We actually picked up some treats from the Abyss for the salad course—they’re perfectly decent, I suppose, but nothing to write home about. For the main spread and to share with guests, we’ve decided to go with Sweet Secret. We had already reached an agreement, and honestly, I am just floored by their approach. The kindness, the sheer professionalism, the free tasting session... plus, they threw in an extra pound of pastries for us to keep at home. And the flavors? Absolutely divine. They’re light, incredibly tasty, and you don't get that heavy, greasy feeling from too much sugar or margarine. They’re packed with walnuts, and every single one has a unique profile. Now, I find myself in a bit of a dilemma regarding the wedding cake; I'm torn between them and Quincy. I’ve tried the cakes at their bakery, and they truly are wonderful—plus, it would be more budget-friendly than going with Quincy. The issue is that I had my heart set on Quincy from the very beginning, but the way Sweet Secret handles everything has totally won me over. To make matters worse, Quincy raised her prices due to those tax hikes, so now it's $4.25 per person, and I have no guarantee they won't climb even higher... I think my partner and I will do one more tasting in the next few days before making our final call on the cake 🙂

I’ve always had a soft spot for baking, but honestly, I can't even fathom the thought of whipping up a single dessert for my own wedding. And frankly, I have no desire to terrorize my friends and family into doing the heavy lifting for me—which, let's be real, is exactly what some people in our circle tend to do. It might seem like ordering custom sweets is an expensive luxury at first glance, but once you actually sit down and factor in the hours spent prepping, the cost of ingredients, the electricity bill, the decorating, and the delivery... I would gladly hand over that cash just to avoid standing over a hot oven trying to stabilize buttercream when it's a blistering 95 degrees outside.
O.T. I’m heading over to Sweetwater today to finalize the dessert spread for the guests and the welcome treats at my place; the catering for the reception hall was settled ages ago 🙂 I'll report back with my thoughts...

Nathan Cox25, that chocolate-vanilla combo is easily one of her absolute favorites. 😁 Honestly, I’m obsessed with her baking—I think I’ve actually tried every single thing she’s ever made. Right now, my mom and I are on this endless hunt for desserts for a party I'm hosting. My mother is being quite particular; she insists we can't just serve the stuff from Absom that'll be at the venue and call it a day. She wants homemade treats too, so we’re just wandering around looking for something... well, I don't even know what anymore.

quietcrane75, did you ever actually get a chance to try that cake Monica made?

We ended up picking up some Absum; honestly, at that price point, they’re fine enough just to satisfy a craving. I haven't quite decided what I'm doing about my home setup yet—I might stick with them, or I might find something more interesting catching my eye at the local trade show. 🙂
