Nothing else for now. I’ll play around with them for a bit and see if they actually work as advertised...

Thanks for all the input!
Hi there,

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right subforum for this...
I came across some old Austrian Schilling banknotes at home (likely some elderly relatives saved them up and forgot about them). There’s quite a decent amount. I found out that you can actually exchange these at a bank in Austria, which sounds great on paper...

But something is bugging me..

When I run them through a banknote detector machine, they don't glow the way genuine bills usually do. They have the watermarks and everything, but they lack those shiny security strips that modern US Dollars have...
I've checked with a few banks here, and the most common response I get is that "maybe" they are legitimate, just from an era before those flashy security features were standard.
It might be a silly question, but does anyone here have similar experiences or remember if those older bills used to have that "glow"?
I'd rather not make a trip to the bank in Austria to check only to end up in an awkward situation...

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Hey everyone,

Just one question..
I'm planning to pick up a new PC in about a month. I want it to have 3GB of DDR2 and an Nvidia GeForce 9600 GS with 1GB of video memory, which brings the total to 4GB of memory...
I also intend to install the new Windows on it.
Is it even worth it while it's still in beta? And would it be smarter to go with the 32-bit or the 64-bit version?

Thanks in advance.

( Actually, I'm leaning toward the 64-bit version, but I'll set up a dual boot with xpom... because let's face it, XP is still XP. 🙂 )
@ Nicholas Turner

thanks

btw: I switched brands today, and even at the Federal Reserve they have no clue where I can exchange my Associated Press...
So,

I stumbled upon some old Austrian Schillings and German Marks the other day... they add up to about $500 in today's value...
Apparently, you can still exchange these old currencies here in the States by sending them to an exchange department through a bank...
Does anyone happen to know what the exact process is?
The folks over at Chase in Chicago weren't able to give me much of a detailed explanation regarding how this works...

Thanks in advance for any help

Here is the situation I’m dealing with....
I made a deposit of $217, and my E*TRADE account showed that the funds were being applied toward my monthly installments through December. I was stunned. I called them immediately, and the representative kept insisting everything was fine and that I should be able to use my card normally. I tried explaining that my available credit hasn't changed because of the $4.75, which obviously means I can't make any online purchases, but she just insisted I was doing something wrong... fine. So, I decided to withdraw that cash from an ATM in downtown Chicago to ensure it wouldn't be swallowed up by those future payments. Now, I’ve ended up with a negative balance on my checking account because of that $217 withdrawal. Somehow, my available limit jumped to $13 on its own, and nobody can give me a straight answer about the deposit I made—the one that the website explicitly stated was for "paying off" those installments through the 12th month....
That would mean this month's payment for my Chase Visa $67 is the usual amount plus these extra $217... totaling $283. And still, no one understands why that initial deposit appeared as a prepayment for future months instead of increasing my available balance...
Basically, I gave the bank $217, withdrew $217, and now I owe $283....

I’m wondering if it’s actually possible to top up the available credit on my Go Mastercard, and if so, how do I go about it?
Basically, I started out with an available limit of $1667, but now that I've used it up, I'm sitting at $4.75. Every time I head down to the bank to make a payment specifically to increase my available credit, they just take that money to cover my upcoming monthly installments instead. Meanwhile, my online banking dashboard keeps showing me that my available balance is still stuck at $4.75...
The issue is that I really need this card for online shopping, but it’s impossible right now. The bank just keeps applying my payments toward future installments rather than replenishing my spending limit...
Thanks!
