Family-friendly gyms for parents with babies in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Honestly, I can’t think of a single gym in Washington, D.C. that offers childcare services while parents get their workout in. The more I sit here and chew on this, the more insane it seems that nobody has even considered it over here. I am dead certain it would be a massive hit. Think about those play areas you see in shopping malls—they are absolutely packed on the weekends. The core concept is identical: give parents a break. It's about offloading the kid so you can actually tackle a task—whether it's hitting the treadmill or running an errand—without a tiny human hanging onto your leg the whole time. It makes everything faster, smoother, and way less stressful. Plus, most of those mall spots don't even charge you!

That’s why it’s such a head-scratcher that no local gym has stepped up to fill this gap. Personally, I’d love nothing more than being able to head to a workout session alongside my husband. Instead, we’re stuck playing this endless game of tag with our schedules, trying to rotate shifts just so one of us can get out the door.

Thanks for the tips, ladies. I’m definitely going to hit up some local ice cream shops to see what the deal is. Honestly, I haven't even begun to wrap my head around how much shipping might end up costing me.

I actually made a run over to Orient today—thinking I could get things sorted—but turns out they’re closed for their annual break until Monday. I'll have to try again next week. They're easily my absolute favorite spot.

I really need some advice regarding transporting a cake.

Has anyone ever ordered a cake in one city and then hauled 218 miles it to another? Is that even doable? And if so, how on earth do you manage it?

Look, I’m looking at a cake for about 200 people—which is massive, obviously—so we aren't just talking about a little grocery store sheet cake here. The sheer fragility of something that size is a nightmare.

The thing is, I don't want to (unless I absolutely have to) order the cake in the city where I'm getting married because the bakeries there are honestly pathetic. Everything they offer is basically just glorified, overpriced pudding or some sad variation of instant powder mixed with hot water. I want an actual, legitimate cake. 😢

Charles Gomez4 said:If you have some free time, definitely scroll through the different threads on this forum because there is a ton of info here. I actually started my own planning process recently, and honestly, I was totally lost at first 🤣

Basically, just remember that neither the photographer nor the band needs to be from San Diego. Everyone travels everywhere these days. It really just comes down to whose style you love and what kind of budget you’re working with. My advice? Secure the restaurant, the band, and the church first. If having the right photos is a huge priority for you, lock in a photographer early, since most people are already booked solid through next November.

Write down some rough numbers for what you think you can spend, then dive into reading the forum. Good luck! 🙂

I’m going to have to track him down—it’s not like I have any other choice 🤣

Thanks for the info, Charles Gomez4.

I actually just stumbled upon their website yesterday and saw that Arsenal does weddings. They’re charging $75 per person regardless of whether you go with a sit-down dinner or a buffet. They have a specific menu for each option that looks pretty decent—it's very classic stuff, though—but keep in mind lamb is included while drinks and dessert are extra.

Look, I am completely new to all of this, and if things keep moving at this pace, I’m going to have maybe a few months left to get everything organized. I’m originally from San Diego, but work moved me away a long time ago, so I’m a bit out of the loop here. I honestly have no clue what the deal is with other restaurants or what kind of price points we're looking at. Ideally, I'd love for the venue to be on a peninsula or somewhere really close by. I’m also not sure how other spots operate—like, do they just host dinners, or do they actually have space for a band and a dance floor? I know Arsenal has the full setup. And that’s just the first thing on my list... I haven't even started looking into bands or DJs yet. Ugh, I feel like Bambi in the headlights right now.

Has anyone here actually been to—or better yet, hosted their own wedding at—the Arsenal in San Diego?

I’m absolutely loving the vibe of the place, but I’m totally in the dark regarding whether the service and everything else actually holds up...
