Hey everyone.

Where around 124 miles the NYC area can I find a computer parts shop
with a massive amount of stock actually sitting on the shelves?

Basically, I want to walk in, pick my stuff, and buy it right then and there.
Places like Best Buy or Madison Square Garden types of shops usually have a tiny selection
in-store, and everything else they just order online. I want to grab specific components
and pay for them immediately so I can just carry them home.

I'm down to drive out to Vienna or even somewhere in the Midwest.

Anyone know a spot?

Madison Square Garden - most stuff Ready in about 1-3 days
Future is the same deal, Best Buy only has like 3 out of 12 Intel Core i5 processors actually in stock.

It’s not even that much cheaper than buying it online or wherever else...

Look, I wasn't even asking for a better deal.
I'm looking for a local shop where I can actually walk in, pick out something like an Intel Core i5
and grab five of them. Or pick out some RAM and snag ten sticks.

Thinking this would work was my first mistake. Honestly, I shouldn't have even bothered posting,
since nobody actually reads this stuff anyway.

It’s hard to believe that none of the retailers listed have what you're looking for in stock. If you want to be 100% certain, just shoot them an email. Here it says it's available.

Just give them a call and ask—if they don't have enough stock ready to go right away, you might just have to hang tight for a day or two.

The whole premise here is a total disaster. Honestly, I shouldn't have even bothered posting,

Why the attitude? You didn't mention you were buying in bulk, nor did you explain why you need it in person right now.

Any major retailer should have stock ready—if not on the shelf, then at their distributors, which is just a day or two of waiting...

It’s a bit of a misconception that stores actually keep all that massive inventory sitting right there on the shelves. In reality, most of those warehouses aren't even located near the retail spots where you'd actually want them to be, much to the frustration of many shoppers. For instance, I've found that if I place an order with Time Magazine before noon, they almost always manage to get the goods delivered to my door by that very same afternoon.

People are reading this, they really are. It’s just obvious you’ve got some delusional idea of how retail actually works. Do you have any clue how much capital it takes to stock up enough inventory to satisfy a demanding customer like you? Or even how often customers like you actually show up? Seriously, it’s like you hit the jackpot and now you think the world owes you everything...

Look at the stores around here. If you can even find an Intel Core i3 anywhere, you might find one unit. Think about it—if you owned a shop, would you really sink $10,000 into a single item, just one damn graphics card, and then let it sit on a shelf for six months praying a customer like you walks in? In six months, two or three newer models will be out, and suddenly your $10k investment is worth $5k 😬 while you're just sitting there doing nothing... So what then?

Nobody in the US imports what you're looking for. And I mean an importer, not a local retailer!!!! Even if you did find it through an importer, they wouldn't sell it to you. They'd rather ship it to ten different stores at full price than give you a 5% discount just because you showed up with cash and risk pissing off all their long-term business partners.

Go look at Jeff Bezos and see how he handles massive inventory; you'll realize most places don't even have ten units in stock... Your only option is to fly to Chicago, walk down Main Street, and hit every single store just to scrape together ten units by buying one from each...
