Is consolidation killing the industry? in Economy ·
I feel like every time we turn around, a massive studio or conglomerate is trying to swallow up another one. At this point, I'm worried we're just heading toward a world where three or four giants control everything we watch. Do you think more consolidation actually helps or just kills off real variety?

Since I’m definitely not hanging out in California right now... any chance someone could point me toward some good local a cappella groups?
Just a grateful girl here.....😍

Hey there, ladies...

I really need a hand here... I already managed to get one lead, but honestly, I could use 😉

more options. Does anyone have a list of reliable catering numbers for the area around Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and the surrounding suburbs?

It would be a huge lifesaver!

Hey there, newbies! 😍

Anyone out there know a actually GOOD catering service around the San Francisco or Bay Area? I’m looking for some solid recommendations—hit me up with phone numbers if you got 'em... thanky

Zachary Price2 said:I actually spent some time flipping through the Mississippi Delta dessert catalog, and I have to admit, their cakes look absolutely stunning on the outside. I was seriously considering placing an order because their prices seemed pretty reasonable, too. But honestly, every single person I mentioned them to ended up spitting them right back out, claiming they just use those cheap, pre-made boxed mixes for the batter and the frosting and then just toss in some flavoring to mask the taste. At this rate, I'm going to end up completely losing my mind over cake.

Hey girl...look, I ended up just going with Delta for my cake. I was only in the States for a few days, so I didn't have much time to overthink it. Honestly, I've had Delta cakes before and they weren't bad to me—I told them I wanted a variety of flavors for the different tiers, like one fruit layer, one chocolate, stuff like that..

Hope that helps! We had to pay for it right away, plus I ordered two extra cakes on top of it. We even paid a deposit for the stand $133 which we get back once we return it.

Here’s a shot of my cake—it's a little hard to see clearly... but I think it looks 😍

Look, just take my advice—give the big names a call, do some digging online, and see what kind of vibe you’re actually looking for. Honestly, people have been saying this on here a million times already... 😍

Some of them even have their own websites. Check out this group for starters...

Look, I can back this up—The Beach Boys out of Miami will definitely pull in $1,500! We’ve got our party coming up next September, and we already locked them in. The contract says they play until 4 AM, but does anyone know if there's an extra hourly fee if things run late? I totally forgot to ask... honestly, I don't think our bash will go past 5 anyway. But yeah, I highly recommend them! 😍
Right, we actually called them and booked them way back in September... because let me tell you, they get busy fast. So, if you want a fresh deposit down, hurry up... good luck!😁

October 2010

About 200 guests
Roundtables (which is something my folks at ExxonMobil requested)
Standard setup for me

Maybe some pre-marital counseling courses?

Alright, here’s what I know from my side😉 We settled on Bolero Restaurant back in September 2010 http://restaurantbolero.com/. They do those round tables, and honestly, you can pick whatever you want... I'm looking at maybe 270 people, so maybe a venue meant for 200 might feel a bit tight for you, but hey, go check it out... that's all I got for now... good luck!😉

Hey there, you beautiful people...

So, I've got a little something to share with you all 😉 Basically, I’ve been hunting for some solid info on street lighting over in Miami, but honestly? I couldn't find anything useful to save my life—I just didn't know who to even talk to! But man, I have to give a huge shout-out to San Diego 👍 On their site http://www.vjencanja-zadar.com they’ve got tons of great info that actually applies to the Miami area too. The best part? You can literally post a question and get an answer within a few hours. They were a total lifesaver, so I figured I'd pass it along in case any of you need it... might come in handy! Anyway, I've also been doing a bit of window shopping for dresses lately... oh my god, Nordstrom and Vera Wang have such stunning pieces... I'm already totally obsessed... hehe... anyway, catch ya later!😍

Zachary White9 said:How long did you guys usually have to wait for photographers to get your photos and videos back to you—and who did you end up hiring? It always felt like such a drag for me personally

Hey! They told me I’d be looking at a 3-4 week wait, which seems totally fine, right? Or... I mean, I know some people end up waiting like 6 months—like if you go with some high-end boutique studio—but hey, the results are usually killer 😉

👋Hey Eric Barrett26! Honestly, I’m right there in the trenches with you—prepping for this wedding is a total nightmare and I have like a million things on my plate. We’re getting hitched in January, which sounds great until you realize you need about 20,000 documents and a mountain of sanity just to get through it... yeah, that's the vibe right now. 🙄 It’s so weird that I can’t message you... anyway, I sent out all those emails regarding the glycerin and the lighting setup... blah blah blah... and guess what? I haven't heard back from a single soul. NOTHING. How does that even happen?! This is the exact deal Tom sent me from the studio and we already shook on it. It’s one solid package. Like, if you want extra shots of the parents or guest photos or whatever, fine, that's an extra fee, but we aren't doing any of that fluff. What we have is enough. I'm still a bit iffy on travel expenses, though—you'll probably have to cough up something since traveling to a place like San Francisco isn't exactly cheap either...

