Hey, does anyone know where I can pick up some 16x16 cm or 17x17 cm envelopes around San Francisco or nearby... Thanks!
Wedding cakes and desserts in Weddings ·
I've had those Unknown pastries at weddings too. Honestly, they're just okay—not really my thing... though I have to say, the presentation on those glass trays looks pretty sharp. A friend of mine also had those little dessert shooters with different creams, and people went absolutely wild for them.

I wasn't really feeling Taxi bend... went to a close friend's wedding, heard a million Tom Petty songs, everything was just super sappy. But that was like five years ago, maybe they're actually killing it now.
People say the Rose Bowl in San Francisco is stuck in the South 😁

I actually talked to one of the guys in the band, and they told me where they're playing so we could go check them out (we ended up at this wedding where they sat us right at their table and kept us entertained for over an hour)...
We went with Paramount Pictures, and our package cost us about $1,550. They work with two photographers and two videographers, and they only book one wedding per day.

ambercrane18 we booked Jessie band. they play just about everything based on what the couple wants (just no cheesy country stuff).... local hits, pop, West Coast classics, you name it! Price was $1800, but they’re bumping it up in 2014, not sure by how much. We went to see them live... those guys absolutely kill it!

We’re getting married in October, and our priest said we need to be ready for classes by May. Everything's happening at St. Peter's cathedral...

Mila says it’s best to hit the fitting during Lent, since the salon has all the dresses in stock right now.
David King72 said:You're being way too proactive; my wedding isn't until June and the mere thought of going dress shopping hasn't even crossed my mind yet.
You've still got plenty of time.

I’d honestly just go to see her 😁 ...but yeah, that'll have to wait until next summer
We already chatted on Facebook, and she’s got the dress at the boutique. She told me I could swing by whenever I want to try it on... I'd go right now, but things are looking pretty grim because 😁 my wedding isn't until October of next year
Maybe I’ll jump back in too... I'm hunting for this specific wedding dress they carry in boutiques around San Francisco, though I bet Miles over in Spokane has it for $333 cheaper. No way Victoria's Secret or Sposa is still holding onto a 2012 St. Patrick gown for $0.83. The real issue is if I see it in person and it looks totally trash on me...
I’m heading straight out to Brnaza to see Miles... the wedding dress I’ve been obsessing over for next year is $0.83 (the Saint Patrick 2012 collection). If I don't find anything there, I'll hit up some shops in San Francisco.
A friend of mine hired this company for her wedding. I ended up skipping it because I was sick, so I can't give you a firsthand account... She was happy with them, though. The final bill hit $833, but honestly, they probably bumped up their prices since then. I watched the DVD, and man, everything looked killer on the dance floor, but the people who weren't dancing were just sitting there in pitch blackness.
In my opinion, you really have to do your homework and pick your specific effects. What do you want? What don't you? She just let them come over and said, "just give me the whole package." She didn't even know what she was signing up for. In the end, she hated how her and her husband's names were plastered everywhere—on the walls, the floor, you name it.
I reached out to the guy just to get some info. He told me you need to book ASAP because he doesn't have enough gear to cover multiple weddings in one day. He’s got a lighting pro running the show all night, plus there's the band and the photographer... that's a lot of mouths to feed 😁
No worries 😉
So, here’s the deal with Velum... It's $40 per person; we're talking French cuisine, prosciutto, cheese, white and black risotto, beef stew, gnocchi, veal medallions in mushroom sauce, plus lamb and veal served with sides and salad. For the wedding cake, they need a certificate from the bakery, but we can bring our own desserts if we want. Drinks are included in the price + an appetizer for everyone when they arrive, champagne for the newlyweds—I forgot which specific wine it was—plus sodas, sparkling water, and draft beer. The bar stays open all night, and you can bring your own hard liquor without any issues. If someone sneaks in a bottle of Jägermeister for the bride, there's no need to hide it under the table 😁
Smoking isn't allowed until 10 PM, but honestly, it shouldn't be a problem; they'll let things slide, and we told them we'd take full responsibility if any inspectors show up. The indoor space is perfect for about 130 people, but for bigger parties, we can expand onto the terrace (where we'll have the appetizers). That lighting you saw online? It's not theirs, BUT!! 😁 In a month or two, they're installing their own LED lights along the whole restaurant that change colors. I'm totally obsessed with the location, Aca marina, the boats, Sustipan, the ocean, that view of San Francisco... 😍 We just need to hand in the final guest list two days before the party. Tables can be arranged from 6 to 25 seats, and kids under 7 are only $20. All the desserts can be dropped off on Friday, the day before the wedding, since they have huge industrial fridges where everything can stay
Regarding the reservation, if you're interested, I can put your name down. If someone else asks for the same date, they'll call you to see if you're still in, and then you'll have to pay a deposit. But they won't officially book you in the wedding ledger until you drop $500.

