerhard Paffet (Mercedes-Benz)
The Talladega jinx

The high number of crashes over the years, along with other factors, have led to rumors of Talladega Superspeedway being cursed. Stories of the origin of the curse vary. Some folks claim a local Native American tribe used to hold horse races in the very valley where the track sits now—and apparently, a chief was killed after being thrown from his horse. Others say that the site of the superspeedway was once an Indian burial ground. Then there’s still another version... that after the local tribe was driven out by the Creek nation for their collaborating with the forces of Andrew Jackson, a shaman placed a curse on the whole valley.

Ever since the track was built, all those weird occurrences and tragic deaths have just kept the curse rumors alive. Take 1973—Bobby Isaac actually abandoned his car on lap 90 because he claimed he heard voices telling him to just pull over and get out. And earlier that same race, back on lap 14, young driver Larry Smith died in a seemingly minor wreck. Then in 1974, right before the Winston 500, drivers and crews alike found multiple cars sabotaged by cut brake lines and sand in the gas tank.

For some people, Bobby Allison's 1987 wreck was just more proof that the curse was real. And then in 1993, things took a heartbreaking turn when Bobby's son, Davey Allison, died in a helicopter crash in the infield of Talladega.
Was scrolling through YouTube for a bit and stumbled upon this:

It’s actually wild how some of these guys walked away alive...
They actually brought in restrictor plates because of this mess

Something pretty similar went down back in 2009 too...

Jason Campbell70 said:Wait, how is the track record still from '87?

Were they running without restrictors back then?

What kind of speeds are we talking about without a restrictor versus with one?

Yeah, they were running wide open—speeds were hitting around 218 miles/h.
This Sunday, we're heading to the biggest oval out there—Talladega Superspeedway. They actually use a restrictor plate just to keep the speeds under control since these cars are insanely fast...
