Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a solid stationery shop or a good bookstore around the Indianapolis area—ideally somewhere that carries a wide variety of paper. I need options when it comes to different colors, weights, and maybe even some textured or embossed styles.
I happen to be heading toward Indy tomorrow, so I figured I might as well swing by and see what’s available for my craft projects...

I'm also open to suggestions for Facebook groups if you know of any. I already checked out Zebra, that bookstore downtown, but I was wondering if there's anything else worth visiting?

Hey, does anyone happen to know where I could rent some large patio umbrellas for my house around Indianapolis? I'm looking for something in white or beige if possible.

rustyjackal26 said:They’re playing at my event too, and from what I've seen, I'm satisfied. As for those constant breaks—that's just plain stupidity...😂 They stick to the agreed-upon schedule, and they'll even throw in some helpful suggestions if you're unsure about anything... you won't regret it...😉

Honestly, ladies, what can I even say? We almost had to postpone the whole wedding because we're in an area hit by major flooding... the house is underwater, everything is ruined from the drought issues earlier, and don't even get me started on the appliances and furniture... 😢 but we decided to push through and hold it no matter what happens. 🙂 We still have two months until the big day, but half of our plans (the couple's welcome party, the backyard celebration before the ceremony) are now totally off the table... 😢

Dear rustyjackal26, I can't tell you how sorry I am to read everything you've been through, but I'm so glad you aren't giving up on the day. It’s going to be such a beautiful wedding, filled with so much heart 🙂

Where is the wedding being held? Which venue? In principle, I wanted to suggest that maybe you could host the gathering right in front of the hall instead. I know there's a special feeling to leaving your own home behind—there's something nice about celebrating in your own space—but maybe this isn't such a bad workaround. A lot of venues actually do a lunch before the ceremony now. Instead, you could set up platters just like you originally intended and celebrate in the venue's courtyard or perhaps a front indoor area. You could rent a few high-top bar tables and those large umbrellas (you know, the white ones)—maybe just one or two depending on how many people show up for the afternoon gathering—and set up one or two large tables where all the food will be laid out. Let the venue keep the drinks inside and maybe ask them to provide two or three servers to pass around the snacks and check on the guests.
I'm here if you need any more help. 😍

Also, Emma Janković...
we'll be at her wedding 🙂

Hey,

Well, we actually worked things out with the crew over at San restaurant just a couple of months ago. We were hosting closer to 150 people at our house, though most of the food was actually ours—they basically just handled the setup and decor, plus whatever else they suggested we provide.

If you happen to need the contact info for the guy we coordinated everything with, just shoot me a DM.

Hey ladies, just wanted to circle back on this one 🙂

Does anyone know of any dessert table specialists around the Midwest who do those cute little spreads—you know, muffins, cake pops, macarons, gingerbread, and all that good stuff?
Ideally, I'm looking for someone near Indianapolis, Savannah, Memphis, Akron, Stockton, or maybe Mobile...

I know a place called Salt in Indy, but honestly, their macarons weren't really my thing when I tried them at that wedding expo. 😢

I’m still on the lookout for someone who could put together a little dessert station...

Does anyone have any good recommendations? The wedding is going to be in Vegas 😉

Since we're on the subject, I really ought to make the trip out to see her soon to hammer out the specifics of the renovation... only about three and a half months left.😁

Does she have a website or a page where I can check out some of her work?

It really depends on what you are looking for, but if you don't mind the drive, it might be worth a visit. There wasn't a single hair stylist present. As far as sweets go, they only had Boso and Vigus. Jewelry was a bit of a non-starter, too. For beauty products, there was Avon and some cosmetics brands—I think one was from Glagoljaska Street, though the name escapes me—but honestly, I didn't even notice them. I did see some lace vendors offering 20-30% discounts, provided you pay by April 11th.
Regarding wedding dresses, there was only one booth, and just one girl in a gown handing out flyers for a local salon.
There were several booths featuring invitations and thank-you notes, which was quite unique since they were bundled with other offers.
The floral selection was extensive; I specifically remember seeing Camellia, freesias, and Iris. I didn't look too closely at the flowers since my floral arrangements are already finalized.
Photographers were also represented, including two professionals from El Paso (one was Sunce, and I can't recall the second name), along with Foto Medo, Krizmanic, Bota, Kelbas, and Click.

Thanks, great job..
Do you happen to know what their hours are tomorrow?

There is a wedding expo taking place in Indianapolis on April 5th and 6th at the Barun Trenk Hall. The exhibitors will be available from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

I was actually just about to ask about that... does anyone happen to know how big it is, or who might be exhibiting there?

Hey ladies,

Does anyone here have any firsthand experience with the Mosaic flower shop over in Indianapolis?
I'm wondering how they handle their business—do they actually follow through on what they promise? Also, if you happen to know anything about their general pricing or what kind of quality you get for your money (I realize it probably varies quite a bit depending on the specific blooms or extras), I’d love a little ballpark figure just to have a guide.

