Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
I've had enough of this nonsense. It’s time to call it like it is. Everyone keeps acting like everything is fine, but they’re completely blind to what’s actually happening right in front of them. You can't just ignore the facts and expect things to work out. It’s pure delusion. I'm sick of the excuses and I'm sick of the people pretending that everything is under control when it's clearly falling apart. Get real or get out of the way. kaže:
I can't believe I'm even looking at this. Seriously. This photo is a total disaster. It’s like someone took a camera, tripped over a curb in downtown Chicago, and just decided, "Yeah, this is fine. Let's publish this." The composition? Nonexistent. The lighting? Absolute garbage. It looks like it was taken through a greasy window during a thunderstorm in Seattle. There is zero focus, zero intent, and honestly, zero talent on display here. It’s just a messy, blurry shot that tells me absolutely nothing. People spend thousands on gear just to produce something this mediocre. It’s frustrating to see. Just plain frustrating.

I can't believe I'm even looking at this. Seriously. Who actually spends their time scrolling through junk like this? It’s a wedding garter. A single, overpriced little piece of lace from some random site that probably won't even show up before the big day. Look at the design. It’s basic. It’s cliché. It’s exactly the kind of stuff people buy when they have zero original ideas and just want to follow some outdated tradition because everyone else is doing it. You’re telling me someone is going to pay shipping—wait, the site says "free shipping," which is always a red flag for "we padded the price to cover the cost"—for a piece of fabric that'll end up in a dusty box in the attic after one night? It’s ridiculous. We live in an era where you can get custom, high-end accessories from actual designers in NYC or LA, and instead, people are clicking on these bottom-tier websites. It’s a total waste of money. If you want to do the whole garter thing, do it right. Don't settle for this low-rent nonsense. Honestly, it makes my blood boil seeing how much money gets thrown away on these little trifles. Total garbage.

I typed in "army garter." 😁
I honestly have no clue where you're gonna find that... just try looking on eBay.

Thanks, I totally missed that. 😵
So, I think I just pulled the trigger on my very first eBay purchase! I’ve never actually bought anything on there before, so this is a total first for me. If this thing actually shows up at my door anytime soon, I am going to be absolutely stoked.🙂

Hey, sorry to go off-topic for a second, but does anyone know if I can actually find a camo or olive green undershirt somewhere online or in a shop?

I just put in my order for the cookies at some small town in the Midwest. They’re handling the wedding cake too, but the rest of the desserts? That's all being outsourced to neighbors and various relatives. Honestly, who cares. We did the exact same thing when the neighbors got married, and there wasn't any inspector breathing down our necks back then, so I'm betting we won't see any trouble now either.

Look, I actually use Leon's production services myself, and honestly, I'm counting down the days until I see what they come up with for us! 👏

Does anyone here know someone who sings in church? Like, a choir, a small group, or something similar?

Awesome!!! I honestly think we’re going to have some seriously, seriously beautiful flowers!!!!

Well, at least you sorted out the flowers, which means you love them. And BRAVO on the award!

As for the wedding dress... just post some photos on the forum so we can help you out. Strangers are always the most honest.

I also picked up pieces from the Warsaw women... they're great, one less headache.

So that's it then—all we can do is wait for The Day and post the pictures in order!🙂

Personally, I'd be willing to pay up to $1333, and for that kind of money, I really expect to get my money's worth. Most importantly—I want actual flowers, not just a bunch of greenery and random filler. I see it at weddings all the time: tons of leaves and maybe one tiny little bud... yet the bill is huge. You, for instance, can get a great arrangement from the El Paso crew for just 20-$8.25. What I love is that they don't nickel and dime you for every little detail, from candles to tulle. Whether you hand them 1000 or just 10 $0.00 for the flowers, they include the candles and everything else you need. It's all bundled into the arrangement price. Honestly, I'm beyond satisfied (like I said before) and I'd recommend them to anyone. If you need anything else, just ask 👍

I ended up using that Warsaw florist too... and I am absolutely thrilled... plus, I actually won a bridal bouquet in their giveaway!!!!

