Yeah, I totally ignored the cost, but man, the difference is huge. Honestly, it's probably for the best that I'm not planning on getting married ever again.
With the Dugopolj klasik, everything is so well-established that I honestly don't know if anything could actually go wrong. We were in the smaller room, so my only real gripe was the exit leading outside (having to walk downstairs) for the smokers, but there's an easy fix for that. The food was excellent, and the staff really knows what they're doing... Like someone mentioned above, Peter was seriously going above and beyond all last week to help with every little thing, and that honestly means a lot.
I didn't host my own reception there, but I’ve been a guest twice in the last year. The food was solid and they definitely didn't skimp—they even packed extra leftovers for the newlyweds to take home. The staff is actually professional; you don't have to practically beg them just to bring you some ice. Plus, the landscaping around the hall has looked absolutely stunning over this past year. One time we had welcome drinks by the pool, and another time it was right by the bar outside the hall surrounded by all that greenery.
On the other hand, I have some personal experience dealing with Peter since we did our big event at Dolis. Honestly, he made a really great impression on me. Everything was easy to coordinate, even when we needed changes, and he even stepped up to fix a messy situation with the cakes on the actual night of the party—which wasn't even his job! I'm heading to another wedding in three months where Peter is the manager, and I haven't heard a single bad thing about him.
If I were getting married again 😬 I’d pick Palace salon over Dolis just because the hall is newer, the setting is way better than that parking lot mess in Dugopolj, and I heard the couple gets a room at the hotel.
Look, I have to jump in here because I was just at a fair at Madison Square Garden and experienced the exact same thing. Slices of cake were going for $5 or more each, which adds up to an insane amount for just one dessert, not to mention all the other pastries hitting $40 per pound.
I have a massive sweet tooth and I’m definitely not stingy when it comes to it, but even I have enough common sense to realize those prices are just plain nuts. If someone else can afford to drop that kind of cash, hey, good for them.
Dolcemania was the only place that was upfront with me from the get-go—they explained that you don't just pay per slice, but the price depends entirely on the specific cake (how many tiers, the flavor, the decorations, etc.). The cake I had in mind would probably run me about $150 there, whereas the exact same thing would cost me closer to $260 elsewhere. I’m heading in for a tasting next week, but if anyone has experience with them, I'm all ears. 😁
You can look at rental offers now, but honestly, if you aren't in a massive rush, just hold out for that expo at Madison Square Garden in about ten days. There's a good chance she’ll be exhibiting there again. You could just set up an appointment with her directly to go over her pricing. Plus, if you end up booking them, they throw in the use of vases, mirrors, and all that extra decor for free. 😁
Prices obviously depend on the type of flowers you pick. I worked out a total package price with her, so I don't know the exact breakdown per item, but the folks over at the Skier Flower Shop told me you're looking at an average of $80-$40 per table.

Miss Flower Shop is amazing—the owner is a total pro. I showed her a few photos and she was already brainstorming a million ideas. The price is pretty flexible too; you just tell her your budget and she makes sure you get the absolute most out of it. 😁 I actually worked out a deal to meet up at a bridal expo, so I’m getting all her decor—vases, trinkets, mirrors, you name it—for free!
I’ve actually got one of his flyers right here at home stating that invitation prices start as low as $0.83, and I definitely remember checking them out in person. Honestly, for just 2 or 3 $1.25, you can't really expect anything groundbreaking, but they're cute enough to get the job done. 🙂

I heard there are people on Facebook who do them at that price point and offer super fast turnaround... if anyone's actually ordered from them, let me know.
Have you checked out Michael's stuff yet? His prices start at $0.83 and go up from there. I don't know what style you're looking for, but he has tons of different designs and sizes, and he's really easy to work with if you need to negotiate.
Here’s my take on how the search is going. 🙂
We finally pulled the trigger on the Dolis venue. It’s on the smaller side, capped at 150 people, which is plenty for us. We’re looking at $35 per head for a standard menu (think prosciutto, cheese, fish pâté, beef soup, black and white risotto, beef stew with gnocchi, lamb, pork, and roasted potatoes). That covers everything from the welcome drinks to wine, beer, soda, and unlimited champagne whenever we want to toast. We’ll bring our own dessert—nothing without a permit, obviously, maybe some dry snacks too. The price includes chair covers and bows, and since every table gets its own candle holder and little trinkets, most of the decor is basically handled. They offer extra lighting, but I probably shouldn't be the judge of that since I don't need a dark club vibe just to dance. 😉 The manager there is some younger guy, and he’s super easy to talk to; we can work out pretty much anything. He even suggested we could pick different colors for the decor, so I’m going to send him my ideas. Also, kids under 10 are half price, and toddlers are free, obviously.
Next up: the band. After endless searching and scrolling through all your suggestions and recommendations, we finally settled on Bravo. 😁 These guys are killer; you can tell they actually know their stuff. The price fluctuates depending on the lineup, anywhere from $1,500 for a trio to $2,200 for a six-piece. They have a female vocalist who absolutely shreds. Their repertoire is huge—basically anything except that trashy pop-country stuff, which I don't even want anyway.
For photography and video, we’re going with Mladen, a photographer from Los Angeles, mostly because we know him, but even if we didn't, his rates are great. The value you get for what he includes is honestly unbeatable. Now, I’m going to relax for a bit until the end of the year. It’s way too early to start worrying about cakes and flowers. 🙂
Hey everyone 🙂
I’m officially on the hunt for a band in the San Francisco/Savannah area, so I was wondering if anyone currently working in the industry could give me a heads-up on some recent ballpark prices. I really don't want to get ripped off or overpay for something mediocre. Any advice or leads would be a huge help. 😁
