Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
I don't follow what you're trying to say here. Could you please clarify? kaže:
It looks like we’re most likely heading down to California... but now I have to wonder—has anyone here actually hired a Microsoft photography studio for a wedding? We're currently considering putting down a deposit with them.🤷

I’ve heard people mention them before, but I haven't actually seen any of their shots from the Easter services—only the stuff from Christmas and Communion, since they usually film those specific events at my local parish here in the States. Honestly, I haven't heard a single bad word about them; if anything, I think someone actually gave them a glowing review!

The food is fine, though I personally don't eat much when it comes to mashed potatoes—but honestly, I can't recall ever having any issues!👍

Feels like nobody’s even shown up yet... seriously? Just me?
I didn't catch him being mentioned. Not even once.🤷

California is perfectly fine! I've actually been there for a party twice! 👍

I’ve actually attended the gala at Dollis twice now, and honestly? I can only offer my highest praise.👍

I hosted a party over at Dollis recently, and honestly, I’m almost at a loss for words—aside from saying it was absolutely flawless! From the incredible spread of food to the top-tier service and the stunning decor, everything was just perfect. Everything was handled with such care!👍🙏😍

What exactly do you think you're doing? You seem to be under the impression that praline is some kind of magic ingredient that can substitute for a proper base, but let's get one thing straight: praline is nothing more than a brittle mixture of sugar and almonds. It’s hard, it’s crunchy, and it certainly isn't going to help you rise. If you think you can just toss that into a bowl and expect a decent cake to emerge, you are sorely mistaken. How on earth do you expect to get any kind of sponge or biscuit out of that mess?

I would love to get some advice from any fellow cake enthusiasts out there...
Basically, I am absolutely in love with this specific cake style, so I wanted to see if it is actually feasible to make them this tall while still keeping three tiers like the ones in the photo. My local bakery told me that the layers would end up being way, way shorter than what you see here...
P.S. It's a fruit-based cake, so maybe that's part of the issue...

You can definitely pull off a three-tier design like that, but you're right—they will turn out shorter. That lady at the bakery was likely referring to the weight of the sponge itself. If you're truly aiming for those towering, dramatic layers, you'd usually use something like a croquant base finished with marzipan or a heavy cream coating—at least, that's what I was told when I went digging for answers myself!

Linda Williams97 said:I recently had a slice of wedding cake at a reception that was covered in marzipan... but I mean the soft, high-quality kind. Personally, I think it's fantastic; it’s incredibly smooth. I suspect you might be thinking of that rock-hard stuff they use for modeling, which isn't how you glaze a cake. There is a much softer variety that works beautifully. It’s sweet—perhaps too sweet for some, but just right for others—but if you ask me, it's delicious.

That’s exactly right! We actually had a cake with that soft marzipan, and it wasn't even overly sweet! To be honest, I usually can't stand marzipan and didn't want it on our cake at all, but once I saw the photo and the pastry chef at the bakery explained it wasn't the heavy stuff I was imagining, I was sold! Besides, if anyone doesn't like it, they can just peel it off and enjoy the cake underneath, right?!!🤷

Here is a shot of our actual cake! So yummy! There were five different flavors hidden under that marzipan layer!

James Ramos said:What a shame. It looks like we can't find anything like that here in the States. I might try showing a photo to a local bakery and see if they'll attempt a custom build for me.

Unfortunately, that's about your only option! 🤷 Good luck! 😍

To be perfectly honest, I haven't the slightest clue where I stumbled upon it. I just typed "wedding cake" into Google and—presto!—there it was!

That is quite enough cake for one day! Honestly, I feel a bit nauseous just looking at it all! 🙂
