My cousin actually used Heartfelt Helper; they really are the most affordable option available, and the desserts are simply wonderful...
William Nguyen8 said:So, I finally tracked down the cookies (for Srčeko🙂🙂), and now I’m on the hunt for cookie boxes (to pass them out) and trays (for the tables).
Do any of you know where I can pick up some sturdy trays with clear lids? Also, where’s the best spot to find decent deals on cookie boxes?
Perhaps you might try looking in a place like Springfield—I haven't personally visited them, but I have heard they carry a wonderful selection of paper goods, and their prices are quite reasonable for everything and more.www.dora-usluge.hr/haha/

plus, she mentioned that the Irke was actually delicious too 🙂
she hasn't stopped by the Irke in quite a while, but maybe try sending her a private message...
Graber's cakes are exceptional, though I find their pastries to be somewhat lacking...😉
Hello everyone... I have heard some whispers regarding a new little confectionery shop opening up over in the suburbs near Philadelphia, called Casablanca... has anyone by any chance come across them yet?

It is simply not true that I am disparaging others, though I am merely sharing my own firsthand experience, as I once worked in one of those aforementioned bakeries and I know exactly what genuine homemade desserts look like compared to how the rest are actually prepared... ultimately, the choice belongs to you, and while everyone seems to crave that "homemade" label, it often isn't quite what it appears to be; having worked at a place like Whole Foods in a busy area, I have seen exactly what gets passed off as being made from scratch when they deliver for weddings
analoggull15 said:Hey, so I checked out Hearty and honestly? Not impressed. They get way too much hype on this forum. In the end, I just decided to grab some treats from Cashner's instead. You should definitely give them a shot if you're feeling it, then let me know what you think. Since their shop is right there at the intersection in Dubac👍.
I haven't actually heard anyone express dissatisfaction with them yet, as everyone seems to praise them; the pastries feel genuinely homemade, with each one possessing its own unique appearance, color, and most importantly, flavor. On the other hand, Cashner is widely known for using those industrial creams—you can tell by the Canadian pastry, which has a cream so dark and tough it's almost unpalatable. For me, Hearty is simply wonderful, and they saved me so much trouble after I spent months searching for an authentic, homemade dessert, which I know is something we all value deeply...😉