Maybe 250 to 300 people

As for me—at that price point of roughly 180-$62—I've actually been aware of it for about six months now...
I honestly can't say how things used to be before 🤷

Laura:

The Midwest menu there runs about $60
It covers their entire menu—well, except for the appetizers (like prosciutto, cheese, ham, etc.). Plus, your lunch the next day is included in the price...
You get cakes, pastries, even the wedding cake up to a certain amount, plus the hall decorations (they'll give you a budget for the table settings and your head table). They also include beer, wine, bitters, soda, and I think some kind of brandy or similar local spirits (it's not like they serve Jägermeister, if you know what I mean)

I was actually there about two weeks ago, and they’ve enclosed that little covered "patio" area near the entrance with glass... and it looked like they were just installing lighting, because I'm pretty sure it wasn't there a few weeks back. They put those "orb" lights under that long glass wall... they were casting a green glow, though I assume the colors change...

Chris Morgan said:Gratuity isn't included, though typically you're just paying for the servers; the food, drinks, and desserts are usually leftovers from the dinner service.
I believe it's roughly $5.00 per person, and it's actually more cost-effective if you order by the seat—which is how most wedding guests are handled.
As far as the desserts go, I'm not particularly concerned about them, likely because I am not much of a 😉
enthusiast. I know the reputation regarding worker treatment at Bosin isn't exactly stellar, but their pastries are considered a staple. They are most popular for weddings, and I haven't heard any complaints. Their pricing is reasonable, and because they have such large-scale production capabilities, you can easily place an order a week in advance.
I would personally lean toward Grandma's Bakery, as their offerings look quite lovely 🙂 (though I can't recall if I've actually tasted them), especially the cakes. However, everything comes down to the price point; if they end up being significantly more expensive than Bosin, then so be it...

I’m actually curious about this too 😉

vividtinker25 said:So, I’m actually having my wedding this year, and I wanted to see if anyone here has ever ordered pastries or cakes from the Sweet Fairy Tale of White Manastir? They also make macarons, so we were thinking about doing a little mix of both pastries and macarons for the spread. Any thoughts?

They offer stuff that isn't just the typical wedding cake style—they do pralines and macarons too.

I picked up some of their macarons at a wedding expo in Indianapolis, and honestly, I wasn't exactly blown away. I told myself I should try them somewhere else in Zeke to see if that was just how they were, or if... 😂

Do you have any other ideas?

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know of any good dessert table vendors out in the Midwest?
I'm mostly looking for someone near Indianapolis, Des Moines, Memphis, Tulsa, St. Louis, or maybe Little Rock...

Though I suppose I wouldn't mind checking out options in other Midwest cities too.🙂

graniteridge6 said:There was also the Slastine makaron crowd. Honestly, they’re the only ones who actually made an impression on me at the expo. I sampled some of their more delicate cookies—and while I really shouldn't be snacking on sweets during a lecture, I am seriously considering picking some up as a little side treat.
The rest? Pretty pathetic.

I gave the Slastine makaron (macarons) a shot, thinking I might put together a little dessert table. I picked up four of them—yellow, white, green, and red—for $8.25 each, and I have to admit, I wasn't exactly blown away. Since I haven't really had macarons before, I can't say for sure if the issue lies with the bakery itself, but in all four flavors, the taste of the actual "dough" kind of overpowered the cream that was supposed to give them character.
At first glance, they look different, but once you take a bite, you're just left with this singular flavor... just the taste of the cookie base.
I suppose I'll have to find some decent macarons somewhere else. Maybe that's just how they're supposed to be? I don't know, since I haven't tried others. But if that's truly the standard, then I'm pretty disappointed 😢 🙂 😁

It’s honestly pretty depressing. I find it hard to believe anyone could actually call this thing a trade show.
The whole experience was so draining that I couldn't even bring myself to sit through the fashion show 🙂

Maybe it's just because I'm used to the scale of things back in New York, but this was a massive letdown. I didn't find a single thing I was actually looking for 😲

Hey ladies, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good florist around the Columbus, Warsaw, Indianapolis, or Savannah areas? 🙂

I suppose I wouldn't mind looking in Pittsburgh, either 🙂

driftingjackal9 said:Hey there, OP... quick question for the group. My wedding is set for July 5th, and I’m currently spiraling because I need to find a hair stylist and a makeup artist. Since I'm living in New York City, I have absolutely no clue where to look in the surrounding areas—maybe Indianapolis, Columbus, or Savannah? Right now, I'm torn between Serena Williams and that Chanel studio in Columbus, but honestly, looking at their portfolios, the Chanel place seems to have a slightly better vibe.
Help me out here..... if this wedding were in NYC, I wouldn't even be asking because I'd know exactly where to go, but being out here is stressing me out. This is driving me nuts; I actually picked out my photographer and my band faster than this 😵

Thanks, and good luck to everyone 😍😍

We’re in the exact same boat 😢 🙂
I'm from NYC, so the wedding is local, yet I feel like I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing, haha...