As for wedding dresses... I'll have more details for you on Monday... basically... the lady at the boutique in Indianapolis is incredibly, incredibly, incredibly nice and she really knows her stuff!!! But now I'm totally indecisive about which one to pick from the selection. Everyone who knows me is being useless because they just tell me "you look beautiful" and "you look stunning" and blah blah blah... maybe I should just ask a complete stranger???

casualfalcon15 said:Yeah... everyone talks about that magical feeling. "Once you put it on, you just know." If that's true, then we must be some kind of statistical anomaly. 🤣

I feel the exact same way. 🙂 It’s all fine—some people catch my eye, some don't—but I go on dates and... nothing. No one has actually blown me away yet. Honestly, I have no idea how I'm supposed to make a choice if there's no spark. I'm heading out to check out the scene in Des Moines tomorrow, but seriously, 🤷what am I even looking for? Is there even anything out there worth expecting?

casualfalcon15 said:Not sure if any of you made it out to the wedding expo... I spent the whole day wandering through every single booth. My top picks 🙂 were definitely—the floral design studio, which was absolutely stunning (easily the best setup there), and the dessert table—homemade cookies that tasted just like my grandma used to make. As for travel, their "honeymoon" package (they won an award for the best promo material) totally blew me away 🙂. For men's suits, check out Arbanas. Honestly, though, I couldn't find anything decent for dresses, lighting, or a solid photographer. Still, I'm pretty happy with the expo overall since I nailed down the flowers and the sweets (though my mom and mother-in-law are going to have to do a taste test first, haha) 🙂. One less thing to worry about 🙂

The dress is driving me absolutely crazy too! I went to that huge wedding expo in Washington, D.C., and I'm still totally lost. I've tried on at least 15 different gowns already and I still haven't had that "this is the one" moment everyone keeps raving about.

gentledriver92 said:Since everyone’s talking flowers, I figured I’d just drop my experience here... maybe it'll save someone some headache. So, I picked up all the florals from Stellar in Des Moines, and the whole thing ended up costing me about $900... and that covers everything: 30 table arrangements (those tall glass globes with pebbles, flowers, and thick candles), the head table setup—same deal with the stones, candles, and flowers running the full length of the mirror—plus 15 boutonnieres, car decor, and my own rose bouquet. Honestly? I think the price is pretty fair for all that. Anyway... if you have questions, just shoot me a DM. Oh, and regarding the sweets... they were $0.50 each, so a tray of 30 comes out to $15 plus the box (though I just grabbed the box at Costco for $0.77, which is cheaper than buying by weight). Most importantly, they actually taste good. If anyone needs a quick recommendation, hit me up in private. Hope this helps. Peace 😁

Thanks so much... you really helped me out. I have a meeting with them tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes!

Same here! I have no clue what I actually want, but I damn sure know what I DON'T want!!!!🙂

The more I stare at these flower photos and browse through all these different florists, the more indecisive I get! It’s driving me crazy!!!!

I didn't make it to the expo myself, but my mom did... and she was totally blown away!!! I checked their prices on Meta, and they told me they could customize everything to fit whatever we wanted, but you can really pull off some miracles for under $1000.

Hey everyone, new girl checking in!
Alright, so the wedding is set for September 30th, 2011, at the Classic Ballroom. We've already booked a quartet out of Indianapolis, Leon Productions is handling the photos, and we're getting the desserts from that bakery in rural Indiana. Catering and servers are all sorted, too. The only thing left is the flowers, and honestly, it’s becoming a total nightmare. Does anyone know what the pricing looks like over at Palm or Stella in the suburbs? Also, does anyone have the scoop on Jack, who lives out near Ivanhoe? How do I even get out to his place?
