Psoriasis [PLEASE READ FIRST POST!] in Health ·
To all my fellow forum members out there battling psoriatic arthritis—how exactly does it show up for you? Because over this past year, it feels like every single bone in my body is absolutely killing me, and I mean that in the most literal sense... especially my joints, which, strangely enough, seem to be targeting nothing but my left arm and leg (!?), if you can even believe that. I’ve also started noticing that the pain just hits a whole new level whenever the weather shifts... for instance, today, I can barely even move myself from one spot to another. I’m under the impression that there isn't a magic cure out there, but is there any way at all to take the edge off this misery?

Freud was an absolute master of self-promotion; honestly, you could almost call him a pioneer of modern marketing (regardless of what Kotler 😬 might think), because it is truly staggering how effectively he managed to sell his "product."

The thing is, his psychoanalytic method relied on patient sessions that—for them to supposedly have any real effect—had to drag on for at least three or four years, though five or six was preferred... and let's talk about this supposed "effect." In order for a patient to resolve their issues (...unconscious stuff, blah blah, childhood traumas, complexes, and so on...) it was deemed absolutely vital that the patient themselves arrived at the realization of the root cause of their psychological struggles. To put it bluntly, "Freud" just sits there asking questions while the patient talks and talks, all while Freud isn't allowed to actually reveal what the problem is—assuming he even knows what it is in the first place—because the patient has to define the problem themselves to solve it, and only then will they find the remedy. But oh, please, go attend five years of weekly sessions just to see if anything happens... Freud, give credit where credit is due 🙏
...
anyhow, according to Freud, homosexuals were essentially mental patients whom he would confine to institutions for treatment. And as a little side note, there is a documented story about some individual whom he allegedly "cured" (I can't recall the exact nature of the trauma involved) only for it to later emerge that the same person ended up in a psychiatric ward following an attempted murder, severe depression, or whatsoever... but Freud somehow managed to cover that up.

the bottom line is this: obviously, not every mental disorder stems from a miserable childhood, nor can everything be fixed through psychoanalysis; many illnesses are rooted in biological malfunctions (the nervous system) and require medication.

I was hit with psoriasis when I was nineteen, following a prolonged stretch of depression and self-pity—which, if I’m being honest, probably served as the trigger, since there isn't a single case of it in my family history... and it's a particularly nasty variety, psoriasis inversa generalisata, meaning there isn't a single inch of skin that hasn't been affected, which is just terrifying.

I tried treating it with every conceivable corticosteroid under the sun, both the standard ones and the experimental stuff, but absolutely nothing worked until I finally sought treatment at Petroleum... they prescribed me certain petroleum-based oils and creams, and the effect was instantaneous, and I mean literally immediate!

Of course, there was this wonderful window of time where it had completely vanished, yet everything came rushing back about six months ago, and now I find myself once again covered from head to toe, feeling utterly miserable because the warmer weather is approaching and I feel forced to hide my arms and legs.

In general, during that period when the flare-ups had almost entirely subsided, I was quite meticulous about my diet—well, I cut out red meat and refined sugar (meaning, essentially, every sweet treat imaginable), white flour, coffee, and alcohol (though, naturally, I made exceptions on the weekends 😁 )....I could have easily lost weight just by breathing, but I definitely felt better. And I made a conscious effort not to get overly stressed, trying to maintain a positive outlook... every single doctor I saw (and I cycled through about seven or eight of them) insisted that having a positive mindset accounts for nearly fifty percent of the battle, while the rest is down to diet, regular check-ups, boosting the immune system, and so on.

I don't know, that Petroleum treatment truly did wonders for me, clearing almost everything off my body, though I never could quite manage to resolve the issues on my scalp entirely.😠
