Look, if they’re chauffeuring it straight to the hotel, you’ve gotta pay for the thing upfront—plus you have to put down a $167 deposit for the stand, which you get back once you drop the stand off after the wedding. But if you're just swinging by to pick it up yourself that day, then you can just pay when you grab it.
I went ahead and paid for everything in advance, including the delivery fees, so they just dropped it right off at the restaurant for me.

If anyone here is still on the fence about grabbing a Machine Cake from Vincek, let me just say—Vincek is 👍👍👍👍👍👍. Seriously, if I were getting remarried tomorrow, I’d definitely buy this thing again because it was just freaking delicious 😉 !!!

I’m thinking along these lines, though without the black flowers... hopefully it turns out alright. Still haven't settled on the dessert menu. Maybe I'll go with Vince Lombardi? I hear people rave about his stuff.

If you're looking for a cake like that, I definitely recommend Vince.👍

So I grabbed these two cakes from the link for those girls who said they liked them—you know, the ones who didn't actually know how you "download" a cake from the internet 😉.

Personally, I’m feeling the first one 😍

Honestly, I have to give a massive shout-out to John Smith’s bakery in Washington, D.C. 🙏 👍 🙏 👍

They actually delivered the cake right on schedule—just like we agreed—and they styled it so perfectly... it was exactly that simple, clean look I was going for. And man, that flavor... mmmmmm... 👍
All I can say is that out of three double-layered cakes (which is basically 6 layers total), there isn't a single crumb left. 😂 👍

Kimberly Bishop22 said:I am absolutely obsessed with the idea of doing something like mini cupcake-style servings... basically, we’d have one beautiful little showstopper cake on top just for us and our wedding party—something to cut for the photos—and then instead of slicing up a massive traditional cake, every single guest gets their own individual, perfectly portioned mini cake served right on their plate. It feels so much more elegant and intimate than the old-school way of passing around messy slices, don't you think? 🙂 Now, I’m dying to know—does anyone have a clue if this approach ends up being more expensive than your standard large tiered cake? And has anyone here actually pulled this off at a wedding before?? I'd love to hear your experiences! 😁

I actually wanted to do that exact same thing at my wedding because my friend had it and—oh my god—not only was it absolutely gorgeous, but it was seriously delicious😍 so I did a bit of digging at various bakeries to see if anyone could pull it off. I found a few places that do it, though prices vary wildly from like $15-$10 (depending on the shop). I even checked with John Smith since my friend used them, and they told me it was going to be $8.25 per piece, which honestly felt like way too much since I have 250 people coming, so I ended up passing on it. 😢
But hey, if you can swing it, or if you don't have a massive crowd—definitely go for it! 😍

Sarah Taylor4 said:There is absolutely no way you’re saving money $667 if you're baking all those treats at home.
First off—you can't just bake them out of thin air, so obviously you need ingredients for the cookies and cakes
Second—you actually have to bake them, which means electricity or gas (depending on what kind of oven you've got, and you'd probably need at least two or three just to handle that much volume)
Third—you basically need a crew of at least four or five women ready to help you out for the entire week leading up to it
Fourth—you need a dedicated cold storage space just to hold everything so it doesn't spoil

Now, look, in my neck of the woods, people *do* bake at home, but usually they hire one specific woman who specializes in this stuff—and even then, she needs a whole squad helping her every single day

The thing is, we also have this tradition (I think I mentioned this somewhere before) where during the week before a big wedding, everyone brings an offering. I mean neighbors, relatives, basically anyone invited to the wedding comes by with supplies—eggs, flour, walnuts, sugar, chocolate... though lately, people mostly just bring cash. So maybe you only have to buy a few small things, but most of the heavy lifting is already covered.
But honestly? It's an insane amount of work. The house is packed full for a whole week straight. Personally, I'm not a fan of the chaos, but I know people who did it when they had their first kid and they're already planning to do the exact same thing for the next one.

Thank God my mom or my mother-in-law didn't come up with these kinds of ideas😂 because I'm already losing my mind with everything else I have to deal with☕ let alone having to spend an entire week helping bake cookies... I'm pretty sure I would burn every single thing I tried to bake.😂

