Ethan Wilson94 said:Anyone got recommendations for good desserts? I’ve heard about Babin Greda, but their stuff is a bit light for my taste—though they were solid at weddings I went to. I also heard Ivankov makes great treats, but I haven't tried their cakes yet, and honestly, they didn't look like much.

They are a fully registered business, everything is incredibly clean and organized, and the pricing is very fair. What really stood out to me was that their service includes refrigerated transport directly to the venue and provides neat plastic containers with lids for everything.
The pastries themselves were exquisite—not dry at all, with that wonderful homemade flavor. As for the cakes, they were massive and absolutely stunning; they had that modern, youthful aesthetic I had been dreaming of. Truly, they were perfection!
Our entire wedding party was raving about the sweets; in fact, guests were actually coming up to us afterward to ask where we ordered them from, and several people ended up booking them for their own upcoming celebrations. In short, I cannot recommend them highly enough! 🙂

To all my friends in the Indianapolis area—if you find yourself searching for the perfect pastries or cakes, I cannot recommend the local Candy shop on Joseph enough (http://dundoslastice.com/index.php). They were truly divine! 🙂 The pricing is quite reasonable, and more importantly, they possess that genuine, homemade flavor; there isn't a hint of that artificial sugar or margarine taste you often find elsewhere. We finished every single slice of the cakes because they were massive, beautifully presented, and simply melted in your mouth... In fact, every single guest was raving about them and asking where I had picked them up 🙂 Even the wedding cake was absolutely stunning... decorated with flowers and butterflies, exactly the vision I had in mind! 🙏

Also, I could use some advice on where to pick up a train set—where did you guys go?

If I were you, I would put everything on a company tab; it really is the most cost-effective and stress-free way to handle it. In our experience, we picked up a portion of the supplies at our local Kroger just to ensure we had the essentials on hand, but we put the rest on the company account. We simply returned whatever wasn't consumed and received our $767 refund 🙂 back immediately.

Jack Lee5, I have taken note of that, though I am still quite uncertain as to where one might find 😕
. Ronald Jones11, I actually attempted to inquire at two different dry cleaners, but they both dismissed my concerns quite condescendingly, insisting they utilize their own proprietary chemical processes specifically designed for cleaning wedding gowns 🙄 If you happen to uncover any information, please do let me know! Thank you, 🙂

Whether it's in Indianapolis, Warsaw, or Columbus—it really doesn't matter. I am just terrified that someone might ruin such a special dress... Thank you! 🙂

Is anyone there? 😢

The Dow Chemical sheeting that lylette suggested is truly impressive; it has the delicate appearance of a fine white non-woven fabric... For those of you struggling to track down a specific shade of ribbon or fabric for your bows, I might suggest browsing the floral department over at Walmart 🙂 I actually managed to stumble upon some exquisite ivory material that is just perfect for crafting bows—it feels almost like lace... It comes in a 50 cm width and costs about $2.00 per meter. 😉

I actually went ahead and put down a deposit with them. While I haven't had the chance to taste their work personally, the consensus among my circle has been overwhelmingly positive. I’ve seen their cakes in person, and I must say, they are quite impressive—large, beautifully decorated, and truly eye-catching. From what I gather, everyone who used them for weddings was thrilled; the service was spotless, everything arrived perfectly chilled in refrigerated transport, and the pricing felt very reasonable. For me, that's more than enough reassurance. 🙂

Lara, let’s go with the standard menu—just skip the fruit and the pastries—$63 per person. 😉

frozenangler87 said:Wait, when did you actually shop for this?!
I was just at the mall like two weeks ago and they didn't quote me anything even close to those prices! For example, you're saying the bows are like 40 cents each, but they told me they were 80 cents a piece.
A pack of 100 medium white balloons would be 7.5 miles or $15. 🤷
Those heart decorations made out of bows for behind the newlyweds were maybe $50...... I can't quite remember exactly..... 🤷

About a month and a half ago, 🤷
I decided to Buy from one of the shopping pavilions—I can't remember the exact number. However, I am certain those were the prices. I also picked up a garter for 6.2 miles (which I plan to use for a little trick later) and a narrow satin ribbon for the rosemary sprigs; I don't recall the exact price for the latter, but I know I kept track because it was significantly more affordable than shopping at Vegas or Freehouse. 🙂

I could really use some advice!

