If you're looking for something a little different, I'd say check out Vanilla over at the Mall of America in New York City. Maybe it'll hit the spot.

😉

I’m having some chocolate mousse on a cake later, and my aunt explained that it's basically just this creamy stuff made from egg yolks mixed with chocolate or vanilla. Don't go thinking you have to crack fresh eggs right then, though—most pastry chefs over here use powdered egg yolks.
It's super good, I guess.

So, I was at this bakery and some guy told me that if you've got about 180 people, you'd probably need around 75 pounds for the whole room 😉

Asked about dessert earlier. Nobody had any leads on Apple at the Mall of America, so I just decided to swing by myself... The pastry chef we talked to was legit 😬, and honestly? Their stuff is adorable—looks and tastes perfect. A bit pricier than your usual sweets (maybe 3-$$1.25 per piece, so maybe 2 or 3 each) but they totally blew me away (they gave us a few to try first). We’re also talking about a cake order, just waiting on the quote 😳 before I make a call. Just figured I'd mention it in case anyone wants something a little different... I'll post an update once I get the price. Later! 🙂

There's a bakery right by the turnaround in San Diego (in that gray building facing the loop), I think they might still have some left over

So, I grabbed like 2kg of pastries from Kansas City this past Friday for a birthday bash. While I was out, I checked in with some other local spots since I’m thinking about using them for a wedding later on—they're super easy to work with and honestly just delicious. The guy told me that if you're feeding around 170 people, you'll probably need about 35kg for the buffet. For my little group, we did maybe 5 or 6kg, and you can always do custom sizes for guest boxes if you want. He mentioned they do cakes too, though I’m not really sure how their cakes stack up. If anyone knows, let me know.
I was also thinking about checking out Meli's Bakery. I haven't actually tried their stuff yet, but I've heard nothing but good things. Would love to hear what you guys think. 🙂
