I guess you should probably budget for about 12-$5.00 slices per person—that seems to be the standard range for pricing—and then multiply that by your guest count. You might want to add a few extra just in case someone wants seconds. Personally, I don't think all those little decorative ornaments are really worth the extra cost... and adding live flowers will definitely drive the price up further, though you could probably work that out directly with your local florist.

The cake looks absolutely stunning!

We had Lido desserts—we're talking incredible pastries, little cream cups, cheesecakes (so good), and a wedding cake that tasted absolutely phenomenal, even though there was a bit of a mix-up regarding how it actually looked.

They provided these lovely white tiered stands for our tables, and for the dessert station, they arranged all the remaining cakes, pastries, and cream cups on top of a mirror. It created such an impressive effect. I assume there will be photos of it, so I'll show you once I get them back.

The situation with the cake design really shouldn't have happened, but honestly, despite that mishap, I would still choose Lido desserts all over again.

🙂 You really just made my day! I mean, I wasn't exactly doubting you, but hearing it straight from the source feels great. Yay! I guess I’m a bit of a perfectionist myself when it comes to wedding planning—I tend to obsess over every little detail because, to me, everything matters equally.
By the way, what was the issue with the sizing? Personally, I’ve always preferred bite-sized pastries; they just seem sweeter to me. There is so much work involved in cutting them down like that, though, so I suppose it isn't a huge deal either way.

I ended up choosing Magnolia Bakery. Honestly, ever since I had a slice of their blueberry cheesecake at a Fifty Fifty cafe, I knew they’d be my go-to for wedding cakes—and that was way before I even started thinking about wedding planning. I also tried some of their pastries at a local bridal expo, and man, they were incredible. Every single one had its own distinct flavor profile without being overly sugary, which I love. Their cakes look stunning, too; I spent quite a bit of time scrolling through their gallery of wedding cake designs. They really are beautiful. I guess we'll see how everything turns out after the big day. I'm hoping for a smooth experience!

Roger Phillips54, those flavors you picked sound absolutely divine 😍
but I was wondering, how far in advance do girls actually need to coordinate on a cake and dessert order? Is three months out considered too late?

Honestly, my first reaction when I saw the photos was 😲 just wow, it's nothing but sponge cake with a tiny bit of frosting. Then I read what you wrote underneath. But even so, it looks bad to me. Regardless of how good the sponge might be, the cake is just way too thick, and in my opinion, it doesn't look like an appropriate wedding cake... it almost looks like some cheap, budget option. 🤷 It's just underwhelming.

Henry Barrett15 said:Hey ladies... I’m brand new here! So, my fiancé and I just sat down with our parents to hammer out some wedding details, and we decided on a little twist: we’re going to have a traditional cake for ourselves, but serve cupcakes to all the guests instead... hehe
I’m really curious to hear your thoughts on this idea. I know it can end up being a bit more expensive—some specialty ones go anywhere from $10 to $5.00 each—but I think it’s such a fun concept and everyone will be totally blown away 😍 ...
Has anyone else actually gone this route for their big day? Hehe 🙂))

I'm planning on doing cupcakes 😍, though not like the ones in the photo sitting in little cups—more like actual mini cakes. I think people call those cupcakes too even if they aren't strictly that, and then there will be a standard cutting cake on top. 🙂

I suppose it might not be entirely fair to judge based on just one or two pastries, but whenever I head over to the Avenue Mall, I always stop by Fifty Fifty for their cheesecake and the blueberry cheesecake—it's catered by Lydia 😍 and honestly, it's divine... so I haven't even bothered stressing about where to get a wedding cake because it's definitely going to be Lydia. Now, I don't really know how their other sweets stack up, but then again, I'm not much of a cake person myself, especially when it comes to those heavy, creamy ones. To be honest, I haven't even been to a wedding with a truly great cake yet.

As for the cupcakes, I assume you pick out the flavors and styles ahead of time, so I'm not quite sure if this girl who ended up with yellow muffins left the cupcake selection entirely up to them or what. They have all sorts of varieties and they look brilliant... but obviously, you should go taste them beforehand.

Lydia generally serves very good food, so their desserts probably follow suit, but I guess you should definitely check for yourself.