Does anyone have recommendations for a talented seamstress? I need a few minor alterations made to my wedding dress—mostly adjusting the straps and shortening the hem slightly.
When I went in for measurements, I visited a boutique on Capuchin Street in Indianapolis, right near the LensCrafters. The lady there seemed incredibly kind and welcoming, which was a relief... but does anyone here have firsthand experience working with her?

Also, can anyone suggest a reliable dry cleaner? I’m looking for a place where I won't have to lie awake at night worrying that they might ruin such an important gown. 🙂

Thanks so much 😉

Rachel Wells3 said:Someone mentioned they were out in the North America recently—does anyone happen to know what the going rate is over there for things like tulle, bows, balloons, and all that craft stuff? 🙂 🙂

Everything is incredibly affordable. You can grab 100 balloons for 3.1 miles, or 100 drawstring bags for 6.2 miles. 🙂
(Just to provide some perspective, a single drawstring bag here in the States runs about $1.80, or roughly $0.53)
As for the fabric—I picked up 10 meters of material (1 meter wide) for just 6.2 miles.

Jesse Morgan73 said:By the way, where exactly is that studio located? Do they have a website or a Facebook page I could look up?

Chick Studio is actually located over on 6th Avenue in Indianapolis. I’ve already put myself on the books for D-Day 😍
I haven't had my trial run for makeup yet, but I did go in for a haircut and color, and I must say, I am quite pleased with the results. I actually saw the work of the Dragons makeup artist in person when a close friend of mine got married, and the look was absolutely stunning 🙂

Jacob Grant said:We're torn between two options: a Subscription Box from Verizon or something from General Motors... Can anyone weigh in? The price gap is $667...

Our group actually went with General Motors—I attended a wedding where they were the main act, and I have to say, the energy was incredible! It was non-stop jumping and dancing until the sun came up 🙂 They also played a massive New Year's Eve Party in Memphis; while I wasn't personally there, the feedback from everyone who attended was nothing but glowing praise. Beyond that, I’ve heard wonderful things about them from several other sources as well.
As for the Verizon Subscription Box, I don't have any firsthand experience with them. 🤷

Mark Nguyen11 said:I have one big question...

Basically, I’m completely lost on where we should go for our wedding photos. I’m actually considering doing a session a few days before the big day for two reasons: first, it gives us more breathing room on the actual wedding day, and second, it allows us to travel somewhere a bit further out. But I just don't know where to go...

Can anyone recommend some great photo locations in the Midwest? I'm from near the LLC area, but I'm open to traveling further afield. Honestly, I'm leaning toward indoor settings—think castles, museums, galleries, or anything with decent scenery that could serve as a good backdrop.

I was even thinking about heading out to Des Moines to shoot at that beautiful castle there. Does anyone happen to know if they allow photography there, and how the process works?

Mark Nguyen11, my partner actually hails from Des Moines and mentioned that while the castle is quite stunning from the exterior, the interior is somewhat underwhelming compared to its facade.🤷

Chris Moore5 said:Hey, I was over at that new IKEA in the basement of the Target the other day—you know, the one near downtown—and I spotted some curtain fabric that looks almost identical to organza. It’s on sale for 5m $10, though I didn't catch the width of the bolt. I immediately thought of you the second I saw they had it in white and orange. 🙂

I am certainly going to head over and take a look! I truly appreciate the recommendation. 😘

Orange and white, definitely!

David Ramos25 said:Across from State Farm, right by those coffee shops, there’s a small shop, then just past the corner...
I can't quite recall the exact streets in Chicago...

A descriptive approach works perfectly fine for me, since I don't actually know their business name either! 👍
Thanks!

David Ramos25 said:You can find tulle at any fabric store; it goes for $6.75 per yard.
I suspect the aisle layout is similar. I’ve purchased both tulle and organza before, and once you account for the width, the coverage ends up being identical.

Hmm... Honestly, I’m a bit lost on where to even begin. Perhaps somewhere like General Motors or a similar large supplier? I've never actually had a need for this before, so I'm completely out of my element when it comes to knowing where to look for 😕

Chris Moore5 said:We used to pick up fabric at the local outlet mall—it was such a steal back then. It was easily a yard wide, if not more. We’d make these massive bows out of it. I know it was incredibly cheap, though I can't quite recall the exact price point now. But,
I can certainly point you toward the right aisle if you decide to head over there.

I actually have a few other errands to run at the mall anyway, so it wouldn't be out of the question to scout that area out while I'm there. If you find yourself with a moment and feel like sharing, please send me a private message with the name of the shop. 😉
Thanks so much!
