My friend hosted her party there and honestly, I have zero complaints—the food was great, the venue was solid, and the service was on point. There’s plenty of room to breathe, and I actually really dig how they laid out the tables in the hall. The only real downside was the trek; we were coming from Salina, so it felt like a bit of a haul, especially if you're heading over from Omaha!

We actually checked with our Friends and they told us it could probably hold up to 130 people, though honestly, looking at the layout, it feels like it might be a bit tight for that many, but I can't quite put my finger on an exact number.

as for the other cakes, they seemed homemade, so I didn't venture any further...

Look, I’ve tried their cookies before, and honestly, they’re about as impressive as any random local bakery you'd find in a strip mall—nothing special at all. But then, I had the misfortune of eating their cakes at a catered party once, and I swear, I have never tasted anything more offensive in my entire life; out of ten different cakes, every single one featured the exact same bone-dry sponge paired with these weirdly mushy, unidentifiable creams—it was an absolute disaster.🤮

It’s absolutely stunning, where on earth did you pick that up?

If you just dig a little deeper, you'll see what I mean; I've been to plenty of weddings where the band featured both a male and female vocalist...

I was hanging out at Rose's this afternoon, and they’ve actually got some aquarium-style vases for rent—they're about 40% off, which works out to roughly five bucks or so. They also have these massive vases that are perfect if you're trying to put together a huge bouquet of cut flowers, but honestly, that's about it since they don't really carry much else in the way of different styles or containers.
Noah Smith49 said:Does anyone have recommendations for getting invitations made? I'm looking for a good graphic design studio, a high-end print shop, or something similar... Thanks so much! Also—does anyone happen to know where I can pick up some quality cardstock for invitations here in San Francisco (just in case I decide to DIY the whole thing myself)??

I ended up doing mine myself, and I picked up all the supplies from this one specialty shop out in the suburbs, though I honestly can't recall the name off the top of my head😕,(it’s right next to that boutique tailor shop near the old mill). You could also check out a supplier over by the Mediterranean Sea area or hit up the Radin printing house. Honestly, don't waste your breath scouring basic office supply stores or corner shops; I went through that exact same headache before I stumbled upon these specific companies. Most of them primarily deal in wholesale, but you can usually snag a small amount at retail prices if you ask nicely. Hope that helps...😉

So, I found myself wandering through the Mississippi again, desperately trying to track down some pastries that actually tasted decent enough to serve as inspiration for a cake, but honestly, it was a total bust...🙂🙂..the lady at the bakery center just flat-out told me they don't have anything worth having...I mean, can you even believe the nerve of some people?

Does anyone have a clue what the going rate is to hire a vocal ensemble—doesn't even need to be the full group—or maybe just a guitarist or someone on mandolin? Basically, I’m looking for some light background music to play right before the ceremony starts at the church while the guests are settling in. I'm talking short, easygoing tunes to set the mood while everyone arrives. This definitely isn't for a house party!!!

I actually work at a Dance Studio and we help out couples with their routines all the time, so if you need some pointers, we've got you covered... I'll shoot you a DM with our info.

Linda Edwards3 said:Does anyone happen to know where to find some actually decent pastries here in San Francisco? My main issue is that everything feels way too mass-produced—it’s like they all use the exact same dough and fillings, so every single dessert ends up tasting identical... I’d really love a solid recommendation if anyone has one.

I've been on the exact same hunt for good sweets in San Francisco, and honestly, the options are pretty underwhelming. When I was traveling through America, the pastries there were definitely a step up—everything felt homemade and authentic. They have this great mix of creamy desserts and more crumbly, dry ones. The creamy stuff is alright, but the dry varieties didn't exactly blow my mind... just felt like buying a pound of sugar in a box $33. However, I did visit this one lady who runs her own little boutique bakery; she does these dry pastries that are genuinely delicious, and the price is basically the same as the commercial shops. If you need a specific number for her, let me know... and if anyone else has leads, please help us out!!!!