And about the lighting, I think this is the cheapest company for it in the San Francisco area http://www.rasvjetazavjencanje.com/

Third time editing: I found out by total accident that a friend of mine works as a server for them at weddings, and honestly, he told me straight up there's nothing to worry about. He said everything goes great, and either this year or last, they handled 30 parties and didn't get a single complaint.
boldtiger8, then Velum is definitely your spot 😁 We actually put down a deposit on it already. We're still ironing things out with the band, and they keep asking about the food situation. We tell them, and they’re always like, "Oh man, we've played there before, the food is killer." I run into some buddies too, and they all say the same thing. I think it's because Velum is an actual restaurant, not just some wedding hall... the food is always a step up in places like that. You hit the nail on the head regarding Nirsa, though... it's just decent, middle-of-the-road stuff!!

I mentioned those chairs were $36 at Walmart, but maybe I got my facts straight wrong. I didn't ask the bride herself, so maybe she had an inside connection or something to get that lower price... doesn't matter. I'll look into the catering again. Honestly, I don't think any wedding venue ever nails the menu perfectly—it’s always a bit hit or miss—but the food at Nirson was actually great. Both risottos and the lamb were killer. The prosciutto and cheese were just okay, pretty standard for any wedding feast, and I skipped the beef stew.
I even briefly thought maybe we should have put a deposit down on Nirson, but whatever, it would've been way too big for our guest count anyway (wishful thinking... 😁))

I’ve heard so many people say they gave up on John Doe and R2-D2 just because of the location and the vibe of the neighborhood... honestly, those things turn me off too. In Dollis, you can't even step foot into a Tommy without running into a mess. Last time I went to hear a band, people were stuck at the checkout lines buying groceries while couples were just standing there waiting for everyone to sit down so they could finally get inside. It’s such a hassle...

I was wondering if anyone could give me some "fresh" intel on a few local spots: Executor, Andrea, or Gašpić Solin?
I’m mostly looking for the lowdown on their service and the quality of the food, since I have a decent idea of the pricing. I actually stopped by Nirsa recently and thought the place looked fantastic, but I noticed some chatter on the forums about past issues, so I wanted to see if things have smoothed out lately!
As for Gašpić, I’ve heard the food is absolutely top-tier even if the atmosphere isn't exactly breathtaking—which honestly works for me given how convenient the location is!

Got the freshest scoop on Nirsa. I think the seat is around $36, the food is incredible—honestly, I haven’t had a better risotto at any wedding I've been to... just perfect. The hall is beautiful, dance floor is a good size too, not too big or small. Pretty sure the couple gets a free night at their hotel in the same building.
The only thing that bugged me was the staff. As soon as they saw people starting to head out, they jumped straight into clearing tables. It would've been nicer to let everyone finish up first. There were four of us left at our table, and the waitress came over to grab our dessert right then. I actually yelled at her to just leave it on the table. A bit annoying, but overall, Nirsa is really solid.

Perfect for about 130 people, though you can squeeze more in if you don't mind a smaller dance floor. We’re looking at around 110-115 guests, and we saw how great it looked when they had it set up for 106... pretty solid. In a month or two, they’re installing their own lighting setup—basically colorful LED strips running the length of the restaurant—so once that's in, we'll head back to see if we need to bring in anything extra.

Here’s my update 😁 We’re gonna Party at Velum with the crew from Jessy Bend. We actually crashed someone else's party just to catch this band and they were so good we booked them on the spot. We checked out the restaurant before a previous party there too... honestly, gave me chills. It’s got this intimate, cozy vibe right by the boats over at Aca Marina. Might not be everyone's cup of tea since it isn't your typical fancy wedding hall, but the atmosphere is incredible.
Now we're hunting for a photographer. Right now it's down to Jukica Studio and Megagraf Studio. Hard to say... they both seem great, and the more I look, the more torn I get...
