William Gonzalez3 said:well, then you homosexuals must be crazier than they are.
I mean, they represent maybe a tiny fraction of the total population—and even that might be an overstatement.
You’re obsessing over some minuscule group that is smaller and arguably less significant to the overall population than you are, all while acting completely appalled by who they are.
Maybe I'm being a bit slow, but I truly don't see the logic in any of this.
By focusing on them like this, you're essentially giving them a level of importance they simply don't possess.
But hey, if it makes you feel better, go right ahead.

Correction for an inaccurate quote: I am straight.😁

You’re totally missing the point here...

And I don't know how many times I have to reiterate this—we aren't talking about people who simply hold a dislike for homosexuals, but rather those who actually take specific actions to inflict physical or psychological harm just to satisfy their own twisted sense of gratification.

Look, if you see two gay guys—though, honestly, one could argue about how you even determine someone's orientation unless you happen to catch them in the act—and you decide to beat them up or hurl insults at them for absolutely no reason other than the fact that they were walking down the street, all so you can brag about "taking down two queers" or whatever...

Do you follow me now, my friend?

Are you all just incredibly dim, blind, or do you simply lack basic reading comprehension skills?

I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT GAY PEOPLE—I AM TALKING ABOUT HOMOPHOBES.

For heaven's sake, at least try to read the headline if you can't be bothered to tackle the intro.

It’s not easy for you either, kid...

A wise woman once said something that really sticks with me: you need a license to operate a motorcycle, yet any idiot can go about making a child without one...

And honestly, it doesn't matter who's picking on whom—whether you personally approve of their lifestyle or not—what actually matters is why you feel the need to lash out at them when they aren't touching you or your business.

Alright folks, hats off to you all.

You guys really went all out last night, didn't you?

This whole discussion is actually starting to look like a real debate—but, well, let's be honest here...

The real issue at hand is the homophobe, not the homosexuals.😁😁😁😁😁😁

What have those homophobes actually done to warrant our sympathy or make us understand your tragedy?

The person closest to me was never given a chance to see what they were dealing with—no access to actual psychosocial treatment. My kids didn't grasp what a "borderline mother" was doing to them, nor did they realize the devastating impact Parenteral Alienation was having on their lives...

All because the people in charge—the ones who were supposed to help—refused to acknowledge how personality disorders fuel all these massive public health and social issues...

And they won't, because the Pride movement has clouded their vision by pushing their own dysfunction as the new normal...!!!!

hahahahaha

So, let me get this straight—you're basically framing homosexuality as some sort of Masonic conspiracy theory?

In your mind, they aren't even actually gay; they're just putting on an act specifically to annoy you, right?

Truly ridiculous.

Alright, let's get into it. Technically, I'm bi.
What does that actually mean? You might wonder (or maybe you won't, but I'm going to explain anyway :P)
It means that, in rare instances, men can still physically arouse me, even though emotionally, it’s always women. I’m currently in a relationship with a woman (and before this, I was with a woman for four years). Why am I bringing this up? Simply to clarify that I’m not speaking from a place of theory or imagination; I’m right in the thick of this "issue," so to speak.
I didn't attend the Pride parade today, nor have I ever attended one. It isn't because I find Pride lame, but rather because I live in a small, judgmental community where being recognized could lead to some very REAL problems.

But the goal of Pride isn't really about triggering empathy... it's more about stating facts. It's saying, "Here we are, we are human beings!"
No one in the LGBT community actually thinks a parade is going to suddenly win over classic homophobes, people struggling with PTSD, or similar groups. Instead, it serves as a message to future generations who might be sitting there feeling lost—telling them that being gay, lesbian, trans, or whatever else is perfectly fine. It's a way of saying they aren't alone, it isn't a disease, and they shouldn't have to feel ashamed or like second-class citizens.

That is the ultimate purpose of Pride. My generation likely won't see that shift, but if we work at it, perhaps the next one will.

It's funny how much you can deduce from an avatar...

The breakdown: my avatar features Skin, the lead singer of Skunk Anansie—she's a prominent activist among famous Britons, and she's a lesbian.
Back when I was a teenager, her confidence and attitude absolutely crushed me, even though she was gay.

Regarding everything mentioned above, "coexistence" is possible—and it's vital. I'm not saying everyone has to understand why guys date guys or women love women, but they do have to accept it. Simply put, they need to realize they can't use a hammer or a shovel to "beat the gayness out of someone," and that by stigmatizing it, they're only making things worse. Not necessarily worse for the gay population itself, but for the generations coming up behind us.

And personally, I think gay marriage should be legalized, purely from a property and legal standpoint. It's totally lame that two guys or two girls can live together their entire lives, building a home and a life together, only for one to pass away and have everything snatched by some distant relative who beat them senseless a few years ago, simply because their partner has zero rights to, I should emphasize, their shared estate.

That's all from me for tonight. Over and out. I'm heading out now, and I'm challenging all the homophobes, the straight folks, and—fingers crossed—the gay community to a rendezvous at the same spot around 2:00 PM tomorrow.