It’s honestly not even an issue, because if they actually kept slices of cheesecake on hand to just grab and go, I’d have bought one in a heartbeat, but everything there is strictly made-to-order. They basically just have a handful of cookies sitting out and that's about the extent of it...

So, I’ve been reading through all these posts where everyone claims they’ve already sampled every single cake from the cream filling. Meanwhile, I’m just sitting here staring at a catalog I picked up, basically making my decisions based on how pretty things look and just praying the taste actually follows suit... I’m really not looking to overcomplicate this whole ordeal, so I’ll probably just go with that wedding cake from the Mississippi Delta, and then to cover all my bases, I’ll grab some extra treats from that local boutique baker—you know, the one whose stuff I know is top-tier, totally homemade, and flourless. That way, I can actually satisfy everyone! Now, since you guys have been so helpful, I’ve got another question for you. Does anyone have any recommendations for other cookie places I should check out? With that lady, a pound is $33, and everything she makes is just dry cookies. Honestly, it's the most expensive stuff in town.

I honestly never had much of a thing for their cakes anyway.👎

What about Delta?

I actually spent some time flipping through the Mississippi Delta dessert catalog, and I have to admit, their cakes look absolutely stunning on the outside. I was seriously considering placing an order because their prices seemed pretty reasonable, too. But honestly, every single person I mentioned them to ended up spitting them right back out, claiming they just use those cheap, pre-made boxed mixes for the batter and the frosting and then just toss in some flavoring to mask the taste. At this rate, I'm going to end up completely losing my mind over cake.

Everyone keeps raving about those crunchy pastries at the bakery over by the Mediterranean Coast marina, but I have no clue what they're actually like—their website won't load for some reason 🤷
I guess they probably just have the regular stuff too 😁

I know the place, and honestly, their praline crunch is top-tier, but their other cakes are pretty mediocre at best... plus, I'm crossing the praline cake off my list entirely because there is nothing worse than watching a bunch of wild wedding guests absolutely demolish a cake like a pack of wolves.
Back to the drawing board for me...😉

Nathan Cox25 said:Why don't you check out the Wedding on the Mediterranean Coast thread?
A three-tier cake in Chicago runs at least $800—give or take—for about 100 people.

Thanks for the heads-up. I actually scoured that specific thread, but honestly, I didn't find much of anything useful. Everything I see advertised online is just some massive commercial bakery using pre-made doughs and artificial creams that taste absolutely fake, and I’ve always been a sucker for something made from scratch. I did track down one small local boutique that claims to do everything homemade, but they quoted me a price for a two-tier cake that was just completely absurd $667. I wouldn't even bother leaving them a review because, frankly, the thing looked terrible—it was all covered in cheap meringue swirls and little bows, and I'm pretty sure an amateur could do a better job myself. It’s just way too much money for something that looks that tacky...

Hey guys, I could really use some help here—I’m trying to get a handle on what a decent three-tier wedding cake actually costs these days. $667 I’ve already scouted a few local bakeries, and the quotes are all over the place, ranging from $350 up to
. 😢Also, if anyone has a lead on where to find an actually incredible cake in San Francisco, please let me know. I feel like I've been asking everyone I know, but I just can't seem to track down the perfect one...

I’m from San Francisco, and honestly, everyone here is obsessed with paperwork; they won't touch anything made outside the country. We’ve checked around at several different spots, and no one will allow it, whether you're looking at a restaurant or a rented event hall. It’s fine if you're just talking about cakes during the warmer months, but when it comes to dry cookies, it's just completely ridiculous.

Nathan Cox25 said:So she runs her own small business? Man, we could've easily scored about ten homemade cakes and a full spread of pastries for the wedding for free—but nope, since the hotel won't budge without official invoices and paperwork, we're out of luck. 🤷

I’m genuinely mourning this loss🤷...even at restaurants, they won't serve us anything actually made from scratch. Every single store-bought cake and pastry tastes incredibly bland to me. Now I’m out here hunting for local ladies who run small catering businesses and bake real desserts, and let me tell you, they are going to charge us an absolute fortune. It honestly makes me want to just start my own bakery.😠
