Gaming recommendations? in Laptops ·
How much juice can you actually get out of this thing for gaming:

And honestly, is there anything cheaper or maybe even better than this for the money?
PC build for my kid - looking for advice in Desktops ·
Hey everyone.

So, I’ve been scouting out gaming laptops and my budget actually allows me to
pick up one with an Nvidia 960m graphics card inside.

That kind of rig can handle WOT and plenty of other games he
likes to play. It’s a solid choice since he can just lug it over to his
mom's place or take it to his grandpa's for the weekend. A 17" model is sitting at about $1,100.

But now I need a separate desktop setup so that when he isn't around,
I can jump on and play a few games myself.

It's been ages since I dealt with this stuff and the options are totally overwhelming. Could you guys help me put together a gaming build with the best bang-for-your-buck ratio? My limit is $900, and that needs to include a monitor that's at least 23". An SSD is a total must—I don't care about a standard hard drive because I've already got several 2.5" external drives for storage.

Thanks for the help!

Look, I wasn't even asking for a better deal.
I'm looking for a local shop where I can actually walk in, pick out something like an Intel Core i5
and grab five of them. Or pick out some RAM and snag ten sticks.

Thinking this would work was my first mistake. Honestly, I shouldn't have even bothered posting,
since nobody actually reads this stuff anyway.

Hey everyone.

Where around 124 miles the NYC area can I find a computer parts shop
with a massive amount of stock actually sitting on the shelves?

Basically, I want to walk in, pick my stuff, and buy it right then and there.
Places like Best Buy or Madison Square Garden types of shops usually have a tiny selection
in-store, and everything else they just order online. I want to grab specific components
and pay for them immediately so I can just carry them home.

I'm down to drive out to Vienna or even somewhere in the Midwest.

Anyone know a spot?

Right now, this is what I'm rocking:

But honestly, it's two years old and lately my
power supply has been making this weird chirping sound, and my PC keeps freezing up on me.

I'm looking to grab the smallest case possible that can still fit a standard
power supply.

Do you think a GTX 750 will handle World of Tanks on max settings?

I've got $333 set aside for the case and power supply combo, plus about 1500 for a new GPU.

Here’s what I’m running right now:

Intel Core i3
2x4GB RAM 2133
SSD 120GB
Some mATX ASUS motherboard
mATX case with a 200W power supply
-no dedicated GPU yet

My rig is super quiet, and honestly, I want to keep it that way.
The Intel graphics built into my processor actually hold their own
and don't pull much power.

I mostly just play World of Tanks on the lowest settings
at 1400x900, and I usually stay above 40 FPS.

Now I really want to crank World of Tanks up to maxed out settings
without letting my FPS dip below 40.

I'm planning to grab a new case with a
solid power supply and pick up a new graphics card too.

The big question is: Intel or GeForce?
I can spend up to $500 on the card.
What should I go with?

It's just a home PC mainly used for browsing,
so I'm also wondering if the power draw will be lower
when I'm not gaming.

Right now, this setup pulls less than 100W an hour.
