Every week—I think it’s on Mondays—there is a broadcast on local public radio where various regional bands perform. They're the same groups you'd see playing at bars or small venues around town, so you can tune in if you want to get a feel for the talent out there and see who's actually worth watching.
I was reading about how the band Orange http://www.oranz-music.com/ recently played a gig for Husarica at their party here in San Francisco 🙂
On another note, does anyone here actually listen to Best? I haven’t noticed them being mentioned on this forum before, but I happened to stumble upon them on YouTube and they seem pretty decent to me 🤷
Jesse Lopez90 said:Folks, my dream day has finally come and gone... 🙂 And honestly? It was everything I imagined. Every single detail fell perfectly into place. We couldn't be happier. My relatives haven't stopped calling; they’re all saying it was easily one of the best parties they've attended in years. The energy was incredible—enough good vibes to last us through an entire winter. 😍 So, I need to give some credit where it's due (though "thank you" feels far too small for what we felt):
- The reception was held at the Fable venue in Lori... My husband and I truly felt like the only two people on earth having a celebration. It was already a massive day, but they made it feel monumental. The staff was so attentive, kind, smiling, and genuinely dignified. And the food? Absolutely divine. Choosing that venue was a total win! 🙏
- The band, Aurora, played for us (just the four of them)—I tip my hat to them. They were phenomenal. They played exactly what we requested and really set the tone for the whole celebration. Another absolute home run! 👍
- Rose Florist (over in Split and Mejas)—huge respect to them. They went above and beyond, especially with the effort they put into hunting down anything turquoise to fit my arrangements and bouquet. 😉
- I used Color Photo over on Marmont enough for the photography and video, and now I’m just dying to see the albums and the footage based on what I've seen so far... 🎉
The ceremony took place at Sustipan. A huge thank you to the officiant, Ms. Neda, for her warm words and for letting us organize things a little differently than the standard script! (Unlike some of those high-strung colleagues out there.)
I’m sure I’ve forgotten half of it, but if anyone wants details, just ask. Now, I never thought I’d actually sit down and write this part, but hey, life is unpredictable... I had my wedding dress custom-made by a seamstress downtown. I was more than happy with it. I'd seen the design online, and since it wasn't available anywhere in America, she made it from scratch for me. Everyone says it looks even better than the original. The trouble started after the wedding, though. To make a long story short, I wanted to keep the dress, but things got complicated. In the end, I was asked to pay extra for it—way more than what we originally agreed upon. I won't get into every single detail here, but please, be careful when you head toward Sinj. Look closely at any designer dresses being sold as "originals"—mine almost ended up with a fake label, too. 👎
future, what does the menu pricing look like at Fable for a Saturday booking?
Does anyone happen to know where I can pick up beige-gold or colored envelopes for invitations in St.?
Could someone walk me through how an "open bar" actually works at these kinds of venues? I’m struggling to see the logic behind opting for an open bar if the wine, beer, and sodas are already unlimited. I assume there might be some loophole where guests could bring their own hard liquor, right? 🤷 Also, from a logistical standpoint, how do the hosts even verify if the guests actually consumed as much as the venue claims they did? My apologies if this question feels a bit out of place in this particular thread...
Andrew Wilson9 said:Hey, does anyone know which company in Miami handles fireworks, foam cannons, room painting, and stuff like that? Also, where can I pick up some flares in Miami?
I believe I came across this information somewhere on this forum a while back: 1. fireworks and pyrotechnics www.raytheon.com 2. soap suds, smoke, and light shows www.experiential.com
I would personally prefer something located in or near San Diego, especially since my guests will be traveling by bus from there; I really wouldn't want them stuck on a long shuttle ride after the ceremony. We’ll likely hold the wedding at either Our Lady of Health or Holy Cross. I caught the news about what happened to Little. I am truly relieved to hear that everything turned out alright in the end.
To be honest, I have spent so much time scrolling through this subforum that I feel like I’ve lost my sense of perspective—it's getting hard to see the forest for the trees. 🤣
I completely forgot to mention how many guests were actually on the list 🙂 somewhere between 180 and 200 people. I spent some time over at the Diocletian building earlier, and while the traditional beef stew they served was absolutely divine, that banquet hall was just far too cramped for a crowd of that size.
By the way, which hair salon did you end up using? 🤷
I was hoping you might be able to help me out with a few questions I've been pondering. 1. Has anyone heard if Jack's villa has stopped serving those delicious pear desserts? 2. Where can I find the absolute best catering? I know taste is entirely subjective, but honestly, for me, the quality of the food far outweighs how fancy the venue looks. 3. Looking at Nirs online, everything seems lovely, though I seem to recall reading some threads here a while back where a few women shared rather disappointing experiences. I can't quite recall the specifics, though—does anyone have a different perspective on them? They appeal to me quite a bit, especially since they allow for a reception before the church ceremony. Aside from there, where else in San Diego could I host something like that, and what kind of budget should I be looking at?
