Please, don't make the mistake of overordering wedding sweets... We had 190 guests and if my memory serves me right, we ordered about 55 to 65 pounds of pastries for both the house and the venue, and we still ended up with a plate or two left over at home... Don't go overboard and just throw money away on it.

We ordered them here in the States. Think they were about $30... 😉. They're solid 😍.

Here is one more set, which I think is pretty hilarious 🤣 http://www.partykiosk.co.uk/ekmps/sh...uk_wedding.jpg
We had ones just like these 😍 they look even better in person 😍 though "better" doesn't cover it. They were stunning. 🙏
For 190 people, we had about 55 pounds of dessert at the caterer, and honestly, it was overkill... We even left a whole tray for the salad bar and saved some for guests to take home the next day... On top of that, my mom grabbed 3 kilograms to give to the neighbors, so there were leftovers floating around for days. Seems excessive to me.
steelfox15 said:Look, the reason I’m even asking is because you already mentioned you nailed that ratio last time. Just do a quick rough estimate and let me know—I'm guessing we're looking at maybe 6 to 9 ounces plus a slice of cake on top of that?
I'm not angry 😉 ...it's just always been one of those impossible questions to answer... If I remember right, I paid for $600 or something like that...so we're looking at maybe 55 or 60 lbs total...but I'll double-check. Hopefully I don't forget. It was honestly the perfect amount for us 😁 ..even one extra pound would have been too much. We actually ended up leaving a plate of food in the banquet hall for the catering staff later...😁
Yeah, I said 10 or 15 ounces per person plus cake...not counting the cake as part of the dessert count...

Wow... that's an insane amount. We had maybe 190 guests and only took about 30 kg, which was plenty...🤷 Just so we're clear—we weren't slicing the cake into portions.😉
steelfox15 said:So, I was thinking along the same lines about hunting down enough supplies for $20 maybe 65 people—since we're talking massive quantities here—but then my friend mentioned she was told to prep 1.20 kg of treats for just 12 guests. Meanwhile, these guys are telling me to calculate by the pound per six people? Honestly, I have no clue what their math looks like. John, how did they break down the serving sizes for you? How many treats per person were you supposed to pull?
Ugh, the same question again... hard to say. I don't remember the exact numbers now, but I think it was maybe about half a pound per person. We didn't order a ton—we didn't even pass them out—and we still had leftovers for the neighbors for a few days. I could check exactly how much we grabbed, but I'm at work and it's all back at my place.😉
If you aren't planning on sharing, don't overdo the quantities. You'll just be stuck with a mountain of food. This girl actually told me exactly what she needed since we're close, and it was perfect. She says people seriously over-order...🤷
Even my mom—who basically lives for baking—wasn't exactly sold on that Pro brand from the local bakery. Even though they’re way cheaper than the big names, we ended up going with a different pastry shop instead. That said, the people eating them seemed happy enough. I can't really weigh in personally, though; I've never been a fan of dry desserts.
urbancanyon7, I heard she was good too... but my mom told me she just uses your materials. I didn't want the headache, plus I have no idea if she even issues receipts. You never know when an IRS audit might hit, so I'd rather stay under the radar. I breathed easy that day...
velvetraven12, it’s not that much... but look... whether it includes tax or not makes a difference in the final price... okay, maybe not huge, but still a difference... hehhehe
I assume you're somewhere near Jackson, so check out the pastry shop at Grotta. They're charging $27/kg right now though. Let me know if you want the contact info...
wiredwolf73 — our pastry chef told me 10 ounces per person was plenty. I can't recall the exact number, but we probably went even lower than that. It was more than enough, honestly; there was actually leftovers... though we didn't bother serving them out. She mentioned that people always overdo it with the desserts at weddings and end up wasting half of it. Since we get along so well, she didn't try to upsell me just to pad her profit. It turned out to be just right.
We picked up some pastries from the Grotta bakery over in Jastrebarsko. I can't recall if the cake for 170 guests was $1,800 or $567, but we ended up with 80kg of sweets. We actually only paid for 70 because we locked in the deal way ahead of time...
rustyridge32 said:What was your per-person serving size? I’m getting conflicting advice ranging from 3.5 to 9 ounces.
I planned for 170 guests, and the caterer told me 37 pounds of sweets was plenty since we weren't doing individual servings. Ridiculous. I ended up ordering an extra 7 pounds... just pure nonsense. In the end, we still had an entire box left over—probably about 9 pounds total. Honestly, 3.5 ounces per person is more than enough. For us, it was 😁
