Just finished sorting out my cake order with Grabar... It's gonna be a hazelnut and caramel parfait... The lady running the shop is seriously awesome...

Man, I was actually thinking about heading over to Grabar tomorrow to finally lock in that wedding cake order... I mean, I know their pastries are killer, but I haven't actually seen one of their wedding cakes in person yet (besides just scrolling through photos online). I really have to give a shout-out to my boss, though—she actually whipped up a few little cookies exactly how I wanted them just so I could get a taste... They were pretty good, honestly, but I think I’m still gonna go with the parfait...

So, I’ve finally decided I'm gonna grab a cake from Grant's Bakery. If anyone has any thoughts or knows if it's actually any good, please let me know before I put down a deposit!

We’ve finally hit a bit of a lull with the wedding stuff too, though there's always *something* popping up, isn't there?🙂 Right now, we're mostly focused on our future place...
The big win is that I found an aunt who’s basically volunteering to bake all my cookies. Once I get this cake situation sorted out exactly how I want it, I’ll be pretty much set with the major milestones... Ugh, don't even get me started on the invitations... we can tackle that headache another time😍
So, what kind of cake are you thinking about doing?

Guys, I am seriously over the moon right now... So, I swung by this local bakery this morning—the one where I’ll probably end up ordering my cake—and was chatting with the owner about what we could do with a hazelnut and white chocolate combo (I totally pushed for that... honestly, I'm just still mourning the fact that they stopped making those amazing white chocolate and hazelnut bars from White Castle🙏). She was a little hesitant about using white chocolate in the frosting, though, because she thinks it can taste a bit oily or cheap... but then she hit me with this genius idea! She suggested adding a thin layer of white chocolate over the sponge before the cream goes on, so you get that perfect mix of creamy and crunchy... I am absolutely obsessed with that idea, so I had to share... 👍 Plus, she was sweet enough to offer to whip up a few different versions of the dessert so I can taste them all and figure out if that's actually the vibe I want before we commit to the final recipe! I'm just feeling so good about this whole thing...😍

(image), and here’s my absolute dream cake... just minus all those massive roses sitting on top

I honestly think you’ll be totally fine with that. I actually heard somewhere that they usually do a different theme for every floor, so it felt a little weird to me that you wanted everything to look identical🙂 One thing I am tripping on, though, is how the servers are going to handle it since they usually just bring out whatever comes out of the kitchen. This whole ordering situation might turn into a total circus, but hey, maybe you can just grab one of the managers and work something out... Anyway, which restaurant are you guys doing the wedding at?

Help, help... I desperately need some solid recommendations for cookies and cake. Honestly, looking at all these prices lately with inflation being what it is, everything has gone through the roof! Most of these dessert prices are totally blowing my budget out of proportion (like, twice what I expected to pay)... My biggest worry is the cake, though. I’ve got my heart set on this hazelnut cake with white chocolate parfait and a white chocolate glaze, and I’m terrified it’s gonna cost an absolute fortune... Does anyone know of a good local bakery that can whip up pretty much anything you can dream up without charging a ridiculous amount??
