Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
Hey there,

I’m looking for some solid recommendations for a dermatologist. To be specific, I’ve been dealing with this persistent dermatitis on my hands, and it's becoming quite a nuisance—lots of cracked skin, open sores, peeling, that whole messy business.

Does anyone know which hospital system would have the best specialist for this kind of thing?

I wouldn't mind going private either, if anyone happens to know a doctor who actually knows what they're doing and is worth the extra cost.
Hey there,

So, I had this massive allergic reaction yesterday—redness and a rash spreading all over my body. Thankfully, I popped into the ER and they got it sorted out within a few hours.

That said, the doctor suggested I go get some formal "food allergy testing" done just to be safe.

Does anyone know where I can actually get that done? And more importantly, can I use an insurance referral for this kind of thing, or am I paying out of pocket?

If you’re actually looking to get into sim racing, I might be able to part with my G920. It’s about a year old, still under warranty, and I’ve got the shifter to go with it if you want the full setup. Shoot me a DM and maybe we can work out a deal.
quieteagle15 said:Thanks, SmartThings 👍—you’re always coming through for me. Honestly, I feel like I was just bugging you for that R Factor setup back when we were playing that game together like four or five years ago.😁

I’m thinking about putting a PC together around Black Friday on the 23rd, hoping I can snag some decent deals on parts if I time it right.

Since you mentioned I could follow up with more questions, I wanted to pick your brain on something else. I’m planning on picking up a Logitech G29 wheel. I’d mostly be using it for Euro Truck and American Truck Simulator. Is that a solid move, or would you suggest something else in that same price bracket?

Cheers,

So, I’m looking at putting together a whole new PC rig over the next couple of months,
which means I also need to finally upgrade my monitor situation since I've just been stuck grinding away on a laptop lately.
I'm dead set on hitting that 144Hz sweet spot, and I already had my eye on the Dell Alienware AW2423HF(p)

But then, while I was browsing Best Buy, I stumbled upon this deal that’s actually cheaper than the Dell—this LG UltraGear
Since there’s a 99% chance I’m going with an Nvidia card for the build, I’m wondering if this LG is strictly limited to Intel G-Sync or if I’ll actually be able to run it at 144Hz with my Nvidia setup.
Also, does this thing even make sense to buy compared to the Dell or some other 144Hz option out there?

I honestly can't seem to find much useful info online regarding this specific model.

So, which specific GTX 1060 did you end up going with?

crimsonstag84, hey, give me the lowdown—is the HEXA actually better than the Hyper? Like, what kind of wattage are we really looking at here?
And is it any quieter than the Hyper?
I’m planning on picking up a new rig next year, so I figured I’d start asking questions now just to get my head around things.

Honestly, you're better off checking out Newegg to get a real sense of the market.
Scour the web to find where the components are actually hitting those lowest price points.
And whatever you do, stay far away from Inno for a GPU; they're just not a reliable manufacturer in my book.
You’d be much safer sticking with a tried-and-true brand, like Gigabyte for instance.
I’m not sure how much of a rush your friend is in, but honestly, GPU prices should dip in a few months, so if he’s looking to save some serious cash, he might want to just sit tight and wait.

Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a repair shop that actually knows what they're doing with this kind of work?
I'm really hoping to find somewhere that won't absolutely fleece me for every cent I have, because, you know,
this laptop is worth about $2333, and I'd much rather not risk any catastrophic hardware failure or just losing the whole thing entirely...
It’s only about a year and a half old, so it's still relatively fresh,

Hey there,

So, I’m thinking about dropping my laptop off at a repair shop to get it properly cleaned out—you know, get rid of all that dust buildup—and have them swap out the thermal paste. It’s only about a year and a half old, so it's not ancient, but still. On top of that, I’m planning on upgrading the OS to Windows 10 pretty soon, since it’s currently running on Windows 7. My big question is: should I go ahead and handle the Windows installation myself before I hand it over for service, or would it be better to wait until after they've finished the cleaning? Or does it honestly just not matter at all?

Dell Inspiron 17 1600x900, B950, DDR3 6GB, NVIDIA GeForce GTX, 500GB HDD

Does anyone have a ballpark idea of what this laptop would actually fetch on the market these days? It’s been my trusty companion for about five years now, though I should probably mention the battery is pretty much on its last legs—it barely holds a charge for thirty minutes before giving up on me. If I were to put it up for sale, I’d likely wipe it and install a fresh version of macOS just to make it presentable. Honestly, I haven't touched the internals once in all those five years, so there's a decent chance the thing is absolutely choked with dust by now. I was wondering how much a brand-new battery might bump the price, or if spending a little cash to have someone swap out the thermal paste and give it a deep cleaning—maybe around $33 if I can find a shop that won't rip me off—would actually make a difference to a potential buyer.

Need help updating my laptop BIOS in Laptops ·
I was wondering if it’s actually worth the hassle to download all those drivers just to push a BIOS update on my Razer Blade 15. Does anyone know if doing this will actually give me a noticeable boost in FPS while I'm gaming, or am I just wasting my afternoon?

Specifically, I'm looking at these BIOS updates listed on the official Dell support page