The price for wedding photography and videography is $1,300, which includes:

-A leather album featuring 200 photos in various sizes like 8x12, 6x8, and 5x7.

-Every single photo taken that day and night will be on a DVD—we're talking roughly 1,500 to 2,000 shots.

-A 3-hour DVD featuring a highlight reel, childhood photos, parent introductions, the bride's prep, the groom's prep, a dance mix, and a final wrap-up video of the whole event.

-All the raw footage recorded that day (basically the unedited stuff).

Thank-you cards are extra at $2.75/each.
You guys can basically build your own custom package depending on what you want—like if you want specific albums for parents and bridesmaids, an extra photographer or videographer, or a shorter version of the video.

Hey ladies, California girls, West Coast brides, former brides...😍 I seriously need some intel on lighting. Can anyone recommend a pro and give me a heads-up on what the damage usually is? Any info helps, thanks!

Ugh, girl, I just need to drop a few pounds first—lord help me—and then comes the endless hunt for the perfect dress... wheeeeeee!

Catch ya later... peace!

Adam Alvarez5 said:Hey there, Mlada 2010, thanks so much for the help... I think I’m actually going to give them a call tomorrow to see what the standard menu pricing looks like, and of course, I’ll circle back and let you all know what I find out... Honestly, I have a feeling it isn't quite $38. That feels a bit steep to me, especially considering it's out in a small town in the Midwest where things aren't exactly right at my doorstep. Does anyone else happen to know of any good halls in San Francisco that could accommodate about 120 people? Personally, I really like the Holy Cross venue near that small rural town. Mlada 2010, do you happen to know what the standard menu costs over at that small town, and do they take bookings for 130 people since they clearly have more capacity? Best regards!

Ann, look, the standard menu at Bolero runs about $45. And just so we’re clear—that doesn't include fruit or dessert. If you want to sweeten the deal, you could always ask them to throw in an extra octopus salad or something... though if you bring your own wine, you actually save about a buck fifty. As for what people are getting paid for a 130-hour week? Honestly, I couldn't give you a straight answer right now—I think it really depends on how old you are (maybe there's less wiggle room in the summer?). My fiancé and I actually sat down for a chat at Bolero and signed our contract right there. Isaac, the manager, was super fair; he's the kind of guy you can actually sit down and negotiate with. If you need his number, just let me know... Good luck, catch ya later!😍

So, maybe Ann will give us the heads-up, right? But honestly—if she doesn't step up and fill us in—I’m just gonna pick up the phone and call her myself. Why wait around? 😉 Honestly, that place felt way too far out for me—like, basically in the middle of nowhere—but hey, if you got a killer deal on a room, who cares, right? It was a solid service, I'll give 'em that. But now...

Adam Alvarez5 said:Aha... well, I think I’ll just stick to the standard menu items... you know, the usual suspects like prosciutto, cheese, maybe some French specialties, risotto, beef stew, or lamb... Does anyone happen to know what the prices look like over at Dollis??? A huge thanks to anyone who can help me out!

Hey Holly Ann! I think it's around 38 Euros, but I'm not 100% sure. I called them once just to get the scoop, but honestly, the Bolero looked way better to me, so I ended up ditching the whole idea. If I were you, I'd just give them a ring—it's not like it's rocket science, right?!
Here's the link if you want to reach out to them!

I was looking through photographers yesterday and stumbled upon this one studio's site featuring a boat. www.weddingstudioin.com. It’s the second video and shot on the list. Just shoot them an email and ask... most of these guys work with specific vendors, and since they filmed a session there, they should have some inside info. Also, I noticed the boat says Water Taxi on it.

Man... everyone is way smarter than me.😉 Thanks a ton! I don't know how many times I've looked at their stuff and never even noticed that detail. I'm definitely gonna reach out and see what's up!
Also, I am absolutely obsessed with the video of Ann and her guy—wow, just WOW! They aren't on a boat, but seriously, LEGENDARY!!! Check it out if you want...

Here goes Adam Bishop20 again 😉 Ugh, if my fiancé actually heard me right now, he’d probably tell me I’m taking things way too far 😉 He’s already fed up with my constant babbling 😉 Anyway, ladies—have any of you been to weddings with those crazy, over-the-top restaurant lighting setups? What was your take? Would you actually recommend that vibe or is it just too much?
Honestly, I’d go for all of it 😉 p.s. Sorry if my English is a bit messy, I know I'm making mistakes here 😉