Btw, I didn't see anything mentioned about needing an appointment for a hearty meal, and man, I showed up last week only to find the doors locked tight. 🙄 Now I have to give them a call just to try and schedule something...
That hasn't happened to me personally, as their official business hours are from 7 to 3, though there is a doorbell on the side where someone will kindly open the door for you regardless of the hour...
At Heartland, all the cookies are sold $25 by the pound, though they calculate cakes $3.25 by the slice if they have whipped cream frosting, or otherwise based on their specific recipes $4.00 regardless of the flavor profile; however, she even lowers the price if you're ordering a cake for more than 100 guests, which is what she quoted my niece for a cake serving 170 people $500 (the whipped cream variety), and the woman mentioned that for individual pastry boxes you'll need about 9 to 11 ounces, whereas for a large reception hall, 15 to 18 ounces is sufficient because her wedding dessert selection only includes about 15% dry pastries, and since these creamy desserts are much heavier—which makes perfect sense—it’s a better balance, after all, who really wants just plain cookies at a wedding when she specializes in these exquisite, creamy delights where every piece with cream is sliced multiple times so that the cream layer isn't overly thick, but rather elegantly spread through the pastry... we are truly delighted with them, and honestly, given the quality, the pricing is quite surprisingly reasonable
I have just finished checking everything, and I can confirm that all the details are listed right there on the webpage, Lilian and Sonia...
Heartland is located over in the suburbs, and just to clarify, they aren't just a small local shop, but actually operate as a full corporation,
www.a1-centar.hr, so once you pull up the website and click on Heartland, you'll see all their photos of cookies and cakes... I can't quite recall if the lady in charge goes by Lilian or Mirian, though...
So, we ended up overindulging quite a bit; we visited Sugar yesterday, and I honestly don't know if I can ever recover... my wife insisted on us trying everything, piling our plates with every single type of cookie she had available, two of each kind... goodness, I truly cannot decide which one was superior or more delicious, as they were all perfectly uniform, cut into identical little squares, and to top it all off, you even get some extra for free... I am still reeling from it, and it was the primary topic of conversation for us last night. On Monday, I have a meeting to finalize details for a crisis management seminar, while my cousin is planning her wedding, which is going to be $25 pounds, and the cakes there look absolutely wonderful too, at least based on the photos we saw... you really should try that specific combination, they are truly lovely
Well, I will be heading over to Whole Foods tomorrow as well, as I have an appointment scheduled with the manager at 5:00 PM, so I intend to gather all the necessary details... I am looking to pick up about forty-five pounds of supplies for the holiday rush and, of course, a cake, but if there is anything specific you all might need, I would be more than happy to inquire on your behalf...
Oh, my dear, you are going to pay an absolute fortune for that cake in Charlotte; while I will admit it looks exactly how you envisioned it on the outside, it is probably best if no one actually cuts into it, if you ask me... quite unappetizing...
Their heart is truly in their craft, located over on Broadway... they have only been officially operating for about a year now, and it is quite evident that they haven't yet succumbed to the complex chemistry of modern baking, which is actually a blessing. They work exclusively with real, wholesome ingredients without any of those artificial substitutes... their cakes are simply fantastic, lacking all those overly processed mousses and unnecessary additives. The ladies there prepare their creams with such care, making them feel truly homemade, and to me, that is what a real cake should be. I had the pleasure of trying their Ice Wind, and honestly, words fail me... it cannot even be compared to the one I had at a local bakery downtown the other day, though that is beside the point. If you are someone who appreciates an authentic, homemade taste, I give them my warmest recommendation... plus, the owner is such a lovely woman and is incredibly accommodating if you need to discuss any special arrangements
It is I once again, reaching out to offer my most sincere recommendation regarding the pastries from Srceks... I attended a wedding this past Saturday, and I must say, their desserts were truly exceptional, possessing that genuine, homemade quality one rarely finds these days. Every single piece was sliced with such precision, but those decorative treats—the little peaches, the tiny hats, the watermelon slices, and the hearts—were simply phenomenal. My niece hosted about 150 guests and ordered 25 kilograms of sweets, which turned out to be the perfect amount, neither excessive nor insufficient... I believe she mentioned the bakery is located somewhere over near Chelsea, but if you are interested, I shall certainly ask her for the exact details
Jesse Hughes2 said:I honestly think they’ve officially fallen through for us now. I already gave my dear one the heads-up that we need to start hunting for a new ☕
By the way, what’s the deal with Nutrapek? Has anyone here actually used their cakes for a wedding before?
But why wouldn't you consider the pastries from srčeko? The girls working there are absolutely wonderful, and they prepare everything just as if you were making it at home; they roll out all their dough by hand and whip up their own creams, and I am quite certain they melt actual chocolate into their Canadian pastries rather than using cocoa powder, which is something I find incredibly important... plus, they are very accommodating with arrangements, and I believe the price per kilogram is currently around $23, which doesn't seem like much at all for authentic, homemade quality... since they cater weddings every single Saturday, you could even ask them to put together a little tasting sampler for you, and having tried them myself, I truly believe it is worth the effort...
Jesse Hughes2 said:Quincy:I was just sitting here thinking about how life moves in such strange, unpredictable loops. It’s funny, isn't it? One minute you think you have everything mapped out—like a perfectly laid track for a high-speed train—and the next, someone pulls the lever and suddenly you're navigating a winding mountain road in a vintage sedan. You just have to roll with it. Anyway, I was looking over some old notes today and it reminded me of how much things change when you actually stop to breathe and look around. It's like that feeling when you finally finish a massive project at work and realize the world didn't end because you took a weekend off. Everything stays. Everything keeps turning. Just a thought. kaže: Hey there! Just dropping in to say hello! I think we finally made our call on the desserts... yeah, we officially decided yesterday while we were hanging out at that local fair. So, there’s this little bakery over in Columbus that claims they make "authentic homemade pastries." My darling keeps insisting they are absolutely incredible—just out of this world! Personally? I’m not really feeling it. I've always been a bit picky about sweets, and honestly, most of them just don't hit the mark for me. It's like when you expect a gourmet burger but end up with something a bit lackluster; the disappointment is real. Just my two cents! Has anyone else actually picked anything up from them? We’re just a little worried that they might be holding back the premium stuff specifically for the trade show or something... you know how it goes.
Thanks, ladies!😍 |
I’m actually pretty curious about them too. To be honest, I was already starting to wonder about their pricing back on the wedding day—it just felt surreal how much cheaper they were compared to everyone else. 😲
I'm honestly not even sure... has anyone here actually ordered anything from them before? I'd love to hear what the experience was like. 🤷
That stand was absolutely incredible; I was honestly tempted to just sit down right there and eat everything they had on display. 🤣
If I may interject for a moment, regarding those cakes from Karlovac—if your primary goal is to ensure your guests are genuinely impressed, I would advise against choosing them, because while the cakes are visually stunning, you might find yourself disappointed to realize they all taste remarkably similar, as those industrial creams tend to leave their mark, making everything look lovely yet feeling as though you are eating the exact same thing over and over again... perhaps it would be better to select something that will truly wow your guests, even if it means paying a little more, since this is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion😕
The cake was actually prepared by my aunts back in a small town in Ohio, and I picked up some of their pastries while I was visiting them $25, everyone was absolutely delighted with everything; they truly tasted like genuine, homemade American treats
Fondant works quite well if you don't spread it too thin, otherwise its true quality doesn't really shine through... The ladies who made my cake used fondant, but they applied a special cream underneath first so that once it sits, the cream melts into the fondant, creating a texture similar to rich buttercream rather than a hard shell. It was delicious, and honestly, nobody even thought to peel it off... Once I get the hang of this, I will be sure to post a photo of my cake from the third floor; it looked absolutely flawless, and everyone at the party was busy snapping pictures of it before we finally sliced into it... it was truly wonderful
Morgan Stewart50, let me offer you some sincere advice on this matter, because if those cookies are truly delicious, you really ought to plan for about 8 ounces per person... I know this from my own personal experience, having once prepared only about 6 ounces per guest, and I felt quite embarrassed when they vanished almost instantly... They were simply too wonderful, and while everyone was absolutely delighted, there just wasn't nearly enough to go around...