Honestly, I’d probably throw a few more little details onto this one—just some extra flair, I guess—but even as it is, it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s so simple, which is the best part... everyone can just jump in and add their own little touches if they want. I'm totally digging that vibe 👍

silentskipper25 said:Listen, my cakes are gorgeous! But honestly? I truly believe the most stunning, delicious wedding cake is the one you make with your own two hands—whether you’re doing all the decorating yourself or teaming up with your favorite people. For my own wedding back in 2015, I baked treats for 160 guests with my mom and a close coworker helping out, and my coworker helped me pull off a cake that looked straight out of a fairy tale. Everything should be done with love. I feel like nowadays people don't put enough heart into their weddings; it's just way too easy to grab a catalog, order everything, and call it a day. People get exhausted before the big day even starts! If your partner is worth the effort, nothing should be too much trouble. Let's be real: the first major fight in a marriage is usually about money, and those wedding costs always come knocking right after the honeymoon. Things are great now, though. At the end of the day, it's just one single day in your life, but if you involve everyone you love, you can work miracles. We did our own decor, decked out the car ourselves, made the cake and sweets, and even hired our own local caterers and staff. It was absolutely magical and we still feel like.........

Look, honey, I really don't want to get into a whole debate about "how things used to be" versus how they are now, but the biggest, most ridiculous thing is when I end up stressing out my close relatives a week before the big day just to save a few bucks $667 when nobody is going to pay me back for that lost time or those frayed nerves during those $667... I'd much rather just work an 8-hour shift at my job and earn the cash to buy those cakes properly. Making them is a pastry chef's job, not mine! Besides, I don't know what it was like back in the day, but today, brides actually focus more on the preparation than they used to, because it’s not just about the dessert and the cake anymore—there is so much more to it than that.

Hey everyone! I’m honestly not even sure if this is the right spot for this question, so if I’ve totally missed the mark and am posting in the wrong category, mods—please just give me a heads-up instead of coming for me...

- So, does anyone know where I can actually track down a chocolate fountain?? Like, who even handles those kinds of setups?? And what are we talking about price-wise—is it gonna break the bank? 🤷

Thanks a bunch....

amberseal22 said:27, how much would it actually cost to have Vincent deliver a cake to you? I’ve always had that same craving myself, but I really wouldn't want to spend more on the delivery trip than I did on the actual dessert! 🤷

So, I'm headed out from New York City all the way to Iowa—specifically Des Moines— $100 😁

I mean, their cakes are freaking expensive—so I guess God better make sure they’re actually delicious too. ☕ ....
Look, shipping isn't some massive extra expense—it’s just basic math. They basically just look at how many miles you're from New York City, multiply that by their per-mile rate, and boom, there's your delivery fee. I guess it's pretty straightforward, though if I recall correctly, they usually offer free shipping right in New York City.
So, they don't really have this fancy catalog of gorgeous cakes—it's just all the same basic, standard stuff. Honestly, you kind of have to bring your own photo if you actually want something specific, you know? But I mean, every single person I asked who ordered a custom cake from them said they nailed it perfectly... like, they actually made exactly what was in the picture, and everyone was super happy with how it tasted too. So, we figured, why not just take the gamble? We decided to just go for it, show them what we wanted, and whatever happens, happens. It'll be fine, I guess. 🙂

So, I finally locked in our wedding cake with Vincent today—plus, we’ve got this lady from Savannah whipping up all the cookies for us 😍. Honestly, everyone we know has been obsessed with her sweets so far, so I’m really crossing my fingers that we get lucky too 😁.

Linda Ward312 said:Quick question for anyone planning on sharing homemade treats for the holidays: how much stuff are you actually putting in each box? I read somewhere that about 5 or 6 ounces is a decent amount per container.

Also, where are you guys picking up the packaging, what’s the damage on price, and who’s doing all the actual packing work?

Over at Jack & Jill, the boxes are $1.00 plus if they handle the assembly too, then $1.00, which means $2.00 just to cover the box and the labor ($200 seems pretty pricey for just 100 boxes).
At Sugarman, they charge $1.25 for the box itself, but they throw in the packaging for free.

So, I found some boxes online for $1.75. It seems kinda pricey, but since I managed to save a bunch on stuff like car decals, invitations, thank-you notes, and confetti—probably around $1333 total—I'm definitely just gonna order these online and deal with whatever happens 😁... It's not like I was being super stingy or anything, but I made it work! Since I saved so much there, I've actually got some cash left over for other random nonsense 😂

restlesssailor66 said:a few cookies (finally sitting down to write this now) I tried about ten different kinds—I didn't have enough time to wait for them to slice up the other varieties—but honestly, every single one was incredible. The absolute standouts, though? Those three-chocolate sticks with red pepper and that cheese pie... oh my god, that cheese pie is exactly like how my mom makes it. I’ve seriously never had anything like it anywhere else 😍
I'm heading back there this coming Monday to grab some more fresh stuff and treat myself 😍

The info on the cake is on the previous page, I moved it 🙂

Wait, they actually have those amazing cheese pies?? 😍 Can someone DM me the address or something?? 🙏

I actually tried these desserts at a wedding about a month and a half ago... easily the best ones I've ever had in my life... they were absolutely incredible. They're made by a woman who runs her own catering business rather than a traditional bakery; she works exclusively for weddings and high-end private events.

