Our cake...
The Cookie House... 👍
Everything was gone... even the cookies vanished the second you mentioned them...
We ordered 15 lbs ... Just for laughs, and we went with the creamy ones... small bites (half the size of those huge bakery slices)
It actually ended up being cheaper than I expected 👍😉

Do you think $667 might be overkill for a wedding cake? I don't have a photo handy, but let me try to paint a picture for you—so, the centerpiece is this massive castle-shaped display, featuring eight smaller tiered cakes, confetti cannons, and an actual working fountain that even lights up? It’s for a guest list of 200 people, and honestly, everyone looks at us like we’ve lost our minds whenever we mention it... I’m starting to get a little nervous that we might have bitten off more than we can chew! That said, the cake itself is incredibly decadent (and delicious, I’ve already had a taste! 😉)—there is so much to see, and I think my fiancé is going to fall in love with it at first sight... anyway, please tell me I'm just overthinking things and that we didn't make a huge mistake!?😕

That sounds like a great deal to me... 👍

I’m totally torn between cake #59 and #20 on this list.
What do you guys think? Give me your best takes!

Like a Sachertorte... I’m thinking of one that’s really firm but still tastes amazing
My baker actually told me that if I wanted a Canadian-style cake, she could definitely pull that off—as long as the structure stays solid enough to hold up. She said she can make pretty much any dessert, provided it isn't too soft...
I’m planning four tiers myself... first layer is chocolate hazelnut, then a walnut layer with vanilla and fruit, followed by chocolate and fruit for the third, and finishing with a chocolate parfait for the fourth image

Man, this is gorgeous... honestly, it's exactly what I was looking for.
Why didn't I stumble upon this sooner? 😢

ironfalcon57 said:Hey there! I’m pretty new here and just started scrolling through all these amazing cakes, but yours totally caught my eye since my whole theme is centered around hearts (think heart-shaped invitations and those cute little red candy hearts). I was wondering if you could give me a ballpark figure on what a cake like that would run me? Also, would we need to go with three tiers for ours too? Thanks!

For 250-300 guests, you're looking at $4,500...

@Larry Hall... thanks 😍

Check out our cake 😍
ours is the only one with three tiers...

EVERYONE PRAISES THAT LITTLE LOCAL BAKERY...
they’re such sweet people, you can basically negotiate anything with them... honestly, just wonderful 😁

It was a total nightmare finding them. I asked around my neighborhood in Brooklyn, and nobody even knew what street they were on, even though they live right next door 😂
I spent nearly two hours hunting them down... 😂

And the cakes (not those dry ones you usually see at weddings, but actual bakery-style treats)... I ordered 10 different kinds 👍

Here's the breakdown:
Tier 1 (our 🙂 favorite): chocolate parfait
Tier 2: chocolate sponge with vanilla pudding and fruit
Tier 3: chocolate hazelnut

Do you have any idea how many pounds they've got there, Zachary Gray35?
Maybe I will find out... since my place in Chicago is closer...

Hehe, if I even knew where Brooklyn was 😂 THANKS anyway

haha... THANKS 🙏
where exactly is this Lido 😁 ???

How much are you guys getting per pound?

We’re expecting about 400 people, but I’m not ordering one massive cake for everyone. Instead, I'll get something for maybe 200 or 250, then have the servers bring out a second round of desserts after ours 👍

I can't recall which user here suggested swapping out the bite-sized finger foods for those big, creamy slices, but that was the idea 👍
Personally, my husband and I aren't even fans of those tiny little pastries—the only thing I actually like is a good chocolate fudge brownie. Plus, half my guests (mostly guys) aren't really into sweets anyway, so...
That's why we're sticking with large, creamy dessert squares instead 😉

Quick question 😁
When you order a cake, do you usually have to put down a deposit or 😕
if so, how much is standard?

I'm thinking about ordering one from Little Corner...

Thanks 🙏
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
I’ve also decided to go with Little House for my cake order...
As soon as I head down there during my third month, I'm going straight to them to get everything set.

Now I just need to find an individual baker in the Ivanic area who can handle some extra treats...
If anyone knows a local lady who bakes, please let me know. 😉
It could be someone from Long Village, Vrbovec, or Vrboveck Dubrava (that's where the wedding is), so any leads help.

Dana Wright4 said:A quick question for our Midwest girls...

I was just out in Indianapolis this past weekend for a wedding, and I am still thinking about those desserts. I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews about Midwestern baking my whole life, but this was actually my first time tasting the real deal...🙏

So now I'm wondering: what are the odds of me ordering my wedding treats from someone out in the Midwest? Would it even make sense financially to have them shipped or brought in? And more importantly, does anyone have a specific baker they’d recommend?

Thanks...😘

I'm actually curious about this too.
Most of my guests are coming from the Midwest...
but like the other girl mentioned, who knows how everything will hold up after a couple hours in the car 😕 especially during the summer heat. 😲

This is how I want our cake stand to look—one of those two styles... with four tiers...
The thing is, I really wanted a chocolate cake. But after scrolling through this entire thread (62 pages of posts, 🙄), I realized that fondant is actually dyeable, so I decided to go with fondant instead...
I was thinking about doing an ombre effect where each tier gets progressively darker from top to bottom, just to give it that chocolate look even though it isn't actually chocolate😬

Like, maybe the top part could be this color
http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?i...cake14lst1.jpg
(It’ll be a Baileys flavored cake inside)
And then it just keeps getting darker as you go down...

But then it hit me: most of you picked colors that match your wedding party (which makes sense), but my colors are burgundy, red, and white. Now I'm stuck on how to make the cake work with everything else... I'm not a huge fan of those plain white cakes with red accents. I thought about starting with white on the top tier and fading into red as it goes down, but honestly, I'm not feeling that either👎
Because I really just want it to look like chocolate... God, I'm being so high-maintenance...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to pull this off? Or am I just going to end up with a cake that clashes with the rest of the wedding?