@slywolf45: hang in there, I believe there's a time coming when things will be "over the rainbow" friendly.👍

Of course I liked it... and for the record, it had absolutely nothing to do with beer!!!🤣(So, does that mean I'm not being lonely regarding that smiley face? Or did I completely misread the room?😉 )

ON Topic: Have you actually stated your true opinion on this matter yet? Maybe I skimmed over it or missed a beat while reading... but come on, go ahead, run it by me one more time (feel free to just copy and paste😉)

Yeah, I also thought that was some kind of love emoji.

My take: I'm not gay, and I'm certainly not a homophobe. When a gay person talks to me, I don't feel the need to go scrub myself raw with a steel toilet brush to get the "vibe" off, nor am I preoccupied with their sexual orientation mid-conversation. I don't view them as being particularly "oppressed"—they sit on the same level for me as ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, or veterans dealing with PTSD.

While they are certainly denied certain rights, in my opinion—forgive the bluntness—it feels a bit performative when they march through a downtown plaza just to solicit sympathy from the rest of "cool and urban" America.

And no, I don't think my rugged charm could convert two lesbians. That’s just how it is.

slywolf45 said:I wouldn't go that far... unless we're just talking about the homophobe, of course. There are still plenty of other psychological quirks left to dissect—you know, the various phobias and manias out there. That's where the real fun begins!😍

On a completely different note... does anyone else think this grinning emoji looks like some kind of lovestruck idiot? To me, those pink bits flying off the face look more like little hearts... actually, maybe I should just go grab another beer.😉

I was actually thinking the same thing. I really thought you were enjoying my little monologue. Turns out... nope.

The one thing I can’t quite wrap my head around in this whole mess: how is it that the Catholic Church hasn't said a single word about it? Honestly—do they really think they don't need to issue another warning about Sodom and Gomorrah, or have they just decided to declare a total media blackout?

Just imagine a world... with absolutely zero homophobes...😁

That might be a bit too much of a utopia for my taste—though honestly, even a little boredom would be fine by me.

Imagine seeing them out there in traditional outfits, dancing! It would be incredible.

Come on, Dorina, get the guys and girls together and let's get everyone jumping in the square! 👍

I have a dream....

Picture Pride 2008—no police in sight—just two bald, Nazi-looking creeps leading the parade, wearing nothing but underwear, holding tattooed hands, whispering "sweetie" and "honey" to each other while they flirt right there in the middle of the square.

slywolf45 said:Wait, was the topic actually about Gay Pride... or was it?

Otherwise... homosexuality seems to be one of those topics that stays perpetually relevant, doesn't it?🙄

No. The real topic here is the crowd that necessitates having 300 protesters and 500 police officers on standby.

Just a little observation for the group—it feels like there are more cops protecting these parades nowadays than there were guarding Putin.

slywolf45 said:I honestly feel like we’ve already exhausted this particular vein of conversation through endless threads like "Is being gay okay?" or "What’s your take on homosexuality?" or whatever other variation they throw at us...

We've seen the full spectrum of drama here—bruised egos, heated insults, name-calling, the occasional compliment, and everything in between.

Does anyone actually have the stomach (aside from the obvious thread starter😬) to dive back into that swamp?😕
But then again... you know how people are. They might just wake up and decide to stir the pot again after all this time.😉

It would certainly be in keeping with the current state of things in America. 😁

Now, we’re left wondering: has American Society actually progressed to the point where they view homosexuality as a choice rather than an illness? Or is it just that most people are being hypocritical—trying to present themselves in a better light, acting culturally acceptable and looking all "progressive" and Westernized?

Anyway, I'm a bit disappointed...

I want a debate.

Well put.

Essentially, the parade would only make sense if it actually shifted public opinion or changed how society views homosexual individuals.

As it stands, it feels futile, because they won't be granted marriage equality for the very reasons they cite—and certainly not because of the Catholic Church.

That said, I do think we should stop viewing them as some kind of circus sideshow of freaks, though I find it a bit excessive to parade around just because someone occasionally gets punched in the face.

It's like how Californians get beat up in Washington, D.C., all the time, and Washingtonians get picked on in California. That's just the reality of America right now, unfortunately, and nobody holds a parade for that.

The bottom line is: being gay is okay, but look—just because I happen to love giving oral sex to a beautiful man doesn't mean I'm going to shout it from the rooftops or make it my business to discuss it publicly.

Besides, if this was intended to be an exercise in democracy, I suspect there were much better ways to go about it.

And please forgive any homosexuals reading this if I've been particularly harsh today, but I feel this way about anyone whose actions infringe upon the civil rights of others to use public transit without being forced into the spatial constraints of their gathering. 😁

Melissa Castillo4 said:People get worked up about these parades because they're filled with obnoxious, unstable crowds making out all over the street. Who actually wants to watch two monkeys with facial piercings and purple mohawks parading around like they own the place? Or three guys with nothing but kite strings hanging out of their ripped jeans? Right in the middle of downtown? Come on... 👎
That’s where they miss the mark. They think they have to shock people just to prove they aren't "boring" or "stiff" like the rest of us.
Actually, I think it’s the exact opposite. If they just got together, dressed decently, and held some actual speeches or art performances—anything to show they're just regular, cultured people like everyone else—nobody would give them a hard time.

And honestly, why call someone a homophobe just for being vocal about how much their behavior sucks? They're being way too sensitive... 😁

That goes without saying. And please, let's be clear—natural curves only, no plastic surgery allowed.
