Since we're talking about alternatives:
Mainstream medicine gave my dad maybe six months to live. No more.
But, at his buddies' urging, he ended up seeing the late Mladen Markovica in Boston. Mladen told him there were five basic rules to live by. I can't for the life of me remember all five, but I do recall:
He could eat pork, just nothing too fatty,
Skip the coffee,
It's good that he doesn't smoke,
Maybe a single shot of bourbon a day—though he's hesitant to suggest that since "patients" tend to overdo it.
And a few other things...
It’s been about 30 years since then, and my old man's heart is still going strong.
Six months?
Yeah, right.
Anyway, hope that gives you guys a little comfort... I'll try to dig up those exact rules Mladen mentioned.

Thanks, Angela Wright. We aren't trying to be cheap or anything, it’s just that things are tighter now that there's a baby in the mix...
plus, you have to set aside money for the kid too.
Let me just be totally real with you.
I'm the patient here, even if it was a little hard for me to admit that in my first post on this thread.
The attacks are milder now—less intense—and they don't happen nearly as often, which was also true back when I was sticking to traditional medicine. But the catch is, I'm now shelling out over $2,100 a year just for meds. How long can that actually last? How much can one person take?
I'm honestly worried I won't be able to keep this up for much longer.
Alright, let's hear your thoughts!
Someone in my family deals with epilepsy. Currently, Lecen is over in China trying out some traditional methods. I’m not entirely sure if they really teach things "two ways" over there—you know, balancing traditional practices with modern medicine.
So, here's the deal: the meds we've been getting from China were supposed to basically wipe the disease out, but instead, they've just taken the edge off. The seizures are less frequent and less intense now. BUT! The cost... man, it's brutal.
It's true that we aren't relying on barbiturates or those other old-school drugs anymore, but still... what would you guys suggest? Should we go back to the old way, even if the current meds haven't been needed for a long time, and start up with things like phenobarbital or barbiturates again? Or just keep moving forward?
The seizures happen regardless; they just come in different flavors.

It’s true that we aren't relying on barbiturates or those other heavy hitters anymore, but still... what do you guys think? Should we go back to the old-school way even though the meds haven't been needed for a long time, potentially putting us back on things like phenobarbital or barbiturates? Or do we just keep moving forward?
Seizures happen regardless; it's just a matter of how bad they are.
I’m guessing this is the kind of "good American" you’re talking about when you say that?
