Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone might be able to help me make sense of my husband's semen analysis results? I can already tell they aren't great, but I'm really hoping there's someone here who actually knows their stuff and can tell me just how much of an issue we're looking at.
Just to give you some context, when he was about 15, he had to have emergency surgery on his testicle, and they ended up removing one of them. Back then, the doctors told him the surgery went fine and that it wouldn't affect his ability to have kids later on, but since we've been trying to conceive for a while now, he finally went in to get this test done.
Here’s what the report says:
ejaculate volume 4.2ml, sperm count per ml: 5.5x10^6; total sperm count in ejaculate 23.1x10^6. Motility: progressively motile (kinetics 3/4) 18.18%; motile (kinetics 2/3) 36.36% ; non-progressive motile (kinetics 2) 9.09% . Non-motile sperm 36.36%. Diagnosis: OLIGOASTHENOZOSPERMIA
Note: 93% morphology shows abnormal shapes.
If anyone could please share your thoughts or maybe suggest what steps we should take next—like, is there anything at all we can do to try and improve these numbers—I would be so incredibly grateful.
Thanks so much!
