. . we used them before and the rate was $23/lb, plus we paid $667 for a cake serving 350 people! highly recommended...👍
.. we had pastries and cake from that little bakery with the smile in Beverly Hills!! Everything was absolutely perfect, both the sweets and the cake itself. People were asking about the costs, but since we had around 350 guests, our cake ended up being roughly $667!
granitecrane72 said:Since roses are the main theme for the decor, they’re going on the cake too... or something like that.

. . I suspect we'll end up with something similar, just using succulents instead.
. . So, what are you all planning to put on top of the cake? I’m drawing a blank. I can't stand those little bride and groom figurines they usually use at the venue where I'll be working, and I'm definitely not a fan of pigeons either...🤷
casualbison14 said:duh, obviously you can have different flavors... it’s just stupid when some bakery acts like they’re the ones calling the shots. i mean, it’s your wedding—you're the one cutting the check for the cake and all those desserts—so you get to decide the look, the taste, whatever. i don't get how anyone could tell you the first three layers HAVE to be parfait. Dama 19, maybe dig into why she even said that, but honestly? I don't see any logic in it at all...
. . There is some logic to it. The cake will have five tiers stacked directly on top of each other—not separate stands—with each tier being about 6 inches tall. To keep the whole thing stable, the first three layers really should be a denser parfait rather than a fruit-based filling like I originally wanted. Apparently, the fruit ones aren't "sturdy" enough to support that much weight without collapsing 🤷 that's what my baker is telling me...
amberseal22 said:Hey everyone, honestly, that whole hazelnut and white chocolate combo sounds absolutely divine!
I was wondering, though—is it actually possible to make a cake with, say, three or four different layers of totally distinct flavors? I’m thinking something like a nougat base, followed by a fruity yogurt layer, then maybe a whipped cream one, and topped off with a rich chocolate tier, all smothered under the exact same glaze so it looks like one cohesive masterpiece?
Has anyone ever tried something like that? It would essentially be four separate cakes stacked on top of each other.
My reasoning is that when you have guests, some people always crave chocolate while others want something fruity... so if we offer a little bit of everything, the server can just ask, "Would you prefer the chocolate or the fruit option?" instead of making a fuss.
I wanted my entire cake to be fruit-based, but the baker just gave me this sweet little smile when I brought it up. My cake is going to be five tiers, and she insisted the first three absolutely have to be parfaits—chocolate, hazelnut, and vanilla—and then the final two can be fruit or Black Forest...
John Hayes5 said:That works—hey, send me their number so I can give them a shout. Also, let me know if they actually deliver straight to the venue??????
Number sent. And yes, they definitely deliver to the arena...
John Hayes5 said:Yeah, they charge an absolute fortune—sure, the quality is decent, but I refuse to hand over that kind of cash just out of pure principle. Where are you even getting your sweets and cakes from???? The venue told me I have to use some specific bakery that carries official health certifications because of salmonella scares!!!!!!!!!! And honestly, I don't even know where else to look! I stopped by Malibu, and they're charging $37/kg for pastries and a cake for 80 people is $300. 😕
Try Smile in Forest Hills. They have prices around $23. I can send you their number if you want...
John Hayes5 said:Look, I'm based in Washington, D.C., and I've personally checked out a few different places around here—some of them don't even do tiered wedding cakes, and others? Honestly, they are obscenely expensive. Like, can you believe someone would charge that much for a wedding cake for maybe 80 people$833?????
What???? A cake for 80 people $833? That's pure robbery... mine for about 380 guests is going to cost me $833! if not less...
Noah Thomas31 said:Yes, exactly. They're from Quote, and they are incredibly professional. Everything feraltrucker22 mentioned is spot on! 👍
I stopped by their shop on Friday, and I have to admit, the pastries are fantastic. I’m planning on ordering some treats and a cake from them, but the pricing isn't exactly $22 70 dollars. At least, that's what they quoted me, and the specific cake I need will end up costing $667...
Is their company actually called Smile?
I was going to grab some pastries at Emma’s, but I changed my mind after seeing how much they hiked up the price per pound on $30!😠 It's getting a bit ridiculous...
. . .so if anyone knows of a decent bakery around here, let me know!
I had a similar experience, though I wasn't quite as vocal about it. I was at the point where I felt like I needed five or six Advil tablets just to get through the day, until my OBGYN suggested starting birth control. Once I started on Yasmin, everything just stopped...

I haven't had the chance to visit yet, but based on what I've seen online and in that Target flyer, the pastries look incredible. I can only hope they taste as good as they look.
I really need to make a trip out to the Suburban area soon!🙂
Word is, Friday is the best day to go if you want the full selection. I'm planning to grab a pound of assorted sweets and bring them home for my mom to inspect. She's the final judge, after all.😁
Daniel Barrett6 said:Excuse me, does anyone happen to know the current price per pound for wedding cakes at Emma's bakery?
Since I see so many of you praising their pastries, I've become quite curious about their pricing.
Hey. I stopped by there recently, and a pound of cake was $23.
I’m honestly sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience with them!
Personally, I think their pastries are flawless, and I’ll definitely be placing an order with them for my wedding!
I truly can't wrap my head around how things could have gone so wrong...🤷
granitetrucker10 said:There's a bakery right by the turnaround in San Diego (in that gray building facing the loop), I think they might still have some left over
Havel!😘
Where exactly is Kansas City located?
swiftmason9 said:Hey, I know you all have already shared how many treats you ended up going through per person. But, true to form, I’ve got a few more questions 😬 Were those numbers just for the reception area, or were they meant for party favors too? We actually decided against doing favor boxes this time (finally made a decision, haha), so I'm trying to figure out how much dessert we should grab for a hall with about 100 guests. It's easy enough to handle at home, but planning for a venue like this is stressing me out... so please, if anyone has any advice, let me know 🙂
The caterers told me to plan for 1.25 lbs per ten people since our tables seat ten. I was thinking one pound per table would suffice, but apparently, that won't cut it. Since I'm no expert on this, I guess I'll just take their word for it...🙂
It turns out I don't know the first thing about cake math... specifically regarding quantities and how much I actually need to order. I was under the impression that 130 pounds would be plenty for a wedding of 350 guests, but after reading through your posts...