Mignonne (I think that's how you spell it?!) is freaking amazing!!! Both their cakes and their pastries are top-tier, but the catch is they won't deliver outside of Washington, D.C., which is a total bummer for me. Still, I'd highly recommend them to anyone.
Anyway, I'm heading out, but I'll be back later to see if anyone else has some good dessert ideas! 😉

velvetraven12 said:It’s all the same... just... 🙄 my favorite restaurant is actually in a small town in the Midwest!!! 😁
Over by Sablic... even he won't serve homemade pastries... so clearly that strictness isn't just limited to Washington, D.C.! In any case... whenever you head into a meeting, you absolutely have to ask... whether you're in a local diner, Washington, D.C., Miami, or a small town in the Midwest! 😉 That's my take on it, anyway! 😁

you're totally right about all that—even here they want those rules in place, but they also know how to bypass them if you cut a deal where you agree to pay the fine instead of them if things get messy. so, yeah, that's one thing, but as for the rest... I don't know... I just really hope most people either buy treats with a proper label or just make them from scratch because that's honestly the best way, but hey, whatever works for people...
looks like you've already got everything organized for the wedding, huh? I feel like I'm only halfway there 😉

velvetraven12;16651595]so you just love to argue??? ... most of those grandmas baking cookies—and I even know women who work over at Vince—don't bother with all those official labels... clearly we're moving in different circles... but my takeaway is that I have to be careful about who I buy treats from and what a restaurant actually expects... and yeah... it’s not exactly simple! For me, it's way easier to find cookies that already have a label than to lug homemade stuff down to the health department... there are two sides to this... people need to understand both! 😉

everything's fine....👍 , look, I'm not trying to pick a fight, really, but I don't live in NYC and I know how things work around here..... obviously it's totally different because I know in NYC it's not exactly safe to just grab cookies from some grandma at a farmer's market (I lived in NYC, so I know), so you're better off hitting a bakery, but where I am, it's fine to buy from ladies running small home businesses or people baking on the fly because the health department doesn't give us a hard time and you get your permit fast—you just gotta bring a tray of goodies in for testing and boom, you're done.... anyway, sorry if I sounded harsh, I didn't mean to (my PMS is absolutely wrecking me 😂), it just bugged me a bit when you said I wasn't telling the truth, when in reality, it turns out we're just from different parts of the country and everything is different everywhere.

velvetraven12 said:That simply isn't true...not every restaurant accepts items without documentation. For instance, my restaurant won't touch them! 😉 And that's precisely because the risk doesn't just land on your shoulders; it lands on theirs. If there's ever a foodborne illness outbreak, they're the ones facing the massive fines!
You could easily get proper documentation from a local farmer's market vendor so that you can safely deliver those treats to the health department!

Look, man, people here are basically ready to follow anyone blindly, and now we're arguing over whether specific restaurants take outside food or not.... I was talking about most places because, let's face it, they usually do 😲 but then you're the one left holding the bag and paying the fine if something goes wrong. Though, to be fair, I don't think anything truly horrific has ever happened at a wedding because of those cookies—most of the drama I've heard about was just issues with an uncertified wedding cake. When you buy from a lady at a local farmers market, nobody is really checking the paperwork for cookies, it's not like we're living in the Middle Ages or something. These are just local women who know how to bake amazing treats, and most—and I mean most—of them actually get the proper certification done.
🙂

urbancanyon7 said:Hmm. Actually, anyone baking wedding cakes these days really needs proper documentation. Apparently, most high-end restaurants won't even touch them without it.

So, she either uses her own supplies or yours, depending on their deal.

Look, not every single baker has all the official paperwork ready to go, but you can totally sort out those certifications yourself—it shouldn't cost more than maybe $67. To be exact, I'll know for sure in two weeks once I head down to our local office to ask around, then I'll let you guys know. Basically, restaurants will still take your treats without the certification, but it's on you if some health inspector shows up—so, just to be safe, do it for yourself and for the restaurant's sake... most of the ladies who bake for weddings already know exactly where to get this stuff done, so just ask them. Most of my friends actually took a tray of sweets over there for testing about three days before the big day (and these were treats they'd been handing out to guests the day before the wedding!) and it only cost $50. They gave the certification to the restaurant and kept a copy for themselves, just in case the original got lost and someone tried to claim they didn't know what was going on. And that was pretty much it.
